Captivating!
This was an excellent book! It takes place at an inn on the Pacific Northwest coast. The setting is so realistic, you almost forget you're reading a novel! I truly felt like I was right there in the middle of the story. It was a lovely romance and I highly recommend this book!

You must read this one!
A great love stroy of an inn owner, Connie and a writer, Anthony. She has had a couple of disappointments in her previous relationships and that's why she is being a bit cautious. But the first time Anthony set his eyes on her, he knew she's the one for him... sparks were flying between the two of them. A lot will happen...but why don't you read the book yourself. I did and I loved it! So now I can warmly recommend it to everybody!

excellent read!
This heart warming story of love has truly touched me. I enjoyed reading every chapter. Wonderfully written!

i loved the pictures of marilyn
i loved this book "marilyn " because of the most beautiful pictures of marilyn, these pictures were the last pictures ever taken of marilyn and they show the real true beautiful person and that is norma jeane and the glamor beautiful star marilyn monroe. these pictures show two people one the shy , beautiful, loveable, true, norma jeane and the funny , glamor, beautiful, free, loving marilyn monroe, but it really shows the true norma jeane in these pictures. this book is for the marilyn fans like me, but i am more than a fan of marilyn's , marilyn is my idol my icon and she is real . i reccomened this book to whoever loves marilyn. this is a collectible. what i did not like about this book is the author gloria she says marilyn had killed herself, which i DO NOT BELIEVE , which i beleive is not true, but i ignored that , but the pictures are amazing.

Marilyn - (Abridged)
This is a beautiful photo expose' of Marilyn just six short weeks of her tragic and untimely death. As the first reader/reviewer has stated, this book was written with references to the stars' sexual abuse and family history, which lead to her emotional problems dating from adolescence. Gloria Steinem wrote this work without any 'bias' to this movie legend. I found her writing to be sensitive and understanding throughout. George Barris' photographs are as beautiful and will forever be timeless images of this very remarkable screen star of the 20th century throughout the next millenium. This book should be considered a "must have" for the Monroe fan and collector.

Insightful & reverent
Gloria Steinem explores Marilyn's life through an empathic and feminist perspective in one of my favorite Monroe biographies. Ms. Steinem respectfully addresses the Marilyn's life within the context of her era and retrospectively. She also addresses the impact of Marilyn's childhood sexual abuse and family history on her functioning. Marilyn would likely be proud of this intelligent, compassionate, historical and cultural treatment. I place this book in league with biographies by Carl Rollyson, Graham McCann and Fred Lawrence Guiles. Of course, the timeless photographic images by George Barris accompanying the brilliant text are refreshing, delightful and touching. Steinem truly strives to understand Marilyn, celebrate her strengths and re-evaluate her for our times. Marilyn seems "to speak" through Steinem's insights and in Barris' photographs.

A Tear Jerker For Sure!
After thoroughly enjoying the romance novel, All For A Good Cause, by R. Barri Flowers, I thought I would try this romance and I was not disappointed! This is a beautifully done contemporary novel that will certainly leave you in tears of happiness at the end. Great job, Mr. Flowers!

For anyone partial to romance
In For Old Times Sake, author Barri Flowers sets up an interesting scenario that captures our imagination from the onset: suppose you had a chance to meet an ex-fiancé you had not seen for 25 years and who had broken your heart by breaking off the engagement without explanation. And suppose that meeting with your first true love was set to take place on a national TV talk show. Would you go? That's the question for Elaine Monroe Webster, a 45 year women's studies professor and breast cancer survivor, when she gets the call from the show's producer. As she struggles with her decision, she wonders what her ex's expectations are after all this time. And what are hers? Although her 15 year marriage to Glen is less than completely satisfying, she isn't ready to give up on it.. On the other hand, she has never resolved her feelings of rejection nor really understood why Glen called the engagement off. Isn't she entitled to some answers? The reader can't help but wonder how he/she would react in the same situation which is what helps to propel the story along. Well-written with characters we care about, For Old Times Sake deals with destiny, lost love and second chances. It should be recommended reading for anyone partial to romance.

A great love story
And I used to say I don't like love stories! Have to take that one back! This one was something sooo beautiful! Elaine and Glen, young and madly in love and then he suddenly leaves her...what will happen after the reunion after 25 years, is -the love- still there??? The author sure can write about emotions, feelings and love in such a way that it's almost incredible! Read it, you won't regret!

