Great exercises for abs!
Overall, the book is easy to read and the numerous pictures leave no doubt about how to perform each exercise. The six-week plan and diet suggestions will help anyone looking to improve their body, regardless of their current condition. Additionally, I found the exercises for toning and strengthening your abs, and all the muscles in your core, to be particularly useful. I've always had a soft belly, but by using the ball and the recommended exercises, I've seen a noticeable difference. These muscles are notoriously difficult to strengthen with traditional weights and nautilus equipment, but need to be worked because they are so important in nearly every sport. The ball workout is one of the best I've found for working your core. Dr. Applegate provides excellent exercises for the whole body and doing them on the ball forces you to work your core to stay balanced.

Get fitter than ever!
Bounce Your Body Beautiful tells you everything you need to know about the hottest fitness trend in American--fitness balls. Even better, it offers numerous exercise programs that are convenient, fun, and extrememly effective. I've been doing these workouts for a month now and my belly is the flattest it has been in years and my butt has definition I've never seen before. I really like that I can do the routines in my home, whenever I find spare snippits of time. The author has also provided an eating plan that includes dessert! Though it may sound too good to be true, it's based on science and it definitely works. I've lost 5 pounds already.

Difficult. beautiful, underappreciated genius
Long before the beat movement or the hippies comes such a beautiful work from one of the most honest and daring individuals to ever live and then be forgotten in this world. The title says it best. Hugo Ball is probably the most important guide (in my life). You should read this and see if any of it rubs off on you.

A Unique Supplement to Catholic History
P>Anybody with an interest in saints and/or Catholic history will not be disappointed in this book. Some subjects portrayed in SAINTS - St. Faustina, Jacinta and Francisco Marto, and St. Katherine Drexel among others - will be familiar to many Catholics, yet their stories are so compelling they are worthy of repeat readings, and the authors given the task of these biographies have done these holy people justice in their words.

What attracted me most to this project was the opportunity to write about lesser known saints. We know the stories of St. Therese and St. Francis, but what about the martyrs of Mexico who prayed and died alongside Miguel Pro? Pro expert Ann Ball offers a brilliant summary of those who died in the anti-Catholic purges of Mexico (interesting note: Ann Ball is the only contributor cited in Robert Royal's book of 20th century martyrs; Royal wrote the introduction to SAINTS).

SAINTS recounts tales of St. Andrew the Catechist of Vietnam, the 120 Catholics martyred for the faith in China, and Sister Maria Josefa, foundress of the Servants of Jesus. In all, 164 saints and blesseds are covered in this slim book, nowhere near the number of people canonzied by Pope John Paul II. Yet, SAINTS provides a glimpse into a most extraordinary year for beatifications and canonizations through biographies of people who live on through their faith.

Blessed Miguel Pro
The life of this great martyr and St is filled with so much laughter, danger, fun and excitement. It tells the story of a brave young man that dodged the police in the time of the persecution in Mexico to bring the Sacrements to the dying. His life ends in the most heroic way, after serving God and man on earth, he became a martyr for Christ. He is a shining example of what a true Christian should be. He is my hero. His life is so humorous and exciting you won't be able to put the book down. This is definitely the greatest book. I would recommend it for everyone, young and old.

Beautiful!
Thank you Ann Ball for bringing to life for us this beautiful saint in such a beautiful way. Truly inspiring.

An inspiration for all
Ms. Ball has written a great work detailing real life stories of people who gave their minds, bodies, and souls to a cause. This is a work that will inspire all people, Catholic and otherwise, who dedicate their lives to an ideal. I was especially pleased that she reserved a chapter for the inspirational life of Rogelio Gonzalez Corzo, code-named "Francisco," a young leader of the anti-Communist/anti-Castro underground in Cuba. This deeply religious man, an agricultural engineer only in his late twenties, a Catholic school graduate, and a leader of the Agupacion Catolica Universitaria, bravely took on the puppets of the Soviet Empire in his country. He never doubted his actions, and in his famous letter to his family just before hsi execution, he wrote, "Death is already knocking at my door, but as all my companions I have great peace of mind, because cost what it may it will show me the way to heaven and eternal happiness."
Ms. Ball is to be highly commended for her work. The others featured in the book, from a wide range of backgrounds and nations, were extrememly well selected. Not only does her choice of modern saints make the book attractive and inclusive, but truly speak to the transnational connection of Roman Cathilics around the world. A great book.

Saints Alive!
The saints are human beings just like us, but formerly hagiographers tended to make them unreal. Ann Ball has shown a marvelous talent to bring them within our reach. They had problems and difficulties like the rest of us, but with God's help they revealed a true heroism that inspires us toward goodness.

Wonderful Companion to the First Volume
It doest look as if Amazon has made an error in combining reviews from Ann Ball's first volume, and this more recent second volume.

Faces of Holiness II is another of Ball's gripping books of modern saints. Like the first, it introduces the reader to many largely unknown saints through both words and numerous photographs.

A respected hagiographer, Ball has assembled a unparalleled collection of modern blesseds, venerables, and saints.

This work, like her first, is thoroughly inspiring. It introduces the reader not to saints that lived long ago, but to more modern individuals that had lives just like those of our friends, family, and neighbors. The stories are very accessible.

The book includes more than 100 biographies of the saints, a complete biography, and an index.

The biographies include those of Satoko Kitahara from Japan, Knights of Columbus founder Michael Joseph McGivney, Spanish teen Alexia Gonzalez-Barros, and the Visitandine Martyrs of Spain.

The photographs alone are worth the price of this book.

This would be a wonderful book to read to your children.

Modern Saints Book One
Old book and probably out of print, but would be a great addition to anyone's library who is into Saint tracking. I only have book one, but I continually look for any of the follow on books. Ball is very good about explaining the Saints in this book and the "soon to be" Saints as well. In fact I especially like her chapters on the Blessed and the Venerable. The Saints she covers in this volume are very interesting because they are the lesser known Saints and they come from all over the world. Names include Saint Benildus, Saint Julie Billiart, Saint Bernadette Sourbirous, Saint Charbel Makhlouf, and my favorite of the most recent Saints Pio of Pietrelcina (who was still just a Padre at the time of publishing). 55 holy people in all. A very nice collection. Each persons life and accomplishments are summarized in about 10 pages along with pictures of most. Pick it up if you can find it.

This is a book of lists
This really is a handbook of sacramentals. It lists (in a somewhat boring way) different sacramentals, such as medals, scapulars and rosaries. Be sure that you are interested about sacramentals, this is not a book of different customs or traditions!

Excellent book on Catholic sacramentals~~like the title says
This books is exactly what it says it is~~a book about sacramentals. I have found it to be extremely helpful in explaining the many items we use as Catholics in our faith. It is a wonderful book that I think every Catholic should have in their faith library!!!
