Great overview of construction
This book is a great overview of construction - it covers building stages ranging from the foundation to framing to roof details to types of siding available. Some electrical basics discussed, tips and tricks to keep in mind -- overall a good, lucid, well-thought out book that can get you started with construction.

Grassroots info on building your own home
From tools to termites, this book is an excellent reference tool for the construction novice (the person who is a neophyte to the trade, yet yearns to build their own home). This is a fine jumping-off point to more trade-specific references. It has given me the confidence to build my own house, even though I can't swing a hammer without hitting my thumb. Detailed drawings and illustrations complement a text that works from the "ground floor" up (forgive the pun) to the finishing touches aimed at the asthetic level.

THE GREAT UNTOLD STORY
In all the books written about The Beatles, the Australian tour of July 1964 is usually dismissed with the three word reference "Far East Tour". This book was the first attempt to redress that injustice. Quite simply, the Beatles tour turned Australia upside down. In Adelaide 600,000 people gathered outside the hotel where they were staying (Adelaide had a population of 1.4 million). John Lennon told reporters "This is the greatest reception we've had anywhere in the world". In this book, acclaimed rock historian Glenn A. Baker chronicles the tour, and the visit to New Zealand. There is one glaring inaccuracy - it is claimed that the group slept with hundreds of young girls during the tour. This has been discredited by Ringo and George. Anybody familiar with the group would know that there was simply no time for this type of funny business, besides Brian Epstein kept them on a tight reign and wouldn't have allowed it. This part was probably included to get some cheap headlines in Australia's more salacious tabloids. One interesting section is the information on Jimmy Nicol, the stand-in drummer who filled in for Ringo during the first half of the tour. There is also the devastating photo showing Nicol sitting in a deserted airport terminal waiting for the flight back to England. All in all this book is a must for any serious Beatle afficionado. It gives a stark illustration of a country still coming to grips with not only a rock tour but a whole social phenomenon.

I give it an "eh"
First of all, the book had some really great pictures. That's the good thing about this book. The ONLY good thing. The bad thing is that most of the information is wrong, wrong, wrong! There are many errors in this book, and it'll get Monkees fans really really confused (it happened to me!) Now, I just like to look at the pictures in the book. Steer clear, don't read!

A very informative and entertaining book!
This is by far the most informative literary piece I have read on the Monkees. I have read numerous magazine articles and interviews but only one other book-"Hey, Hey, We're the Monkees" by Harold Bronson (which I really enjoyed). This book however was packed with pictures, information and incredibly detailed stories about the Monkees individually and as a group that I hadn't seen or heard before. I couldn't put it down. The only thing that bothers me about the validity of the information provided is that twice, the author states Peter's longtime girlfriend Reine Stewart as being the daughter of famous actor James Stewart. I am also a Jimmy Stewart fan and know this is absolutely not true (I know all four of his children and Reine is not one of them). This makes me question what other tidbits of information are not true. Otherwise, I loved the book and would recommend it to anyone (Monkees fan or not).

Monkee Mania is right.............
This is a very fascinating book to have around and read. It's very interesting and again it's very informative. It has everything you want to know about all four monkees. It has nice interesting pictures as well. And also a very collectble book.
