Serious Catholic Study
Our Parish has used Mr. Ray's guide for two trips through the Gospel according to St. John. It is an incredible resource for groups who have serious interest in Bible Study. (I would expect nothing less of an author than a 5-star rating for his work! This piece happens to actually deserve it.)

Authors Should Not review Their Own Books!

Why this Book is Unique
[In response to Joe below: I provided the material on the back of the book for those who want to know what the book was about in more detail. I am not allowed to provide info on my book without rating it; I tried. Should I rate my own book less than a five star? Come on!]

The first extensive, easy to use and thoroughly Catholic Bible Study guide.

As Catholics in ever-growing numbers are taking part in Bible studies, many questions arise. How do I study the Bible? Where do I begin? Is it OK to interpret the Bible for ourselves? What Bible should I use? How can I understand such a deep book as the Gospel of St, John?

This book has the answer to these and many other such questions. Stephen Ray takes the difficult and makes it easy; he takes the confusion and makes things clear. It gives a simple start for a beginner while providing the depth and profundity for the scholar. This book is one of a kind. It is the first extensive, easy to use and thoroughly Catholic study guide available.

This Bible study provides extensive "text boxes" with detailed information that helps students discover the cultural, religious, historical and other information on the specific passage they are studying. It utilizes quotes for a wide range of scholars, historians and specialists to instruct the student and give valuable insights into the background and meaning of the text. This book can serve as a basic Bible study guide for working through the Gospel of John, helping the student plumb the depths of St. John's marvelous and deeply spiritual Gospel. It is excellent for use by individuals or groups, for families or schools.

Special Highlights

The first extensive, easy-to-use Catholic Bible study guide available written in a way that is usable by both the beginner and the scholar Coincides very well with the Catechism of the Catholic Church Provides extensive "text-boxes" with detailed information on specific Bible passages being studied.

Tears and Gratitude
My daughter bought this book to thank her Dad and me for everything we have ever done for her. I read it and cried, as we had just lost our son to a battle with brain cancer, and this book reminded me of him as he touched so many lives esp. in how he accepted his illness and in his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. But it also reminded us of our other three children, as they, too, have touched many lives in their own way ----so we bought each of them this book to thank them for what they are. This book is for all the people who quietly do the kind things in life that few people know about, yet who influence people just by the goodness that shines through them. It is a heart warming reminder to all of us that everything we do does matter.

Touching...
This song is so beautiful! It touches your heart and soul with so much Love and appreciation...I dedicate this song to my girlfriend Michele who led me to the Lord. It is a song that will bring tears to your eyes whenever you hear it, if you have Jesus in your heart and know He is the only way to Heaven! :)Like the song says...Thank you for giving to the Lord...Mine is the life that was changed! :) May you all experience God's life changing power. Amen!

Straight from the Heart
I bought this for my son's birthday as I remember the day he had done a play at our church with this song. Their was not a dry eye when everyone listen to this song. It made me think he was thanking everyone around him as well as myself for his life was changed. An upbeat song teenagers will love as well as anyone else!

Colourful ode to Warner Brothers animation
This is an excellent and richly illustrated book on animation at Warner Brothers. It contains a lot of background information on e.g. Carl Stalling's music, the styles of the different directors, inside jokes, war cartoons, forgotten cartoon characters and so on. The joy of reading this book is only surpassed by watching the Warner Brothers cartoons themselves.

Very good survey historical and technical survey
While writing an article for the Talaria Enterprises Museum Store's new release of Looney Tunes sculptures, I turned to this very informative book. It discusses the history and impact of the Looney Tunes characters from historical, technical, and theoretical perspectives. Very Good Sourcebook!

A great resource for WB cartoon buffs.

First, I have to confess that I am a card-carrying adult who still watches cartoons every Saturday morning. As an adult, however, I'm now interested it the history of the cartoons I watch. (It makes me feel more...sophisticated about my cartoon viewing.)

"That's All Folks" has incredible full-color pictures, chronicals the history of WB cartoons, provides specific information about the most popular characters and cartoons, AND includes a filmography of WB cartoon releases. If you like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and the rest of the gang, you should have this book.

