This putting book is a winner
One of the game's greatest putters helps the rest of us putt better. Although he provides some great hints on technique, better yet was his help on attitude. Approach menatally to putting is everything, once one has a basic technique down. I also really benefited from his method of reading greens. This book has helped me putt the ball in hole more often. Thanks Dave.

"There's no one better than Dave to improve your putting"
"Dave Stockton is the world's greatest putter! After knowing Dave and following his career for the last thirty-five years, I would highly recommend his book. Dave Stockton's positive attitude that every putt is makeable, combined with line and speed, will make a champion putter. After reading this remarkable book, you will look forward to putting. Dave's great success on both the PGA and Senior PGA Tours is a result of his fantastic putting. Whenever my putting needs attention, I always refer back to Dave's book. His practical suggestions has taught me to keep my thought process simple but very effective. Again, Dave Stockton is a great friend. Also, his book is a good friend when I need help with my putting."

America's Guest: Gone, but not forgotten
The late, great George Low, putter extrordinare, is no longer with us, but his incomparable guide to putting remains as his legacy to all adherents to the adage "Drive for show, putt for dough !".

Low's statement, "I never owned an overcoat", characterizes the man and the legend. As a personal adviser to Palmer, Nicklaus, and countless others, his personal contribution to the winning of many of golf's major championships cannot be estimated, only appreciated.

An extremely interesting book from one of golf's greats, a true American original ! Don't read if you're not interested in improving your scoring !

Gettin to the Dance Floor is chocked full of good stories
Gettin to the dance floor is a book full of stories which can create inspiration in any golfer. To truly appreciate the game of golf you must know something about its past. This books covers the stories of Bill Spiller, Gene Sarazan, Sam Snead, and much more.... If you are curious about them or the history of golf this is a must have book..

"Must" reading for all golfing fans and enthusiasts!
Gettin' To The Dance Floor is a unique and memorable history of American golf by former editor of Golf Magazine, Al Barkow. Included are first-hand accounts from legendary golfers such as Lighthorse Harry Cooper, Byron Nelson, Sam Snead, Gene Sarazen, and others. Gettin' To The Dance Floor describes how much of a grind it was for a player to be part of the Tour. Scraping up enough cash to eat, finding a ride to the next tournament, finding sleeping arrangements, all the while searching for a better golf swing with nowhere to practice and not time to do it. All this while keeping a club job and a family together while traveling around the country in the middle of the Depression. Gettin' To The Dance Floor is "must" reading for anyone who ever dreamed of going on Tour or who has admired those who did.

Barkow Can Dance ! And Write !
I had an opportunity to read "Gettin' To The Dance Floor" five or six years ago, having found it in the golf collection of the main branch of the Washington, DC, public library.

Barkow's extremely interesting profiles of historic golf figures rekindled my long-dormant interest in the game, and had me checking out 5 or 6 books at a time !

One of Al's profiles, on "Wild Bill" Melhorn, a star of the '20s and contemporary of Walter Hagen's (Hagen rated Melhorn's 2-iron as the best in the game, in a listing of the best players with each club), provided information allowing me to contact the author of a privately-published book on Melhorn.

I ordered 2 copies, one for a friend, and was extremely delighted to read of the exploits of one of the very good, but lesser-known greats, of golf's transitionary era from the wooden shafts of the'20s to the introduction of steel shafts in the '30s.

If Tiger hasn't read "Gettin' To The Dance Floor" (and he probably has !), he should. There are several compelling profiles of little-known (today) black golf pioneers.

Every fan of golf's history in America during the period from 1920 - 1960 will enjoy this book. A great read !

The second move
If you haven't read 'One Move' by the same author the rating should be five stars because 'One Move' is out of print and 'Getting Set for Golf' is the only book explaining the good method in 'One Move.'

This book will give you a lot of swing thoughts and practical tips. Though I still want to have a copy of 'One Move' (I read it in our local library) this book is a good replacement for it.

THE ONLY GOLF INSTRUCTION BOOK NECESSARY
This book is excellent and will help your golf game to improve quickly. It is not as good as his previous instruction book which revolutionalized golf instruction (seriously), However it is the best available today. This book and One Move to Better Golf are great companions and the two books complete my library of golf instruction books. In 1977 I acquired "one Move" and quickly became a low single digit handicap at 15 years old after playing only 1 year, 2 years later I was able to choose my college because of the many scholarship offers. My colegiate career was blessed with 13 wins in 4 years as a result of Carl's book, Professionally I earned over $2 million before sustaining an injury that prevents me from playing 4 days in a row. However as a weekend player this method allows me to maintain a +3 handicap without hours of practice or the stregnth and flexibility I once enjoyed.

BUY THIS BOOK. READ IT. LOVE IT. Write the author and ask for a re-release of the original book as well.

The Best Instruction Book in Golf, BAR NONE!
Carl Lohren teaches how to perpetuate the most important asset in the golf swing, left side dominance. His teachings of the preset and swing make it easy to keep the club on plane, get the maximum power at impact, hit the ball consistently on the clubface, and allow your "big" muscles to control the swing (not your hands and arms) for maximum control. His principle of openness at address and starting the swing with ONLY the left shoulder gives the golfer the ability to control the ball and "swing late" to maximize power without having to think about (which is nearly impossible to do). His easy to understand principles are the reason for my game's vast improvement. Treat this book as your Bible of golf and you will be amazed at your incredible increase in power and control in your game.
