This book encapsulates all the raunch of the 70's.
Forget "Boogie Nights", because this is the real thing. This book has it all, and Rona tells it all in an unabashed, historically insightful style. An incredible read for the the 90's frame of mind to catch the whimsical surprises of the sexual scandalousness and controversial 70's. An r-rated style, that was subtly covered and smoothed over in Armistead Muapins's 'Tales of the City'. quotes: '...sometimes an enemy can be a condition secured within a person's pysche, which he rarely wishes to acknowledge. But there comes a time for casting-up, when the mirror of life (the facade) must be exchanged for the real mirror of the self (the soul). Even lovo-mananiacs have to face themselves eventually.' Recommended audience: intrigued individuals of the 'step above' "enquiring minds want to know" Shocking, revealing, outrageous, torrid. A termendous leap forward into the psyches of the 70's jet set; moreover to an uninhibited sexual exploration of secret and once forbidden lusts, and vices. Check out Dolly, the blue and white Diamond's confession on pages 352-354. Other recommended reads Candy by Terry Southern. Enjoy and brace yourself for a return exclusive trip back to the 70's. Only Rona Barrett, Hollywood's famed columnist could offer such a debauched account of the 70's mentality. Quote from Publisher's Weekly "Miss Barrett provides pleanty of sex- hetero, homo, and auto, not to mention astrology, movie glamour, true love, and tragedy...And as surely as God made little wormy apples, this looks like a best seller."

Rona Tells of Her Struggles To Make It To The Top
This book is truly a masterpiece. It tells of her very human struggles as a "fat Jewish kid" that children used to tease. Her desires and dreams to be "Miss Somebody" and her willingness to succeed at all costs. She tells secrets of her crushes on the famous people she met and how she found true love with her soul mate, Bill. She speaks of having been the first female, Jewish reporter and the politics behind broadcast journalism. This book is definitely worth reading!
