LIttle Shy Cats Agree! Jenny! Jenny! Jenny!
Adorable children's book! Cute, quaint illustrations by the author, Esther Averill, are the icing on the cat...erm...cake! This is a story of love and acceptance, as well as of overcoming feelings of jealousy! A perfect book for a young child with siblings!

An excellent book!
The series of books about Jenny and her friends were always my favorites as a child. I remember as a middle school student secretly returning to the younger readers' section of the library just to read my old favorites again. Now that my husband and I will be starting a family of our own, my hope was to purchase these books to share with my children. It saddens me to know that most of them are out of print and close to impossible to obtain. Even the local library no longer has a copy! What a great loss to our future of readers.

A true American Hero
Okay, maybe that is an exaggeration, but Fire Cat was one of the first books I read as a child. I was thrilled when I found a beat-up copy at a garage sale a few years ago, thinking I had the last copy on earth. Then, working in a local bookstore, I saw it was still in print. How cool is that? Very cool, my friends, very cool.

I highly recommend this for your favorite little people. It teaches that everyone has goodness within them, if given a chance.

One of THE classic early reader books
This is the first book I can clearly recall reading on my own (I'm 39). My Dad used to read it to me, and one day I read it to him. I remember him proudly calling my Mom into the room to hear me read it from cover to cover. I recently discovered a copy at the "used books for sale" section of my library, and excitedly rushed home to read it to my five year old. He loves it. This is a conceptually brilliant book for children. This is a great book for several reasons. First, it teaches the virtues of kindness and hard work. Second, it has superbly crafted simple sentence construction, and it's written to facilitate early reading by using word and concept repetition. Third, it has great illustrations and easy-to-read type. It also has three chapters, which was a new concept for my son.

This is one of the all time great early reader books. If there is an early reader in you life, get it for him or her!

A fun children's tale for more than just cat lovers
An interesting collection of stories about a little black cat named Jenny and her adventures. Children will love this story especially if they enjoy cats. Even as an adult you can appreciate this classic with your kids for many years and repeated readings because of the clever personalities of the personified cats.

The Cat Club is a favorite of this teacher
I was a full-time teacher for 25 years. I have been substituting in the elementary schools in two states. The book, Jenny and the Cat Club followed me in my semi-retirement from IL to MI. Children in both states, in first and second grade classrooms enjoy my reading this book, which I have in falling apart paperback.