This one will stick with you!
Richard Lowrey was an African American, prize winning photographer. He used his talent of photographing to make books. He was obligated to Callister-Reynolds for making two more books. He was already way past due. However, three years ago he lost control of his car, killing his wife and daughter. Without them, he simply lost the will to take pictures or write.

Janine Henderson was a single mother. Being a senior editor for Callister-Reynolds in New York, her boss sent her to California. Janine was to somehow convince Richard to begin photographing again and fulfill his book contract. If all else failed, she was to get back the huge advance that Richard had been given. Lady Luck smiled upon Janine. On her first day in California, Richard just happened to find her! Without telling who she worked for, Janine tried to help Richard get on with his life ... and hopefully get on with his work. Problem was that Lady Luck had always been fickle. The two became attracted to each other. Now Richard felt as if he was, in a way, cheating on his deceased wife and daughter. And Janine feared that when Richard found out who she worked for he would believe she did not really care for him, but was only using his feelings for her to get the two books completed.

***** R. Barri Flowers has written a story that will easily captivate your heart. The story shows the conflict of both the main characters and how their past makes for overwhelming odds. A beautiful story that will stick with you long after you finish it. Recommended! *****

Unforgettable Love
The Loves of His Life is a beautiful and soulful love story that captures the very heart of the reader with honest and bold sentimentality. R. Barri Flowers, author has created a romantic masterpiece.

Richard Lowery, African American prize-winning photographer is consumed with grief and guilt over the tragic deaths of his wife, Kassandra and daughter, Sheena, who were killed in a car accident in which Richard was the driver. After three years Richard is still unable to cope with his loss and return to work. Richard meets Janine and falls in love with her but he realizes how much she resembles his dead wife. Richard had so many mixed emotions about their relationship. He told Janine about his love for his wife. The intensity to which Richard described his wife characteristics made Janine feel so intimidated. She wondered if she could measure up to his wife. The love Richard and Janine share is suddenly shaken and Richard is forced to deal with his grief. Janine on the other hand has her own guilt of having deceived Richard.

I am not a person who reads romantic novels but this book is one that has changed my mind. I would recommend this book to all romance readers. It is not your usual romance novel.

A Terrific & Humorous Novel!!!
I loved this book! The main character, E.Z. Elias, a private detective is very funny and so realistic it seems as though you know him personally. The book was fun to read and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good detective novel!

A Wonderful P.I. Mystery and Excellent Read!!!
I found Murder In The Rose City to be riveting from the very start and never lets up. The lead character is a Portland, Oregon private investigator named Eric "E.Z." Elias. He is half-black, cool, funny, sexy, and knows how to go after the bad guys. He gets his chance when hired by the Deputy D.A. to track down a drug dealer named "Worm." Along the way, E.Z. is seduced by a beautiful blonde, framed for her apparent murder, and falls head over heels for a Whitney Houston lookalike!

The action, fun, and romance of this hard-boiled urban detective novel makes it a winner big time! See for yourself!

A GREAT READ!
I truly enjoyed reading this book! E.Z. Elias is a humorous detective who gets involved in two different cases that really put him to the test. It was a thoroughly enjoyable book that I was able to read in only a couple of days! Good work, R. Barri Flowers!

Outstanding
Flowers has fulfilled the promise of Damning Evidence by giving the reader a story full of suspense and surprises. The writing style is smooth and readable. The characters are well-drawn, having very human (at times too human) feelings. The dilemnas of Victoria are treated with understanding. The conversations are realistic. This is a fast moving story with enough questions to keep the reader in doubt as to the outcome.

Kept me riveted!
Court Judge Harold Hamilton was shot three times and killed while in bed with his wife. The killer raped the wife, Carolyn, and left her barely alive. When she recovered from her physical injuries, Carolyn identified the Hispanic male attacker from a photo line up and a police line up. She even recalled the dragon tattoo on his genitals. He was Aurelio Estebanoza.

Victoria Kinsey was the D.A. on the case. She had a teenage son named Paul, who was the center of her life. Her (soon-to-be) fiancé was Evan Tanner and he was selected to take the vacant Judge position. Between her case and the slow bonding between Paul and Evan, Victoria found life hectic, but wonderful!

Enter Julio Lopez who was an almost twin copy of Aurelio Estebanoza. He even had the same tattoo in the same spot. His police record was as long as Aurelio's too. And Julio had Victoria targeted as his next victim.

