This book is great!
My wife bought Heaven on Earth after seeing the author on Oprah a while back. I thought i was a stupid book because changing the world can't possibly happen in just minutes a day. Sounded like a quick fix to me.

After I read the book, I changed my mind. Danny has some brilliant ideas that can work. While it's true the world may not change using his ideas, your community will become a better place.

well, mr. seo, I am a convert now. Can't wait to hear more ideas from ya.

Amazing...very practical
I saw Danny on CBS This Morning sharing ideas from his book Heaven on Earth. I ran out that morning and bought it and was pleasently surprised.

Danny's ideas are so simple and easy to do. He tells you where you can, for example, send your cell phones so watchdog groups can use them to call 911. Or where to send sneakers so Nike can recycle them into playground surfacing.

This book is changing my community and my life. This holiday season, I'm buying copies for all of my friends and family. With so many hokey self-improvement books out there, Danny is right: To be a better person, you muse do selfless acts.

Thank you, Danny!

Changed my life!
I couldn't help but see Danny on tv, in magazines and even on my local radio station once. He really touched my life.

I saw Danny lecture @ Amherst a month ago and he truly has a heart of gold. I bought his book and read it all in one night and it REALLY changed my life.

We focus so much on material things and wanting lots of fancy stuff, but we forget that items can't bring happiness. I give so much back now because I get so much in return: true joy and happiness.

Heaven on Earth is a fantastic book. I can't wait to give it to my friends and family this holiday season and for many years to come.

Thank you Danny. You are an angel.

The Octopus: The Secret Government and Death of Danny Casolaro

Damn good read...
...i've read numerous conspiracy books, watched the videos, et. cetera, but i dare say this is one of the better!!! certainly, a must read for any conspiracy bluff! go get 'em, tiger.

One of the better...
...i've read numerous conspiracy books, but this one is certainly one of the better. very well written. ... good read.

The Murder of a Hero
Danny Casolaro was a relatively wealthy individual who decided he wanted to become a writer. He already had a few articles published in various magazines when he first learned about the PROMIS software. Basically, PROMIS is a database program with amazing flexibility and statistical abilities and can also be used to predict future trends, submarine locations, etc. This software was developed by private individuals with some help in funding by the U.S. Department of Justice. However, the government decided to [take] the program instead of paying for it and began to market it as their own. This information is widely known and well-accepted and much documentation of this exists (including a successful lawsuit by the software developers that was later overturned on the flimsiest of grounds through the interference of the powers that be). However, when Casolaro set out to write an article about the robbery of the PROMIS program by the government, potentially to sell it to a computer magazine, the deeper he dug, the more sinister things became.

First of all, he learned that the DOJ had a backdoor added into the program so that the U.S. could access the files of whoever they sold the PROMIS program to, including the governments of Israel and Canada. This led to further revelations and meetings with various informants that further revealed a complex web of deceit leading down some surprising avenues. Casolaro now changed his plans to writing a novel, perhaps even presenting it as fiction in order to avoid scaring off publishers. But before this happened, Casolaro was found dead from what was an obviously staged suicide and many of his notes disappeared.

This very well documented book (that also verifies and is verfied by information published elsewhere) chronicles Casolaro's story, citing many excellent sources, including court records and affidavits. It also attempts to recover and recount some of the information about the conspiracy Casolaro began to call "the Octopus" because of its many, long-reaching tendrils. While it is not always clear Casolaro was on the right track (Casolaro himself often took note of what information seemed manufactured to mislead and discredit him), it is clear he was onto something big given his subsequent murder and its sloppy coverup.

Casolaro might have led a comfortable life as a mediocre writer publishing the occassional article, but because of his sense of justice and the need he felt to uncover the truth, he was ruthlessly murdered. This book is a wonderful epitaph to two courageous men (including co-author Keith who mysteriously died from knee surgery).

Fun just to read and dream!
I am a beginning cabinetmaking student, and this semester my course work covers basic case construction. Because I hope to design a built-in arrangement that will house a small closet, a chest of drawers and a computer desk in what is currently a large closet space in a small room, I will need to know how to do both drawers and doors as part of it. I purchased Building Cabinet Doors & Drawers by Danny Proulx as a resource both for design and for methods of construction. It is a very satisfying book. I've spent several hours just enjoying the planning of my project and estimating the plywood and hardwood requirements for it. I expect to do both my bathroom and kitchen cabinets over the next two years as well, so the book should get a good work-out.

