Best of all, not only are most of the suggestions at or under $100, even though the book is a bit old ('86), they are things that anyone can do--not major undertakings which require a contractor. There are black and white photos of before and after rooms, which really show how just a little money, spent wisely, can make a huge difference in how your home will look to a potential buyer. Using this book as a guide, any home can show (and sell!) like a model home.
I loaned my copy out once and never got it back. Luckily I was able to purchase a used paperback copy (for $2 more than the original price!!), but there is a reason why it is priced $$$ on ZShops. This book really needs to be in print again--the other books on the market are a waste of money compared to this one.

Sweet, soothing stories for your little reader.
This book, published in 1976, is the third of four books about Frog and Toad, written by Arnold Lobel. This book has five stories, starting and ending with Winter tales.
As usual, Toad is a bit negative and nervous, while Frog is calm, positive and dedicated to being a very good friend to Toad.
In "Down the Hill", Frog gets Toad to come outside and try sledding down a hill with him. Toad goes reluctantly along, and for a moment enjoys the ride. Frog gets bumped off the sled, and Toad still enjoys the adventure until he realizes he's alone. He decides Winter is best spent inside.
The next story is about a story told from Frog to Toad, one rainy day when they are wishing Spring was here. Frog promises that Spring is just around "The Corner."
"Ice Cream" is a funny story about what happens when Toad buys ice cream cones for himself and Frog, and carries them a long way on a very hot day.
"The Surprise" is a story about what happens when two friends try to do something special for a friend, in secret.
The last story, "Christmas Eve", has a worried Toad frantically searching for his best friend, sure that something terrible has happened. It has a happy ending, of course!
The stories are short, sweet and about friendship, but in a simple manner. Drawings of Frog and Toad are on almost every page, and are detailed enough to warrant a lengthy view and some comments from young readers. The words are understandable and readable enough for very young readers, yet they manage to tell a story with an amusing message.

The Birth of Tragedy is a good place to start for knowledge of the early Nietzsche and is an indispensible book for understanding what came later. The Genelogy of Morals is the least aphoristic of Nietzsche's writings and provides an extended treatment of Nietzsche's famous and infamous views on morality, especially Christian morality. Beyond Good and Evil is aphoristic brilliance containing many of Nietzsche's most famous ideas.
The one thing that would make this book perfect is the addition of Kaufmann's translation of the Gay Science.
For those interested in Nietzsche there is no better place to start than this book.
Nietzsche like Plato and unlike most philosophers really knew how to write. His writing is brilliant, original, and his style has no peer. Kaufmann produces English that is without peer in his translation of Nietzsche's works.
Whether you love him or hate him, exposure to Nietzsche can be a life-changing experience.
The translation seemed very good to me, and I've enjoyed Kaufmann's translations before - particularly his book "Goethe's Faust" is one of the best poetic translations I've ever read.

I'm a serious amatuer photographer and had heard a lot about this book. This is not a "how-to" book. I knew that going in. All the photographs have a black background or a white background. They are all approximately square. The author says he does this so we focus on the photos and not the background. After a few pages I got bored of the white and black backgrounds. If you read Shaw's books he'll tell you that black backgrounds in particular are very un-natural looking. In our world with a Sun a black background seldom occurs. Some of the white background shots look like a cheap Photoshop knockout. Although the author claims he uses only a lighted white backdrop to produce the effect. All in all, just not as moving as many have described it. You'd be much, much better off buying Shaw's book "Close-ups in Nature". I ended up sending mine back.
