This author has a way with words.
I first purchased this book to familiarize my three year old son about the beach. The more I read this book, the more I liked it. The illustrations are incredible. The author has such a beautiful flow of words. I even used this book to do a lesson presentation in one of my graduate classes. I absolutely cannot wait for the authors next book to be available.

Fun at the Beach.....
What's better than a sun-filled, fun-filled day at the beach. Hearing the sea gulls squawk and playing in the sand. Making a new friend and building a giant sand castle together. You can put seashells on your toes and seaweed in your hair, play in the waves and get sand everywhere. It's fun to eat a picnic lunch on your towel, play catch with a big beach ball, wave at faraway boats and explore the rocks and tidal pools finding starfish and minnows..... Patricia Hubbell has captured those wonderful carefree childhood days in her terrific new picture book and youngsters 3-7 will delight in all the glorious summer fun. Told in lilting rhyme, her joyful text is enhanced by Lisa Campbell Ernst's soft, sun-shiny, expressive illustrations that will transport you to the beach on a perfect summer day even if the snow is falling outside your window. Sea, Sand, Me! is a wonderful addition to your home library and a book children will beg to read again and again.

A great book loaded with useful forms and checklists
This book is a very useful book chock full of good information and useful forms and checklists. Although this book is a little more expensive then some others in its class, the large workbook format of this book helped make it a working plan and helped keep my project organized.

Disappointed
I frequently buy travel guide books when going on vacation, however, I found this one disappointing. Although, it was filled with a variety of information, the authors did not share their personal opinions with the reader. I made some bad choices based on the book's content. After our vacation, I felt that had I written to the Welcome Center prior to our trip, I would have been equally satisfied.

A Myrtle Beach Vacation
I just finished reading this travel guide to Myrtle Beach and I am definitely primed to go now!The book does a great job of being truthful and honest about the lodgings, prices of the restaurants and quality of the cuisines, where the best golf courses are (for the boyfriend), and just how crazy the nightlife can get. I'm staying at Broadway at the Beach, and apparently I am in for a huge party! I absolutely cannot wait and I had to get out my bathing suit and model it after reading the book. I just wish that more pictures had been included so I could see those beaches ahead of time...

Problems
First, if your buying this book thinking it was published in September of 2000 (as they list it) don't buy it! I emailed the help department at Amazon.com and they told me it was published in September of 2000 and it was not! Amazon.com, update and recheck you publication information before you post it--the date was the only reason I purchased the book, which was terrible if you must know.

WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE SCENES??
I WAS APART OF THIS WHOLE SITUATION A LONG TIME AGO. SOME PEOPLE WERE LEFT OUT OF THE MIX LIKE MAINTENANCE MAN BILL "VASILIOS" MARKANTONAKIS. I WONDER WHAT HAPPEND TO SUCH CHARACTERS. I REALLLY FEEL LISA WAS SWEPT OFF HER FEET. SHE COULD HAVE GIVEN THANKS TO THE PEOPLE THAT TOLD HER THE TRUTH. INSTEAD SHE GOES ON TO TALK SHOEWS AND DISCUSSES HOW IT WAS HER OWN PERSONAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT THAT SAVED HER. iDF IT WASNT FOR TWO SPECIFIC INDIVIDUALS MAKING A PHONE CALL WHO KNOWS WHAT REALLY MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED. BUT THESE MINOR DETAILS ARE IGNORED.

Knowing one of the victims
Knowing Kevin(Mark) Ramsey made reading this book very difficult. I thought it was a great book even if I did through it across the room a few times. I like true crime books and this is one of the best I've read.

A misleading title leads to a disappointing travel book
I bought this book on the premise of showing me some of the little known facts of Walt Disney World. For example: The secrets about the names on the windows of mainstreet; the mysterious hoof prints leading to the Haunted Mansion; or hidden details that I know nothing about.

Unfortunately, after going on our trip, I found it was a water-down version of the far-superior Birnbaum's Guide to Disney World.

My suggestion? Stick with Mr. Birnbaum...I know I will.

Great for information on the rest of Orlando
This book was very helpful during our recent trip. I packed it in the backpack to carry in the theme park. I found it highly superior to the Birnbaum book on Disney because this one will tell which rides are worth missing and which are must see's. The Birnbaum book, being the "official" Disney book is just a little too rosy about everything. Hidden Orlando gives the real scoop. I loved the section on Sea World too.

Not that great
Most of the imformation is available from the 2 or 3 freebie beach guides that can be found everywhere in Myrtle Beach. And, just at a glance, I could see that a number of great restaurants were missing.
