Good summary
This book is good at the summary at the end of each chapter, but some details in the chapter is not cover. For example, like the law requirement in TX. There is mistake in the book on page 9. On the figure1.3, supposed Heavy Manufacturing instead of Industrial Real Estate repeat twice. This book should provide some excerise to work on. For example, like the math problem, let us know how to calculate the formula.

Full of good statistics
Took this course a few years ago, and we used this book. It is a good starter book. There are others out there that could be used also, but this one is written at the average persons reading level. It also is good becuase it covers all properties not just apartments or retail etc..

Gives a good depth into the Animal Rights issue
The essays contained within this book are well chosen, however those supporting the use of animals in research (most of them) simply attack the articles written for the support of animal rights. Whereas the animal rights articles address the issues involved with experimentation. This book is worth reading however should be supplemented with other books to get a good knowledge base about the issues. I would suggest Animal Liberation by Peter Singer as a good start or Diet for a New America by John Robins.

Not a book for inquisative people
This book was very appualing, it was not up to the caliber of the books I usually read. There was not very much controvercy, that you would expect from a book like this. Although the complexity of the few decent stories that they had, it was very easy to understand. My son got ahold of this book, and was soon asking me all there questions about abortion. I thought it to be very unappealing. It offered a weak collection of essays from both side of the operating table. But, my friend, Brad Bucholtz (who lives in Berlin, WI) liked it very much, he bought 10 copies of this book for his whole family!

The Ethics of Abortion: The Discussion's Ablest Contributors
I'm an M.A. student in philosophy who has found this collection very useful and representative of the current state of the issue in American ethics. It contains landmark essays by landmark people and could be of much use both to the lay reader and in ethics classes. One must conclude that the gentleman who found the volume 'appualing' [sic] would be best served by english instruction and higher education before stumbling into untranslated Anglo-American philosophy.

An editor's opinion
I am one of the editors of this book. I think it's valuable because it includes articles that lay out broad issues in both journalism and entertainment, then articles that look at specific complaints people have, and then articles with proposed solutions. Teaching from this book can allow students to evaluate each component of the arguments. I particularly like the introduction, which offers a framework for analyzing ethics in the media.

Worthless lopsided pseudo debate
The editors of this book must have a background in mainstream mass media. I say this because this book reads much like a "debate" that would appear in said format. It gives the pretense of examining an issue but falls way short. Instead of inviting a whole spectrum of perspectives the debate is framed in the narrow of fashion. What we have here is a debate between ultra conservatives and moderate conservatives. The editors have to be either highly biased or simply dimwitted and unimaginative to have gone to the length of putting together a book examining pornography as a contemporary issue AND NOT HAVE SOMEBODY WHO IS ACTUALLY IN THE PORN INDUSTRY!!! Any outsider who should happen across this book would come away with the perception that porn in America is something consumed by only a small group of degenerates as defined by christian nazis and other prudes. Seeing that this is a revised editon there is a possibility that the editors will have an opportunity to show that they can allow a fair and impartial debate of the issue. Perhaps including the voices of some articulate porn insiders such as Nina Hartley or Bill Margold or Susie Bright would freshen up any future volumes.