***** Terrific story! Just when I believed I had it figured out, the author tossed in an unexpected twist. I had to leave a few details out of the synopsis to make sure I gave nothing vital away. :) The author, R. Barri Flowers, seems to write with a magical pen that kept me riveted! Highly recommended reading! *****

A Riveting Mystery!
This was a great mystery with lots of twists and turns and plenty of surprises. I kept thinking I knew who the killer was but was wrong! I love that--it makes it a great challenge! I strongly urge everyone to purchase this book--you'll be glad you did.

A GRRRREAT BOOK!
I really liked reading this book! I didn't lose interest in the story all the way to the end. I couldn't wait to find out who the killer was and how and if he'd be caught. The plot was excellent and the characters were well developed. A vivid imagination and good planning would be required to come up with a story like this! The book is not, in my opinion, like many TV shows and movies that have an unimaginative typical plot and ending. Great Book Barri!

An excellent tribute to Custom Car Builders
I have followed the work of George and(the late) Sam Barris since 1953. Their work set a trend for all custom car builders and owners. George has done a great tribute to many car builders by showing these terrific photos of many cars that we all thought were lost. As one reads thru the book, you begin to realize that these rolling sculptures are true works of art, and several of these vehicles have been featured in museums and art shows. One can thank George for having the ability to photograph these (K)custom cars during the 1950s.

Marilyn at her vibrant, beautiful best
George Barris, a very wonderful man and wonderful friend to Marilyn, had collaborated with Marilyn to make this book, which they had discussed for some time prior to her death. So here is Marilyn, at her very best, in one of the best settings for Marilyn to be photographed - the beach. Very early on in her career, many photos were taken of Marilyn at the very same beach by Andre deDienes, and they, too are fabulous photos. Something about Marilyn and the beach bring out the very best in her. She appears at ease, belonging to the ocean as her vibrance shines through. At this point in Marilyn's life, only a few weeks prior to her death, Marilyn appeared very fit, happy, healthy and ready to move on in her career. Sadly, that was not to be. But here with this book, we are shown the true Marilyn, young Norma Jeane still there, posing not only for Barris, but for us. This is a beautiful book with pictures that have quite affectionately been named "The Last Photo Shoot," as it was. And the very last picture of Marilyn, wrapped tightly in her Mexican sweater, blowing us a kiss goodbye is a wonderful reminder of her beauty and sensuality.

Fantastic book!
I think It's a great book with spectacular photos. Every MM fan have to buy it! Ciao

Marilyn-Her Life In Her Own Words:
I found this book to be truly unique in its context. By this I mean, that it not only has photos of Marilyn Monroe taken shortly before her most untimely death, but, her own narrative on life, her career, her former marriages, and her future aspirations. (So taken by her mysterious death, cited by the LA Coroner's Office as probable suicide, that the author dismisses this and cites it to be probable murder!) When the news of her death hit author/photographer, George Barris, went into complete shock, and moved to Paris, France and began a new life. It was only years later and at the insistance of his spouse that he returned to the United States (back to L.A.), and resumed his lost quest to republish Marilyn's photo-bio. Through casual perusal, one can easily see that Mr. Barris has a deep affection and respect for Marilyn. At the end of the book, he explains that there were takes and retakes and that towards the end of a long photo-shooting session, Marilyn promised that the following day she would put-forth her every effort to obtain the very essence of what he wanted for the final closure of the photo session. Monroe as always, the "professional" delivered as "promised", and gave a last personal touch to Barris by "blowing" him a "hauntingly" last kiss!

excellent story
This is a story of surprising results to the various investigations. It is full of twists and turns which have the reader guessing. This book caught my attention from the beginning and held it throughout. It is well-written, fast moving, suspenseful. There are a number of explicit sex episodes. The details of Victoria's murder are gruesome. The scenes portraying the serial killer are particularly blood-curdling. Despite this I would not hesitate to recommend Damning Evidence and I eagerly look forward to his second thriller.

super thriller
don't miss this one...excellent read. a truly interesting & exciting story from start to finish. i enjoyed it very much. happy reading!

Wonderful Book!
This was a great legal thriller. It kept you guessing throughout as to what was going to happen next. This book was hard to book down and is a very quick read. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves legal thrillers and/or mysteries!
