Best of the books I have read on the subject
Having struggled with sexual addiction for several years, I have read several books on the subject. The books by Patrick Carnes were good in understanding the addiction from a psychological point of view, but didn't have any steps to proactively lead me to recovery. This book, however, helped me to form a relationship with God and understand much more about how much God actually loves me, despite all of my sins. The book describes a path to recovery by analyzing addiction from both a psychological and Christian perspective, and gives a set of "Essentials" for overcoming the addiction. I expect to read this book over and over.

A book for those who have struggled.
Allow me to say upfront that this book is fantastic. As one addicted to sexual internet content, this book has given me hope. In it, Russel Willingham combines biblical principles on sex and on the freedom we can have in Christ with psychological theories about the nature, causes, and solutions for addiction. He explains in this book how to know one is addicted, the importance of understanding the causes of the addiction, and several key components to overcoming, such as healthy friendships with others of the same gender, accountability, and a healthy and accurate view of God. For anyone who just can't seem to quit, this book would be a great help.

Breaking Free, Understanding Sexual Addiction
Never before have I understood why, after all these years, I have had this overwhelming craving for pornography. Having been a happily married man for 20 years never seemed to matter. Now, because Russell Willingham has taken the time, and God love him for it, I finally have an answer. Being a sex addict has nothing to do with sex. It has to do with lack of nurturing and the constant need to be loved and accepted. Turning to superficial sexual gratification is nothing more than trying to find a way to fill the vacuum in our hearts. Russell then helps you to understand that even though we finally come to an understanding of the cause, we must then take responsibility for our actions. And, the way to overcome the addiction is to ask Jesus to fill the yearning we have for love and acceptance. He is the only one who loves us for who we are; who accepts us for who we are; never faultering; never withdrawing. Thank you Russell Willingham for writing this book. I will keep it by my side forever.

The Realities of Daily Life
Even if you do not have much of an interest in Ancient Egypt this book is filled with information and explanations that will make you wonder why you haven't given much thought to the Ancient Egyptians before. The art, literature (first love poems!!), and architecture are enough to make you marvel. But the creation of a 365 day calander a by the ancient Egyptians a few thousand years ago is enough to give you pause; then you discover how really remarkable their skill and knowledge of medicine was and you sit back in awe, at least I did. Though there are illustrations, I wish there were more. And for some reason (though this may be unique to my eyes) the font that the Greenwood Press uses in this book, seems to require more focused reading. But these are very small concerns regarding a book that really gives you more than just information. It gives you a sense of the whole culture, and, if you're like me, you'll want to find out even more, which is a clear sign that the authors have done an excellent job.

The best Nightmare sequel in book form
This was a great book. I am one of the lucky ones and I have a rare hard-back copy of it. It starts out in Kristins dream when she is walking up to Freddy's house. If you can find a copy of this rare book don't hesitate to buy it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

A 10!Inside story of 1 of world's greatest feats in aviation
For the first time, the exciting inside story of the breaking of the sound barrier as told by Chuck Yeager and his X-1 team members. World renowned stunt pilot Bob Hoover was Yeager's chase pilot that fatefull morning. It is a beautifully illustrated book with 125 photos, many from the authors private collections that have never been seen by the public or published before. It also includes a chapter on famous aviatrix and motion picture stunt pilot Pancho Barnes and her Happy Bottom Riding Club. Pancho offered a free steak to the first man to break the sound barrier (Mach One) and Yeager collected that steak on Oct. 14th 1947. Pancho's Club was the fraternity house for the test pilots, where they could share lessons learned in flying the new jets and to celebrate surviving for one more day

It is a brilliant saga of dedication to duty, team work, camaraderie, technical brilliance, unmatched flying skills and heroism. These men are true heroes and role models for todays youth.

The most edifying book outside of the bible.

No, book has even come close to helping me draw closer to God (Other than the bible itself). Bob Russell is an extremely gifted writer. This book is a must have for any Christian. It can be used for personal bible study and for classroom study. The book covers a broad range of subject, that are dealt with in the book of 2nd Corinthians. This man is truly blessed from God.

Good Even If You Don't Like Mega-Churches
This book, "When God Builds a Church," contains biblical principles and real-life examples for building a strong, evangelistic church. Although I am opposed to the mega-church model and much of the church growth movement for doctrinal reasons, I recommend this book because the general principles it advocates are sound and can be adapted for use in congregations anywhere, without necessarily embracing the big church idea. As a missionary in Brazil, South America I found this work to be encouraging, and hope to implement many of its ideas in a new church work here.

Good Principles for Consideration
In this interesting and highly readable book, the author identifies and discusses "ten principles for growing a dynamic church." They are:

1. Truth: Proclaim God's Word as Truth and Apply it to People's Lives
2. Worship: Worship God Every Week in Spirit and in Truth
3. Leadership: Develop Christ-Centered Leaders Who Lead by Example
4. Excellence: Do Your Best in Every Area of Service
5. Faith: Be Willing to Step Out with a Bold Faith and Take Risks
6. Harmony: Maintain a Spirit of Harmony
7. Participation: Expect the Congregation to Participate in Every Area of Ministry
8. Fellowship: Continually Practice Agape Love for One Another
9. Stewardship: Give Generously of God's Resources as a Church and as Individuals
10. Evangelism: Commit Enthusiastically to Evangelism as Your Primary Mission

The author devotes a separate chapter to each of these principles in which he describes its scriptural basis and discusses its implementation in real life settings. This discussion includes a wealth of very practical information and advice on how to apply the principles effectively, and how to avoid or overcome stumbling blocks and problems.

Although one may disagree with the precise way in which the principles have been applied in the author's own "mega-church," the principles themselves appear fundamentally sound and can profitably be adapted in other congregational settings.

Great book, must be read with all church growth books
This book reminds us that a church can grow with out compromising spiritual values. This book is not a management book. It provides 10 principles that have worked for South East Christian Church, and can be adapted and used by any one. In fact we are encouraged not to try to use a cookie cutter approach. If I were to recommend two books for church growth, they would be The Purpose Driven Church, and When God Builds a Church.

Find Us Faithful

It is Faithful
Whether you are looking for material that will strengthen your parenting or grand-parenting, or you are just interested in developing your child's spiritual life, this book by Bob Russell is very helpful. The outline of the book provides various biblical characters and how they struggled and yet succeeded in passing along the torch of faith to the next generation. The material is very helpful and instructive and can easily be used in a classroom format or small group discussion. The character studies are not the only means by which the author uses to pass on the torch. He also relates the story to contemporary issues in family life. I believe this is a noteworthy book for any pastor, teacher, parent, grand-parent or soon to be parent who is concerned with the faith that we are leaving or failing to leave to the next generation.

An eye-opening and soul searching experience
I enjoyed this book from cover to cover, and each topic in between. I read this book in just 2 days as it was hard to put down andI was eager to get to the next subject. I waspleased with the author's use scriptures as they pertained to the subject at hand, and condensing them to "layman's" terms and simple analogies. Not only a new way to think about or to view money, but a new understanding of myself, relationships with others and with God.
