this books needs to be in print!

A very simple read on a very complex subject.
Mr. Abrams has done a very great service in his book. The information on this most unique algae is worth the read alone. In addition there is a most extensive overview of nutritional elements (contained in AFA) and their effects on the body and mind. Taken together we have a very simple, concise textbook understandable by all regardless of your interest in Algae. Excellent!

The truth about Nutritional Blue-Green Algae
Dr. Abrams has written a very easy reference book for those of us who are seeking the absolute best in nutrition for vibrant health! Aphanizomenon flos-aquae (AFA) is the most nutrient dense food available on earth. In this book, Dr. Abrams clearly explains how this natural superfood from Klamath Lake in Oregon can work for you. It's time to put to rest all the mis-information about this food, and should help the readers to choose which source to purchase from.

Outstanding Book of Inspirational Stories
Fraternity and sorority membership is honestly a lifetime commitment, but for most of us it began in college. This book brings back loads of memories of all that is good about these organizations. The stories included in "Inspiration for Greeks" are a reminder as to why our organizations exists.

It is important that the current members and leaders of these organizations spend time addressing the challenges that are faced by fraternities and sororities. This book goes back to the basics and addresses the reasons why most of us joined. Leadership, scholarship, fellowship -- opportunities for inspiration throughout our years as undergraduates...continuing for a lifetime of membership.

This paperback is a collection of inspiring and insightful stories. Those actively involved in fraternities and sororities will recognize the names on the cover as well as the names associated with many of the stories. The stories are encouraging, motivational, humorous, touching and even serious.

This book should be on the shelf of every member of the fraternity and sorority community, young and old alike.

The other side.... Greek life
We often hear only the negative aspects of Greek Life and how awful an experience it can be, especially if you're gay, lesbian or bisexual. While there is still much homophobia in the college Greek system, I was glad to read the positive perspective expressed by a gay man who came out to his brothers.... indeed, the world, Greek Life is changing for the better and this book sheds light on stories that will continue to inspire and change the future...

A must read for parents of potential Greek members!
Every year, thousands of parents send their children off to college. Some near, some far... but most out of reach when it comes to the decisions they may make once on campus. One of the choices they will make is whether or not to join a fraternity or sorority. This book provides great insight to the kinds of experiences a son or daughter could have as a Greek. In an era where the negative press outweighs the positive, it is refreshing that some good stories go to print. Inspiration for Greeks has the potential to ease the fears of parents who may know little to nothing about the college experience. If you're a parent, read it for yourself and send it with them when they go. They'll thank you for it!

Great Reading, Great Application
This book has been such a blessing to me as a wife. It presents numerous ways to strengthen your marriage without making you feel like you have to follow a certain formula, and, most importantly, without making you feel overwhelmed. It explains the importance of treating your spouse as you would treat a friend, how to handle conflicts, and how to really listen to your spouse. The ideas in the book can be put into effect immediately, with just the little things of everyday life.
The best aspect of this book is that it's not written in a condescending, clinical, tone. The authors share their own mistakes and mishaps through marriage, as well as stories that others have gone through. You can laugh with these stories, take their advice, and even be grateful for the person your spouse is. All said, it's a wonderfully uplifting and encouraging book.

Rock-Solid Marriage Review
This book contains superb practical advice. It is the Time Life Handyman book on marriage, and emphasizes fundamental common-sense ways to be a good spouse and make your partner feel loved and valued every day. It is a refreshing antidote to the childish culture of self-indulgence that populates our media, schools, and pop-psychology literature.

Rock-Solid Advice
Being married is hard and the authors know it. This is practical advice on how to put your marriage on the track to success. It is written from a Christian perspective, but is applicable for married people of any faith. Whether you are thinking of getting married or have been married for years, this book offers scenarios and thoughful discussion questions at the end of each chapter that is like having your own marriage counselor! It can strengthen weak marriages and make good marriages great. Get this book!

Objects First with Java: A Practical Introduction Using BlueJ

Object-Oriented Programming Taught Correctly!
Finally, a book that teaches objects and Java without any procedural programming baggage!

Unlike other books that introduce objects in chapter 4 or 5 (almost as an afterthought!) and start out with the pre-object "Hello World" program, this book dives right into creating objects and manipulating them. "public static void main" doesn't even rear it's ugly head until half-way through the book, where it belongs. The included Bluej IDE ... is incredibly easy to use and it's very intuitive.

I bought a copy of this for the library at work to help my team of procedural COBOL programmers understand objects and Java. It seems to be more valuable than the other books purchased and several thousand dollars of training.

Another benefit is that the examples you write from the text are actually useful tools!

Please, seriously consider getting this book if you are starting to learn Java or just don't quite understand objects. It will spare you a lot of frustration.

This text extends the Java paradigm like no other !
This text is so refreshing. It is presented using a more contemporary
approach than any other text on the market. (Believe me I have seen
a lot of them) because its presentation is pure concept without
overburdening one with unnecessary details.

