A True Insiders View of the World's Oldest Profession
Sidney Biddle Barrows was groomed to be a people person all her life and, because of it, took the prostitution biz to the next level. She saw what was wrong with the industry and fixed it, big time. As I read through the descriptions of excellent client relations that her service, Cache, provided; I found myself wishing my name was in the little black book.

In addition to reading about an interesting illegal business (which really shouldn't be), the book also fills the reader with vivid imagery of NYC in the early and mid 1980's.

The best book on the interworkings of the flesh-trade I've ever read.

Interesting insights to the flesh market
This book provided informative and entertaining values to the flesh trade market as it pertained to the New York area

future of prostitution
This book clearly etablishes that prostituion fgr women need not be a degrading profession. As the Madam has suggested women could beenift from being prosituites. They receive a crash course in dealing with the male sex without sacificing their sense of femininity. The book is written without a hint of apology. Plus this book is brilliant in exploring reasons men use prostitutes. This book is a must for any woman who wants to understand men.

A GREAT "How to Get Laid" Book!
A GREAT "How to Get Laid" Book written by two women, who give you a woman's perspective, who give you great insight on the female psychology. There are many tips "For HER Eyes Only" and "For HIS Eyes Only". The best person to teach you how to seduce a woman is a woman... duh! They teach you which buttons to push to maximize your opportunities for consensual sex! Read the book twice to be sure you don't miss anything!

Seduction for the thinking woman (or man)
Janet O'Neal is a genius at bringing out the ultimate seducerin all of us -- whether we be single, married, young, old, male, orfemale. (I feel the need to correct the above comment that this was written by 2 authors -- O'Neal is the only one, Barrows just wrote the foreword.) She gives not only great scenarios and ideas for seducing the object of your desire, but also delves into the emotional side, giving warnings on when seduction is "good" and when it is ill-intended. I highly recommend this wonderful, innovative book!

The "Bible" of Seduction and improving your ego
This book gives amazing insight on interaction between people (The book doesn't have to be used for heterosexual purpose), and all those small details that we, from time to time, forget. More than 1/2 my philosopy are based on this book...and even now I am in a happy long-term relationship, I still read it from time to time just to "tone-up" my skill...If they teach this book in highschool, I am sure a lot of people's love-life would go much easier (without the painful trial-and-error)...

mostly fluff
I picked this book up on a whim...drawn in by the idea that this woman would have some special insight about men that I didn't, and by its promise to explain what it is that makes a man "stray" from a relationship. Also, of course it's plain voyeurism, I wondered what it was like to be an expensive call girl...It quickly became very evident to me that this woman was successful because she brought class, business sense, and integrity to an industry full of abusive, crooked, well... [men]. She is a good businesswoman. But that is all. She does not have the slightest bit more insight into sex or the male psyche than any person off the street.

Her "suggestions" for being sexy for your man are just a list of rules that she required all her "girls" to follow. Hair and nail care, clothing, makeup--and everything reading like Suzy Q. Homemaker's Guide to Sexuality. Very much of the "lay back and let him have fun" school of thought. Strange that one so accustomed to the "nitty gritty" (her term!) of sex would have such immature ideas. Sex is obviously "just business" to her. Perhaps this is the only way to run a call girl agency, actually I would not be surprised. If you take a look at her photo on the cover you can begin to see her personality.

But don't worry, she does not know anything about your man that you don't. She can't wave some magic wand or push some button and have him panting at her feet. Nor is there anything she can tell you that will prevent him from doing so on his own if he so chooses.

If you are really interested in knowing about the call girl business that she ran then you might find it more interesting. She doesn't really speak from the perspective of the girls themselves (it is unclear if she ever actually, ahem.. MET "clients" herself, or if she just did the business side). But I suppose you could look at it from a "what makes a business successful" point of view. Maybe. Just remember she is no relationship expert.

One suggestion that I did agree with was that men just love sexy underwear that matches. And you should remember this when buying underwear and throw out the ratty stuff even when you don't see the need. There. Now I've told you all the good stuff, and you don't have to buy the book!

PS The information from this book would be interesting to consider in a debate on the legalization of prostitution. For one, she describes the terrible treatment of some prostitutes which she witnessed while answering phones for an escort service, before she "went into business" for herself. I must say for myself, her way seems a lot safer--and saner.

It doesn't live up to the title
I was disappointed in the book from the perspective that while it was titalating to get the perspective of Sidney (mostly because of her racy past) I didn't learn anything. Not that I have that much experience but only that I would think most women know everything she imparted. There is no real know how or instructions on how to get things done but just some general verbage on what should be done. Not that it's bad but I think if you have had one or two relationships already then this book is not the one for you. There are several other books on becoming a good lover and partner that far outshine this one. I believe it sells because of the novelty associated with the author and if you like the little juicy tidbits she throws out here and there you will probably enjoy the book. If you want real information on how to really succeed then get something else.

Listen to the Madam
Okay so I was pretty young when I read this book (17) but seriously, it was very, very educational. I then shared it with my mom who's remarried and she also benefited from it. I recommend this book, it's very adult though, and think the chapter entitled SAT is very worthwhile reading. :) Bye
