Poses a challenging, compelling argument
Reflective Practice To Improve Schools: An Action Guide To Educators defines reflective practice (approaches to teaching that require personal commitment to continuous learning and improvement) and discusses how reflective practice and continuous learning can be spread among teachers and applied throughout school systems to create a better educational base for our children's future. Tables, figures, point-by-point bulletins and black-and-white diagrams help illustrate the benefits of reflective practice. Collaboratively written by Jennifer York-Barr, William A. Sommers, Gail S. Ghere, and Jo Monite in an effort to present difficult undergraduate level concepts in clear language that can be easily grasped, Reflective Practice To Improve Schools poses a challenging, compelling argument and is highly recommended for any educator in search tips, tricks, and techniques for self improvement on the job.

Helpful & Fun!
After attending MANY bridal and baby showers throughout the years, my friends and I were looking for fresh, new ideas. Jennifer Barr has so many to choose from that you just can't miss! I love the 'Affair to Remembers', umbrella tips & summary pages found in each chapter for quick browsing. The ideas she shares, as well as the examples, are extremely helful and very creative. I would recomend this book to anyone considering tackling the job of shower hostess!

FABULOUS!!!!!
This book will save women all over the world a world of time. Remember the hours you've spent trying to think of fun games, and activities to keep your engaged or expecting friend's guests entertained? No longer will be on your own while planning showers. The Complete Idiot's Guide: Bridal and Baby Showers provides you with ideas, and suggestions from start to finish. Barr's writing style is both entertaining and easy to follow. This is a must have for every woman's library!

What a great idea!
I received this book as a gift and it is helping me so much to plan my sister's baby shower for triplets! The author has thought of everything (including sections on showers for multiples!) I thought that it would focus more on bridal showers, but have been pleasantly surprised by the vast amount of information on both baby and bridal showers. I never realized that there was so much to consider! What a great tool, I would highly recommend this to every person who will one day host this type of event.

Save Your Money -- Borrow It
A book about scrapbooking must have pictures; at least, that's how I feel. One can learn about supplies, paper quality, etc. from a knowledgeable shop-person. Layouts on the other hand requite creativity, and sometimes you need to see a few to get an idea. Further, there aren't enough pictures of the techniques that the author tries to explain. In scrapbooking, a picture is worth 1000 words. I would recommend going to your library and looking through whatever they might have before choosing one or two scrapbooking books to buy.

Pretty good, but could be better
This book is useful for the beginning scrapper - up to a point. The author starts with the basics (i.e., what is scrapbooking, what kind of albums are available, what qualities to look for in paper and adhesives, etc.) and then describes more advanced tools, techniques, and approaches. Many times these are helpful - other times they are just confusing or strange. The author's suggestions for how to organize materials, for instance, are often limited to approaches that reflect her own idiosyncracies and probably would not work for most people (who - other than this author - organizes colors by alphabetical order, or puts all Christmas pictures together without looking at chronological order, or puts all school pictures together without regard for whether the pictures are of different students?). Her suggestions, however, do provide a useful starting point and may inspire further thoughts. In addition, she offers interesting suggestions for ways to save money when getting started in this hobby. Look elsewhere if you are interested in inspiration for page layouts - that is not this book's focus.

Perfect for new scrapbookers
This book provided the help I needed to get started with scrapbooking. Ms. Barr takes you step by step through the process and offers ideas that are simple, but look great! Even the most unartistic person can create scrapbook pages they can't wait to share. I've recommended this book to several friends, and we refer to it often when we get together to work on our books. I don't even need to order doubles of my pictures anymore. If I mess up, Ms. Barr offers ideas on how to get around it and make my pages still look amazing. Very helpful!
