The most complete and detailed book about Lemmons films
This big volume (1986) is the best book ever written about the films of Jack Lemmon. (When you have read other Citadel film books you know what I am talking about). After an Hommage by Walter Matthau and a foreword by famous film critic Judith Crist follows a very thorough biography. His private life, film career, stage career up to "Long days journey into the night", anecdotes, citations, gossip and hundreds of photos - everything is there.

The centerpiece of this book is, of course, the complete description of his films from "It should happen to you" (1953) to "That's Life" (1986). Each film is commented on at least 4-6 large pages, complete with plot, scene-photos, and a selection of the critic's voices, like Pauline Kael, Judith Crist, John Simon, Time, Newsweek , New Yorker etc..., ranging from enthusiastic to beastly.

Again: It's the best book ever written about Lemmons films. 286 pages in A4 format.

A recommandation: The best and most detailed Lemmon biography is by Don Widener. Avoid Michael Freedman's book. The version from the early eighties is just superficial, but his updated version (2002) available under the horrible title "Some like it cool" has absolutely nothing to offer. He could have left the pages blank as well. Don't spend money on this book.
