Deliciously put together!!!
Love where it takes you. Family is as important as the tantilizing flavors of these recipes. A must have for the Southern Cook. Especially liked Aunt Cindy's Sweet Potatoes. YUM!

Great receipe's with a mix of Cajun and Traditional tastes
Charlote brings her personality into this talented collection of receipe's for folks that have a taste for spicy flavors.

I made the Chicken and Sausage gumbo the other day, and WOW! and amazing mix of flavors. Gumbo is not as hard to cook as some people make it out to be.

I can personally attest to her talents of well thought out receipes. Try it out for yourself.

A truly delightful book to read and re-read.
This book has plenty of intrigue and suspense when poison innocently labeled as olive oil goes astray. But it's also a life-affirming romp with an assortment of delightful characters whom you love enough to return to time and again. A celebration of life and of individuality.

Edge-of-your-seat fun
This is one of the best gothic thrillers I've ever read, and I've read hundreds. This is a genre I have been reading for years. I read few other romance novels except for gothic romances, which are more mysteries where the female heroine shows strong qualities while usually in the 1800s or other era where women are supposed to be "helpless."

In "Lemon In the Basket," writer Armstrong keeps up with the genre of having troubles and secrets in the family that bubble over and often cause death of someone in the family. But she adds twists and turns that even surprised me. She has a terrific writing style and knows dialogue in a manner to be commended.

Her switching of point-of-view was easily understood and led the reader into interesting character insights not usually possible even in most third-person works.

This is a highly-recommended book for those who like to be kept on the edge. You simply cannot guess what's going to happen in this book -- even though at times it seems like you know exactly what's going to happen.

An excellent study in human nature and family relationships as well.

Awesome Plot!!
Actually, I saw the movie first and then read the book. Both were awesome! This has to be the first book to deal with the weird baby-sitter urban legend. A great thriller!!

a great entertaining and engaging read!!
I found this book at yard sale a couple of years back and i have read it over again several times--the characters are great--especially the quirky male lead character. it's a great mystery with a hint of romance and i would suggest that anyone in the mood to enjoy an entertaining suspenseful book purchase this!

The gift shop
I've read this book over and over for several years! Now I have children and we enjoy it together- The characters put me in mind of the old "Remington Steele" characters, searching for piggy banks with clues in them and out-stepping the bad guys. Lots of fun and some light romance, too.

A fun classic mystery
This is one of Charlotte Armstrongs best books, both plot and characters are excellent, as an airport gift shop clerk gets caught up in a chase to track down a piggy bank, bought by one of four children, before a nefarious criminal gang does the same. A thriller with just enough romance and comic relief.

A good read!
Like everything of Charlotte Armstrong's that I have read, this book (originally published in 1966) is an engaging, nicely plotted suspense novel. The characters are interesting, the plot makes sense, and the book is fun to read without being demanding. What makes Charlotte Armstrong stand out of the crowd of similar authors is her clear, unsentimental voice.

This novel is not her best (A Dram of Poison and The Gift Shop, to my mind) but it's very nice. Read it & you'll be scouring libraries & second-hand bookstores for more.
