Compelling Drama
This is an excellent book, a very quick read. The authors do an outstanding job of capturing the South Texas Catholic culture as well as the personalities of all of the main characters. This story would make for great non-fiction, but it's completely true, the characters all real. Anyone interested in cattle barons, oil bidness, a little Catholic church history, and the modern day "Old West" should read this compelling work.

Wonderful! Exciting!
This is a wonderful, exciting children's book in the tradition of "Lassie" and "Black Beauty" except that every word is true! My kids loved it. We can't wait for another story from Stephen Gage.

Addictive and Informative
This book for me personally was a real page turner. I wanted a book to help me understand the mind of a serial killer and also to relay to me in more detail the crimes of Ted Bundy. This book did indeed give us an insight to the serial killer's mind and indeed gave us the unanswered questions to those girls Bundy robbed of their lives. I found this book informative without going overboard on statistics and the like...I felt the style of writing and pace of the book had me gripped from the description of the weather in Florida at the beginning of the book and I was not dissapointed from then on in. I felt regret when I finished the book as it had stimulated me intellectually and made me do my own thinking as well as educating me. I came away with a sense of loss and waste not only for the families of the victims but also for the family and friends of Ted Bundy who it seemed were duped with his innocence until the last confession. A brilliant brilliant read!

Michaud & Aynesworth nailed Ted Bundy
My copy of "Living Witness" is just beaten to death from me dragging it around all these years - it is always a great read, with new revelations every time. I've known Hugh Anyesworth for years - when I ran into him and Steve Michaud at a gathering, I asked them to sign my book and they roared at it's condition. Being a real "Bundyphile", I wanted to correct something mentioned in one of the customer reviews. The TV Movie about Bundy, "Deliberate Stranger", was not taken from this book. It was adapted from Richard Larsen's "Deliberate Stranger", a much earlier book now out of print. With the popularity of Hannibal Lectar, et. al., I think it's time we had a real motion picture and this would be a great source - and wouldn't Michael Keaton be perfect as Ted Bundy (see his work in "Pacific Heights"). The most amazing thing about this book, how could Michaud and Aynesworth sit across from this monster and not completely lose it. Amazing!

Superb account
I was a part of the same sorority as the girls Bundy killed in Florida. When this book was originally released in the early 80s, everyone in my sorority read it. At the time, this was the only book that had ever included interviews with Bundy, then on death row and still proclaiming his innocence, but he 'theorized' what the 'real killer might have done.' Of course, no one could have known the details he theorized but the real killer...it was truly creepy. This is the book they made the TV movie on staring Mark Harmon: 'The Perfect Stranger.' It was only after this book and Bundy's subsequent lack of appeals on Death Row, that he began to confess and was eventually executed.

Been there, done that....
For some reason people believe that this book - Ted Bundy: conversations with a killer - was the first time Bundy had discussed his crimes. Keppel has been there, done that already. Riverman- Ted Bundy and I hunt for the Green River Killer, has Ted speaking in the 'third' person about his own crimes as well as the Green River killings. In my opinion Keppel's book is far superior to Michaud and Anysworth.

Conversations has some interesting twists and turns to it, but mainly is nothing more than Bundy playing the games he has always played. Bundy the master manipulator all the way to the end.

If you are interested in Bundy also check out: Stranger Beside Me, Deliberate Stranger, and Only Living Witness.

A criminal to the very end
This was agony to read largely because it never gets beyond Bundy's constant evasion. There are numerous references to "the book" that the interviewers and Bundy were hoping to realize but it is obvious that the book they imagined is not what we now have. For most of the interviews, Bundy insists on upholding the illusion that he is not guilty. In the face of what we know, and in consideration for the victims and their families, this becomes nearly intolerable to read. However, the interviewers themselves employ expert technique which redeems this effort.

Insightful--excellent book!
Conversations is an excellent book in Ted Bundy's own words. I found it compelling, informative, provocative and enlightening. The authors (Aynesworth & Michaud) put hours of work into conducting these interviews, and the result is a book which I believe psychologist, criminologists, and the layman can learn much from. I highly recommend this book...you will learn much, and be provided much to think about.