Concepts are only introduced at a level necessary to understand the
task at hand and revisited later in different contexts to deepen one's
understanding. Project programs are relevant and many issues can be
learned from reading the source code. The authors have students
designing parts of programs from the first chapter. If you want to be a
professional programmer or a software engineer this book is for you !

The text is in tutorial style using the BlueJ IDE. The BlueJ IDE is
so visual and displays a UML like diagram representing classes
and relationships in the program projects. By using the BlueJ IDE
(included on the CD along with all the coding)
one can "feel" what it means to create an object, call a method, or pass
a parameter. One of the authors is a developer of the BlueJ IDE.

One is taught how to structure a vaguely described problem into classes
and methods. The text even includes a complete case study where all
topics discussed earlier are revisited ...from application design through
design of class interfaces, to discussing many important functional
and non-functional characteristics and implementation details.
You will see reliability, data structures, class design, testing and
extensibility applied in a new context.

Do all the exercises conscientiously and you will discover what I
am discovering......this textbook is worth its weight in gold. Enjoy !

About a lost race...
THis was a wonderful work of fiction in that it almost seemed to pay homage to some of the oldest fantasy books I've read. Its fresh in its writing and the authors style is fast paced and sometimes too much so, It reads nice and quick, had to read it again to soak it all in, after I got past the first two chapters I was hooked, this is not your everyday adventure book, though at first you might believe so, what a hoot! I cant wait to read book two, but this is a self published novel so seeing a second book i am sure would be dependent upon the readers demand. Lets go book two!

Must have for the win32 programmer!
Despite any errors in this book. It has the 1 thing that is lacking in almost all books DECENT examples. Combined with the MSDN library, and Programming Windows by petzold you can go very far. Today most people are so enamored with visual basic and wizards they never bother to learn HOW windows works. This book along with vol 2, can help you in get a better understanding of windows event based programming! It is not the end all be all of books LOTS of win32 calls are missing (after all its been a few years since 95!). But it has the core of them. This book is an great item for any win32 programmers tool belt.

Good book but does contain many errors
An excellent book only spoiled by numerous typographical errors in the text although you will find the source code on the companion CD to be largely correct. Although Windows 95 is nearing the end of its commercial lifespan this series of books is still valuable to anyone wanting to write backwardly compatible Windows 98 applications. Although the typographical errors in the source code in this book are fairly obvious, some errors in the 2nd Volume in this series (Windows 95:WIN32 Common Controls and Messages API Bible) are are extremely misleading. For instance on page 677 it states that the EN_MAXTEXT message contains the identifier of the edit control in the low 16 bits of the wParam variable when it is actually in the high word of wParam. Another place it falsely states that the callback function used by the EM_STREAMIN returns nonzero to continue transferring data. However this series of books is still invaluable for anyone still writing in WIN32.

Good series of books
I have bought the 3 books which form the API Bible series - all of them very worthwhile, especially the Common Controls and Messages book. It mentions every Windows Message you are likely to encounter, and also how to code the common Windows controls. The examples, although in C, are easy enough to translate. I program with PowerBASIC, and the Bible series is invaluable to my work.

One of the Best Books For Young Children on this Topic!
My daughter (toddler) got this book for Christmas, and asks for us to read it again and again. She also enjoys looking at the beautiful illustrations all by herself.

The book explains what every kindergarten student should know about the Presidency by using animals to grab the attention of young readers. It is not over simplified, leaving plenty of room for questions and looking up supplimental information.

There are not a lot of resources for parents who have very young children interested in government. The books in this series are very age-appropriate and informative. Even if your child is not specifically interested in government, it is a good story with some beneficial information.

Great book!!
Woodrow, the White House Mouse and the whole series are fantastic. Illustrator, Cheryl Shaw Barnes does an amazing job of bringing the White House to life with her beautiful watercolor and ink drawings. The rhyming text in each of the books is hilarious and instructive. These books will stay in our family library forever - treasures all!

All About the Presidency
Peter and Cheryl Barnes have taken the stuffiness out of the office of the presidency and written a picture book full of solid information that's perfect for youngsters 4-8 years old. Told in rhyme, Woodrow G. Washingtail's administration parallels that of his human counterpart. From his inauguration to work in the oval office, from sending bills to congress and meeting with foreign heads of states, to hosting the Easter egg roll and artistic events in the East Room, Woodrow explains how the president does his job. Cheryl Barnes' charming, detailed illustrations show actual White House rooms, furnishings and decor and Woodrow's first lady Bess is even wearing Mamie Eisenhower's gown, at the inauguration ball. At the end of the book, there are historical notes for teachers and parents, about the presidency and White House, to help expand discussions and lessons. Woodrow the White House Mouse is a delightful book, chock full of fun facts, history, and amusing descriptions that kids will find interesting and enjoy again and again.
