I really enjoyed reading the book. I thought it was an interesting book to have read because I learned how life in an island can be hard to adapt to, specially how its hard to get everywhere and hard to get food and but they found a way for everything and it was tough moving from a place where transportation was simple and so was food places and markets. "Now pull yourself together" that's from when Emma is talking to herself cause she is jelous about the new baby that's coming. (pg. 44)
The theme of the book was that their family moved to an island where everything was far away. And how Emma acted toward how she was an adopted child and how her stepparents where about to have a new born baby. I do agree with the theme, its totally about it. Jealousy was a big thing in the book, having to do with Emma and the new born baby.
I thought that this story kind off relates to my life because she lives with her stepparents and I live with my step dad but also my real mom. We have also moved a lot from countries to countries and also visited many other countries and it is hard to settle in and you feel like nothing is around you but things will always find a way. About Emma getting jealousy about the new baby I felt the same way when my real dad got married and had a baby boy, my half brother. I was jealous because I was always the cute little one until he came but then I got over it and realized that I was never really the spotlight, it was always all of us.
I would recommend this book to others because it was very interesting and you get into the book, the author sends the reader message about what is happening .