Blood Thirst: 100 Years of Vampire Fiction

A must for horror/vampire fans
This novel brings together works of so many amazing talented writers: Stephen King, Richard Matheson, Anne Rice, Tanith Lee, Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, Algernon Blackwood, Joyce Carol Oates...just to name a few! Be on the lookout for "Count Dracula" by Woody Allen; whether you love him or hate him, this short story is a hoot!

This one lets you sink your teeth into some quick, sometimes chilling, sometimes humorous, sometimes just plain weird vampire stories. It will also introduce you to some incredible authors, and I bet you'll race to buy more of their works. Wolf breaks down this collection into categories: The Classic Adventure Tale; The Psychological Vampire; The Science Fiction Vampire; The Non-Human Vampire; The Comic Vampire; and The Heroic Vampire. Horror and vampire fans will recognize some of these stories (King's is an excerpt of SALEM'S LOT) from other novels or collections. But this one is a tasty treat (yes, all puns intended) that I found delightful!

Excellent Collection of Stories
I great collection of modern vampire stories. Several of the stories are actually chapters from longer novels, which only entices the reader to read those novels too. Wonderful read, but with the lights on!

Forum magazine (UK) is spot on...
I bought one of the first copies of this book and it was definitely one of the most unusual books of erotica I've ever seen. I couldn't stop reading it. This month I found that it had been reviewed by Forum and they actually agreed with me! A book "you can pass around to your friends without a flush of embarrassment" and a book "you can't put down!" I can't wait to see more from this pair!

An author's praise...
Whispers. Whispers in the dark. Secret longings. Hushed giggles as the hinges on the closet slowly creak open. Beyond the door, in the darkness, carefully hidden, is the passage to a place more magical yet every bit as innocent as Narnia. When lovers pass through its portal what is fantasy becomes reality and what is reality becomes fantasy. It is the place of our hidden desires, a place where lovers' erotic passions are safeguarded and shared in the deepest moments of intimacy, away from prying eyes, and ears.Erotic passions are food for the erotic soul and best served dripping hot to your lover. Some dishes may be too spicy while others a bit bland, but here you will find a smorgasbord to satisfy any appetite. The Wedding is subtle, veiled, and mysterious like many Victorian stories. White Linen is naughty yet with an ironic twist of humour. Rue du 8 Mai 1945 is a romantic tale of fantasy fulfilled. Finally, Black Leather and Silver Chains is so extreme and shocking you may need more than a cold drink to tame the flames. All-in-all, twenty-five stories from two lovers are brought together for you to savour and share.

Wonderful Faith Lessons
The participant's guide is designed to be used in tandem with the video;however, it is so comprehensive that you learn a great deal of background just from going through the lessons. It was one of the best workbooks I have ever used to gain a perspective on what life was like in Jesus's time and how actual archeological findings link the truth Jesus portrayed 2,000 years ago and how we can apply this today. Read it and increase your faith. Give it to others.

A Reference Standard
Intended to be a compendium of handouts for physicians to give to patients, Griffith's Instructions provides information on a wide variety of illnesses. From croup to tooth grinding, this book covers maladies both small, i.e. indigestion, and large, i.e. congestive heart failure, in a consistent, matter-of fact presentation. All of the perforated, pull out discussions include basic descriptions of the illness, including the frequent signs and symptoms, a brief synopsis of possible causes, risks, preventative measures, expected outcomes, and possible complications. Treatments are also discussed through both general measures and medications with notes on recommended activity and diet. The 6th edition revises and updates all of the problems that patients regularly bring to their doctors discussed in the 5th edition and adds more than twenty new ones.

Extensive appendices provide diets, including the latest food pyramid guidelines, daily values, nutrition data and specific diet regimes. There are also a plethora of diagrams and instructions for wellness, such as how to perform breast and testicular self-exams. Unlabeled diagrams of the body, ranging from eye to the endocrine system (both male and female) are also provided.

Instructions for your patients in Spanish
I have used previous editions in my practice with great success. I was hoping to get the latest edition with this book. However, to my surprise, the alternative title of this book is "Instrucciones para los Pacientes." Although I received this Spanish Language edition by mistake, I will keep it and put it to good use in my practice.
