Anyone speek l33t? Yes....
....many certainly do with all the hits this site has. And for good reason. Megatokyo is the most popular doujinshi (online) comic in the land of all gamerz/hak3rz/fr34ks like us. Don't get turned away by all the crazed fanboys out there droowling over it like an episode of Trigun, this comic is good from all points of view.

This volume contains the first 'chapter' of the drama that these beautiful (or beautifully flawed) characters go through (not to mention what Fred and Piro go through). I'm a HUGE fan of MT and all that the guys do to make me happy about 3 times outta the week. When I discovered Megatokyo.com I was, well, hooked like a crazed fan boy drooling over a fansubbed Trigun episode...and I read about 150 or 200 pages in one day....and all the while wishing for more.

Basically, the story is about 2 American teens who get stuck in Japan and have to work together (or against each other, or against 3vil d0minions) to try and find they're way home. With all of Largo's video-game obsessions and all of Piro's romantic throughts over the Shoujo at the local anime store, the two can hardly ever earn any money without blowing it on arcades or renting Rent-A-Zilla's ;)

Where this comic will go in the future, none can tell, and I'm sure the creators are too caught up in pleasing us, the fans, with 3 comics weekly, to know themselves. In the long run, though, I'm sure this series will go down as the biggest American based comic on the net....

For those interested already, for if you're reading this I'm sure you are, please visit [the website] and start from the beginning and get yourself hooked like I did.

So, please, get off Neverwinter Nights, stop looking for your "cool thing" and get your self down to the local m4ng4-st0r3 and check out m3g4tokyo.... you lazy ps2-accessory....

Oh, and...Junpei will return!!!! GAAAAAH!

Like an old friend comming home...
You could not buy it, you could just go to the website. Or you could buy this and have a copy - take it anywhere, fits snuggly in my blazer pocket - doesn't need a dial up or braodband connection, its all in order - you get handy information at the bottom of the pages and a beautiful re-drawn scetch at the back... Now which option sounds nicer to you?

Megatokyo was the first manga i ever read - i'll follow it to the end and so i loved this book. The artwork is as always, beautiful the humour is plentiful and yet the drama and beginning of a plot is enough to satisfy anyone who's ever glanced at one of Freds drawings.

A must for the devoted fan, a worthy buy for the newbie to the genre - all in all it's worth the money (worth the wait and postage if you're abroad) and worth your attention.

BUY IT!

American Shoujo At Its Best
Actually, MegaTokyo's first print volume isn't as into shoujo (comics for girls) as later versions. Instead, we get a funny and charming introduction to Piro and Largo, two hardcore gamers who end up stranded in Japan thanks to their obsession. Engaging and eccentric, our two protagonists lead wild and wacky adventures through the Land of the Rising Sun.

That said, the supporting characters steal the show. Roomies Erika and Kimiko, perky schoolgirl Yuki, polite but peeved Tsubasa and more give Megatokyo a balanced, deep environment that isn't often found in comic art.

Speaking of art, Fred "Piro" Gallagher's pencils are deft and warm, and improve rapidly even within the pages of this volume. Rodney "Largo" Caston's writing is smart and smooth, plotting in sync with Piro for an authentic Japanese feel with American sensibilities.

Good read for the casual reader looking for something different, great for those who really "get it".

Great Book
I thought this was an awesome book explaining Rodney Carroll's life and way to becoming a person who is very successful. I really enjoyed reading this book and I would encourage anybody to buy and read this book!

A Vivid and Inspirational Story with no cliches
Rodney J. Carroll, the author, describes being raised by a neglectful mother in a poverty-stricken area, his pitfalls and prmotions within United Parcel Service, his pilot project which showed UPS the work potential of people on welfare and his experience standing on the podium with the President of the United States.

While reading the book, you feel like you are right with him. For example, he describes the story of his first day of work where he isn't trained and makes significant mistakes. He leaves the rollers in the truck, fails to sort the packages, and comes close to losing his job. He doesn't hesitate to tell the reader about weaknesses- giving you a sense he is a well-rounded real person willing to share of himself.

This book also avoids many of the cliches and unreality of the typical "rags to riches" autobiography. For example, he speaks of two times in his life where he basically gives up and becomes apathetic. At one point in high school, his counselor tells him that he is not smart enough to go to college. He internalizes that message and partially believes it. He flirts with gang activity and drug dealing. He also gets turned down for promotions at United Parcel Service and makes the decision that many people make in that circumstance- to do his job, but not try to do more.

