This is a great breakthrough for young children who are just starting to read chapter books. This were my first chapter books and I have mostly always enjoyed them through my years. Now I am much older and I find these books still very entertaining at times. A great books for young kids just reading chapter books and it has great pictures too!
It even has research suggestions for a wide variety of students - see the later chapters.
My boyfriend is a fitness leader and he loves it because it provides evidence-based exercise programs for women and men of different ages and abilities.
Well done authors - thanks from the bottom of my heart!
This story takes place in the school yard with friendly Eddie, Howie, Liza and Melody.
Eddie doesn't believe in angels. Eddie is double dared to climb a tree. He tries, but Eddid fell out of the tree, and is caught by a stranger. His friends try to convincehim that she was his guardian angel. The stranger hands them tickets to a karate demo to watch the stranger. The next day Melody believed the strangers angel Miss Michael was a guardian angel. The four friends spied on Miss Michaels for proof that she is an angel. They found no proof and she left the school. Melody still believed she was an angel but Eddie didn't because angels don't do karate.
I really liked the book because it was about an angel. I think that everyone that believes in angels like I do would really like the story. If you don't believe in angels you might change your mind after you read this book.
If I were any of you kids out there I would really, really, really, ... want to read this extremely good book. This book was so good that when I was reading the last chapter, I couldn't sleep until I finished. Read this book. You won't regret it. Everybody loves these Bailey School Kids books! THEY ROCK!
PS YOU MUST JUST MUST BUY IT !!!!!
For someone who has gone to nursing school, though, she certainly doesn't seem to know much about health: first off, she seems to have forgotten that kids need to drink water!! Secondly, she has a very strange eye chart with symbols that don't resemble English letters at ALL!! Besides, what do all those weird words she says all the time really mean? You don't suppose she could be a MARTIAN, do you??
This book marks the 18th in the popular Bailey School Kids series. Each book introduces some strange sort of person who could (or maybe, could NOT) be a supernatural creature. It's a fast paced series with the gang typically throwing insults at each other, "we'd better go in before Liza sneezes her head off". Many books in the series are creepy, some are fun and silly. "Martians Don't..." lies somewhere in between. The characters are silly, but if there really IS a martian coming down to earth to invade the planet, wouldn't you be a bit wigged out??
A good choice for an intermediate reader, these books are well illustrated and the text is large and easy to read. An advanced reader (like an adult) can get through one in about 45 minutes or less, making them good choices for storytimes. Many of the books can be applied to different holidays or seasons ("Santa Claus Doesn't Mop Floors" or "Cupid Doesn't Flip Hamburgers", for instance).
It's a fun series even for older students and children (I've read about 30 of them, most of which I've not even used in class!!) and definitely worth checking out.
I enjoyed this book because it was funny and interesting. This story comes complete with sword fights and jousting matches. Maybe Eddie should have taken flute lessons instead. If you want to find out why you will just have to read the book.
Ryan, age 8
My favorite character is Liza because she is very nice. Eddie thinks he is the best at everything but he is not. There is Melody, who is really bossy, and Howie, who is really good at science. If you read this book, it will be the best!
Eddie loves the fair and wants to go on The Monster, a roller coaster. There is someone who hates the noise of The Monster. What is bothering this person?
Everythings noise is going out. The person is selling t-shirts with trolls on them. They look like her. But if J.J (the troll) doesn't have a jewel, then she's bad! The Bailey School Kids have to stop J.J. before the whole world is out of sound!
I made a barn out of a shoebox and made my story inside the box. I made a scene of all the things that happened in this book. I turned this project into our teacher Mrs. South at school. 3rd grade
Will the lights turn on? Will the wolfman die? Do wolfmen hula dance? What's going on? It's up to The Bailey School Kids to find out!
