I read this book as a child and loved it. It is the story of a stray cat who eventually finds a home with people to love him. It was written in 1938 by Tom Robinson with beautiful charcoal illustrations by Peggy Bacon. It is a must-read for a child as well as an adult.

I read and re-read this book I don't know how many times!!
The characters in this book are varied and interesting - as is each of Opalina's nine lives.

In a nutshell, this book is wonderful!!

I sincerely hope that there is a publisher who appreciates children's classics will realize how incredible this book is.

As a mother with precocious toddlers, purchasing a ... version of this book is not wise. However, not making this book available for a new generation of children (in the ... range) is a complete shame.

I, too, have been searching for this book since my mother read it to my brother and me in our childhood. Now that I am on-line, I had high hopes of obtaining a copy for my mother for Christmas. Sadly, I don't remember many details from this story, but reading the reviews helped refresh my memory. What I do remember is how the story made me feel, and how my imagination soared through time with all of Opalina's adventures. PLEASE help us unite to get this awe-inspiring book back into print!

This is a great children's book - too bad it is out of print.I can remember reading it myself as a first or second grader...it really inspired my imagination of what it must have been like to have lived in the times that Opalina spoke about.I will always rememeber this as the first book I could consider "mine" in the school library.If you can access the library search in your area, you may just find a local libraray that still has this on their shelves - I did and will ask my local library to help me get this wonderful book for my 7 year old daughter to read and enjoy, as I did at her age.