In each of these cases, he gets his ambition back and his life on track. A friend of his tells him about the Basic Educational Opportunty Grant which he uses to get his tuition paid. And, he is promoted at UPS four years later to be a division manager at the Lawnsdale Hub.

We are spared the usual impression of a person who remains totally determined and courageous under all circumstances.

Yet, he also speaks with detail about motivating employees in a union shop where the work is monotonous and the lifting is heavy. He describes the internal politics where he persuades the managers to hire people on welfare.

There are many lessons here- and it's very entertaining. I read it three times.

long after I put the book down, the story remained with me
Awesome - I believe that Rodney, in the course of his remarkable career, has indeed changed our world for the better with his compassion and belief. I also truly believe this book should be a mandatory read in all high schools and colleges. It gives much food for thought, including the responsibility each of us has to help address and solve the welfare problem Corporate America is living today. Most of us know little about the demeaning lives the people on welfare are forced to live, or the almost impossible task of improving their lives and Rodney, through his telling of his own experiences exposes the readers to their plight. I found this book an endless source of inspiration for me as a pacifist and believer in justice and equality for all. Rodney's skillful representation of welfare today reminds me of the unforgettable words of the late Dr. Martin Luther King where he prophetically penned: "We cannot have an enlightened democracy with one great group living in ignorance...... We cannot have a nation orderly and sound with one group so ground down and thwarted that it is almost forced into unsocial attitudes and crime". Like Dr. King, Rodney has forever altered the consciousness of America, like Dr. King, Rodney understands that love of God and love of ourselves are the necessary first steps on the road to freedom.

One of Rodney Carroll's greatest aspects is his commitment to his very own thoughts and thus, speaking his mind. He doesn't necessarily say what America's majority want to hear. That is why he is so phenomenal, so involved. His urgency in helping America's welfare recipients create themselves a better future, oppressed people world-wide; and his logical prioritising of human rights before civil rights, are evidential of his deep complex understanding of human nature.

Rodney's searing story belongs on the small shelf of great autobiographies. The reasons are many: the blistering honesty with which he recounts his transformation from a black kid trying to survive in the ghetto's of America finest into the exemplary, courageous and articulate man he is today. His honest portrayal of his life is a morally uplifting story, but it is also a fun read. This book will make you think, laugh and cry. It is also one of the most entertaining stories I've ever read. I've read it twice and in a few years, another read will be time well spent. All will be enriched by this fascinating book. It's a MUST!!

Rodney you're the BEST. Keep up the good work.

This book is about living - not dying
This book is a compelling and inspiring read for anyone willing to be introspective about the way they live their lives. Rodney Smith writes a very readable book that guides us into appreciating the very profound yet simple concept of being alive. Once we truly face the fact that our lives will come to an end and we will die - then we become free to experience the joy of life.
And he gives us some case studies of people facing imminent death in hospices. In the final days and moments of life many of those people come to recognize what life is really about - and it's not about the stuff they've accumulated, nor about the power and prestige they used to enjoy. It's about the quality of life itself and the love they've shared with people, animals and nature.
He shows us that life is a journey, not a series of destinations. Reading this book has made a profound impact on my life.

Beautiful and powerful
-this book is written with the heart. Every word is necessary and chapter by chapter it all falls into place. Each sentence can be the subject of hours of meditation. Read it and practice it every day.

The philosophy of the dying should be for us all.
Rodney has articulated a way for all of us to live. Through the lives of the dying we gain insight into our own fears. Are we willing to learn these lessons or continue to fear every ending we face?

An outstanding book by a very talented author! I throughly enjoyed it!!!

A Little Rebellion: April 15th Surprise is GREAT reading!
Rod Sexton's book, A Little Rebellion: April 15th Surprise isfabulous, entertaining, and very informed writing. His style is so vivid and thecharacters are so real, you can't help but root for the main character, Karl Mendel! I'm planning to give a copy of A Little Rebellion: April 15th Surprise to many of my friends and family so they can enjoy it too! Thanks Rod Sexton for a great story everyone can hope for!

A Little Rebellion:April 15th Surprise
Being a Texan I found a number of things in this book that I could readily relate to. At first I thought it was extreme toward the redneck or "cedar chopper" take, but as I got into it, I could appreciate that it is very near reality. I found it hard to put down; entertaining; and Rod Sexton has insight I look forward to in his next novel.

