Definitive Tribute to an Important American Artist
At last, John Curry has a book in print worthy of his art. Ms. Junker has suceeded in paying a noble yet sadly overdue tribute to this unique and often neglected artist. Curry's paintings capture the emotion and natural force of American scenes in a way that was very much his own. Works like "Tornado over Kansas" and the scene of John Brown in "A Tragic Prelude" embody some of the greatest expressions of conflict to be found in American art.

Humorous and entertaining for ALLl adult audiences
This is a most enjoyable book. The authors no doubt targeted the newly single adult female audience but I am a happily married man of many years found the book to be most entertaining. Their selected quotes are humorous and entertaining. I strongly recommend this book to all adult audiences.

Such a sweet story, combining Santa and Jesus beautifully
The author tells such a sweet story for children who know Santa and have heard of Jesus but who may be confused of how the two mingle at Christmas. The author weaves a sweet tale simplifying that question and showing love of children. The illustrations are excellent. Please list the illustrator's name on the web site.

An excellent mystery and great start to a wonderful series
The cover of one of Sue Henry's books caught my eye and the line "An Alaska Mystery" caught the other. I bought this book immediately and could not put it down. It is very well researched and makes me want to move to Alaska and enter the Iditirod!

I bought the 2nd book the following day and read it in one sitting. I'm dying to keep reading her books. The characters are good and the mysteries are solid.

Sue Henry has a gift and I'm grateful she's sharing it with us. Do not pass up the opportunity to read these books if you like mysteries. Highly recommended!

You'll think you're an Iditarod musher
I snatched it off the shelf the moment I saw "Iditarod." Sure enough, Sue Henry not only gives us a smashing murder mystery to solve, but the history of the Iditarod race itself. Her writing propels you into the story. You will freeze with the racers, feel their exhaustion, worry over the dogs, and oh, yes, wonder just who done it. Her character development makes for such believable people that one can think, "I know this guy/gal." Not at all surprising that she won the Macavity and Anthony awards with her first book. This is definitely a keeper.

Exciting mystery
Sue Henry sets the first book in her Alaskan Mystery Series in one of the most grueling sporting events in the world, the 1000-mile Iditarod dog sled race. The book details the progress of the race and the unusual "accidents" which take place along the way. State trooper Alex Jensen is highly suspicious that some of the mushers may be sabatoging others in an effort to gain an advantage in the race. Henry creates vivid descriptions of the race course and the brutal conditions which beset those brave enough to participate in the Iditarod. She creates enough red herrings to make the mystery interesting and vividly writes about the dangers, both natural and man-made, which the racers encounter. I highly recommend this book!

Blew me Away!
I couldnt put this book down. 2nd in Sue Henry's series set in Alaska. A canoeist finds a journal set 100 years in the past of a journey to find gold. He is set upon by the bad guys and the book takes off from there. Alex Jensen and a Canadian Mountie are called in to investigate and work hand in hand to solve this intricate but fascinating plot.

Sue Henry writes one good mystery with a little romance thrown in to the mix. I read this thru a New England snow storm and enjoyed it immensely.(The book; now the snow storm :))

Great second story in a series
I read "Murder on the Iditirod Trail" on a Saturday and bought this book on Sunday. It is a great historical story of the Alaskan gold rush and is a good mystery.

Sue Henry has a new fan in me and I can't wait to get the rest of her books.

These books are well researched and get you absorbed in them very quickly. Great escapism and highly recommended!

Wonderful book!
Sue Henry's description of the Yukon River and Dawson makes this book interesting as well as exciting. For those who love the outdoors and adventure, this book is a must read. The details on the gold rush days mixed with a modern-day wilderness setting make this mystery a delight.

An exciting who-done-it that captures the magic of Alaska
Alaska state trooper Sergeant Alex Jensen and his girlfriend Iditarod veteran Jessie Arnold are excited as they join the centennial celebration of the famous Klondike gold rush. On board the cruise ship is many famous people and a million dollars worth of gold. This is expected to be the gala event of the season and Alex plans to relish the event by wearing full dress attire at the party.

Everything changes when rooms are broken into and valuables stolen. Things get even nastier when someone tries to murder a celebration official. They turn downright ugly when a crew member is found dead. Alex and Jessie begins to investigate the incidents in which there are many suspects, including someone(s) who prefer to remain anonymous.

No one does Alaska (historical and present) better than Sue Henry does and her fourth Alex Jensen mystery enhances her reputation for brilliantly scribing the final frontier. Though the dialogue occasionally seems artificial, the lead characters remain refreshingly huggable and the story line is fast paced and extremely interesting. Readers will want to book a ticket on the cruise ship, DEATH TAKES PASSAGE. The audience will know that they have gotten their money's worth.

Shipboard mystery
The Spirit of '98, a small cruise ship, sets sail up the Inside Passage of Alaska to commemorate the Gold Rush of 1898. Alex Jensen and his girlfriend Jessie Arnold are aboard as official representatives of the State of Alaska. Alex is looking forward to a leisurely cruise, but his police skills are called into play when some valuable items are stolen from several staterooms. Soon the problems compound when a dead body is found in the water and one of the crewmembers disappears. In the meantime, 2 men have stolen a sailboat and later a powerboat to commit a crime which is unknown to them. Eventually the two story lines merge and the entire ship is threatened by a diabolical plot. Alex untangles the mystery and sets out to save the ship from imminent danger. Sue Henry can always be counted on for wonderful descriptions of Alaska interwoven with an intriguing mystery.

Adept shipboard mystery in beautiful scenery
Fundamentally, this is a good "locked room" sort of mystery. On a ship with less than 200 people (and 15 tons of gold) there's only so many places to look for a murder. Still, Alex and Jessie have quite a search on their hands as sub-plots emerge. Periodic, anonymous conversations by the bad guys only add to the suspense. The final 20% of the book has lots of action (and remarkably little blood).

The use of the scenery is both a strong and weak point in the book. This series is a favorite because I enjoy the armchair traveling experience of going to Alaska in the books. Maybe it was having to listen to every word on tape, but the traveloge was a bit too much in this book.

Finally, make sure to read the author's notes. This book is based on a real ship and a real anniversary sailing. Lots of real people are used as characters which is fun.