Terrific bedside book. Finally a book that deals with the issues that are often overlooked in serious relationships. After reading this great book, you'll learn the skills to keep your love alive and your lover pleased. Now we, like many other couples can begin to experience the passion and depth that is unique to all couples that have committed themselves to each other for life! I think this is a must read for all people in serious relationships, it can really help you truly understand each other.

RODNEY RULES!
I always figured that Dr. Pearson knew his sex. I have read all of his COBOL and Java handouts, but they were nothing compared to this book. Maybe he needs to add a Section 69 to his COBOL manual for class!

Pearson is da man!
I'm not surprised to see such a powerful book written by Dr. Pearson. I've read his COBOL and Advanced Language course packets, and they were terrific, so I am not shocked.

Reflections on Praise and Worship from a Biblical Perspective
Published in Paperback by Rodney A. Teal (23 March, 2000)
Author: Rodney Alan Teal

All of God's People Should Read This Book!
Reflections on Praise and Worship from a Biblical Perspective is a wonderful, bible-based book that contains knowledge beneficial not only to those who serve in the music ministry, but, to God's people in general. We all need to understand what is means to praise God and what it means to worship Him. Minister Teal did a magnificent job of explaining that the two, Praise and Worship, truly are separate yet equally important.

I was especially appreciative of the fact that Minister Teal addressed the popular, although misleading, notion that one must have a certain "feeling" in order to praise and/or worship the Lord.

May the Lord bless the distribution of this book so that it is placed in the hands of more of His people that they may be better equipped to Praise and Worship Him!

Praise and Worship from God's Perspective
Never has there been a greater time than now to help God's people understand what Praise and Worship really means. In a time where entertainment in the church is at an all time high, we often get caught up in the popularity of something without really understanding the meaning behind what we are doing. This book is an excellent tool for educating the saints and the masses on the real meaning of Praise and Worship. Based on sound biblical principals from the Holy Bible, this book is a must have for anyone who wants to learn how to really Praise the Lord and WHY we Praise Him. To God be the Glory!

This book needs to be in your church music library!
If you are looking for a book on praise and worship, this book is for you! The author succeeds in giving details about various dimensions of praise and worship. Definitions and backgrounds are presented as well as a good comparision/contrasting of praise and worship elements.

You will find that the book thoroughly differentiates "Individual" praise & worship from "Corporate" praise & worship, which, in themselves, are key aspects for the implementation of praise & worship into your ministry. Afterwards, you will discover how to effectively lead praise & worship in the corporate setting.

The book is a must buy book. If you love the LORD and want to understand praise & worship as well as understand how to integrate praise & worship into your ministry, buy the book!

Great book for teachers!!
As a student reading this book, I found several different aspects of learning that would be beneficial to teachers and those reinforcing learning skills. The main focus of the book was directed toward having children use their prior knowledge and apply new information to already formed concepts. This idea encourages teachers to develop a student's understanding by first constructing a general knowledge base of the concrete conceptual information and later giving detailed information to reinforce and develop in depth knowledge. This book also touched upon the importance of technology in the classroom today. With where the world is headed, it is very important for children to have a classroom experience that is enriched with computers, internet connections, and introductions to programs such as power point and the like. Technology not only promotes learning, but it can bring the real-world into the classrooms through the use of videos, simulations, videos, and internet assignments. Overall, this is a great book for teachers! It gives several examples of how these ideas are acted out in the classroom and gives specific topic outlines and descriptions for easy reading.

Very much an agenda setting book
As someone reading this outside the US, I found the agenda in the book quite interesting. Unsurprisingly about one third of the text is taking up with issues in mathematics and science teaching - a source of major concern in the industrialised West. Lots of advice on principles and techniques (more limited) are offered to the reader. The book's style is that of a report. Topics are numbered and flagged in bold print for your attention. The subsequent text expands on the issues at hand. A valuable component of the book is the number of case studies it references, and one presumes these have been carefully selected. Overall as a review of 'learning sciecne' I found this a most impressive work. My major quibble with it is that the chapter of Brain and Mind sticks out like a sore thumb, and personally I didn't take it to bring anything to the debate in the rest of the book.

Practice what they preach
The book starts at a place appropriate for someone who never taught before, and presents convincing arguments from the beginning, to the very end. Whenever they introduce important concepts and ideas, they describe studies that really make them come to life. In fact, it would have sounded like a liberal opinion piece had they not provided an extensive bibliography for their findings. Theoretical ideas are weaved into practical advice to create an excellent introduction for an aspiring teacher.