Not bad!
All in all not a bad book. The technique used to make an arched raised panel was different from my own but none the less works. This is definetly a book I'd recommend to anyone wanting to make their own flawless doors. I believe Mr. Proulx mentioned the fact that wood expands and contracts with a solid wood raised door but didn't mention a good gap between rails/stile and raised panel of 1/16" works very well. If using 2 1/4" rail/stiles and the router bit cuts 3/8" groove in the rails and stiles subtract an additional 1/16" for the expantion of the raised panel. Dry fit the door (try not to force it) if the panel is loose use small tacks to secure the panel from moving(mentioned in book)!!
Thanks Danny

Great book for the Drawer & Door beginning woodworker
This is an excellent short book with relevant, well taken photographs of joints, methods, and approaches to building simple, stylish drawers and cabinet doors. The author is realistic in today's economy in that he uses not only solid woods but also particle board and plywood materials in his well written chapters. You'll also appreciate the brief explanation of biscuit joinery for mitered joints and the sections on hinges just to mention a few topics. He presents lots of foolproof techniques for the home craftsperson.

This is an easy read and easy to use in the shop the first few attempts at building your first drawer.

Strongly recommend this work.

another must read of network engineers
Halabi had no doubt raised the bar for the books to come on internet architecture and so far no one has come close with a book like this. Written by the best in the business today.

I picked it up basically for BGP and it covers all the details of BGP with real world applications. Icky topics like Synchronization, IGP-BGP interaction etc are explained with amazing clarity with diagrams and later on in chapter 10-11 you can see the actual IOS config. I learned a lot from Tuning BGP capabilities chapter which also covers route filtering and route-maps.

Apart from BGP, the entire book is full of useful information. If you have a job in which you have to deal with routing protocols, be it design, implementation, testing, administration you ought to read this book, if nothing else, just for the heck of it.

Excellent book for BGP routing architectures
I am the architect of a leading MPLS VPN service which uses BGPv4 with MPLS extensions. I constantly refer back to this book for standard BGP scenarios (it has no MPLS VPN info). I have recommended this book to all our techincal support people and our customers for designing BGP peering networks.

The book is well written, well organized and easy to follow. It has great breath of BGP applications. It is a tremendous help for those designing AS peering networks.

It gives a brief overview of internet routing then dives into BGP. After the BGP protocol description, the next part of the book has applications geared around scenarios/case studies. The last part is specific Cisco IOS configurations for the scenarios in the previous part. The scenarios cover, to list a few: load balancing, preference routing (primary/backup), route redistribution, default routes, route summarization, route reflectors and confederations (scaling), damping (stability), policy control (filtering/manipulating routes, attributes and community values).

Note that it is not a BGP specification nor a Cisco IOS reference. A better title would be "BGP Applications".

One of the two BGP bibles
If you are looking for a book describing all the things which need to be taken care of when planning and implementing BGP then you will appreciate this book.
Mr Halabi provides a lot of example set-ups which are, for the people working in the Internet networking industry, very familiar. The examples range from a typical customer who wants BGP connectivity to multi-customer and international backbone configurations.
Aside from the many examples, which serve the text well in getting the material understood, Mr Halabi takes care to describe the fundamentals associated with it as well.
However, this is not a book for the faint at heart. Prior knowledge of IP and routing will be useful in order to appreciate this book.
Of course, this books focuses on the Cisco IOS architecture syntax, but the explanations and details will suit anyone willing to learn in-depth about BGP.
The other bible is [Juniper's] John W. Stewart's book: BGP4 Inter-Domain Routing in the Internet. Also a must-read. Having both books will tell you everything you need.

Even Morrison agrees
Originally a scrappbook compiled by a boy that hung around the Doors office, Jim recommended it become a book. Good idea. A solid, complete book filled with the best photographs with articles, interviews, and Morrison's best quotes scattered throughout, it is a bargain at the retail price.

My review of The Doors: The Complete Lyrics
I absolutely love this book. The introduction and the photographs are worth the price alone. This book has the lyrics to all your favorite Doors songs plus poetry (lyrics) from Jim Morrisons' spoken word album "An American Prayer." It has also got interviews and a behind the scenes look at what went on during some of the recording sessions as well as definitions as to just what Jim meant in some of their songs. The discussion about the meaning of The End is great. This book is a must for Doors fans from the most ardent to the just curious. The book is not one that will be looked at once or twice and put on a shelf. It is a facinating read no matter how many times you read it. The Doors: The Complete Lyrics increased my respect and admiration for the band, and Jim in particular, 1000 fold.

An Excellent Coffee Table Book/Conversation Piece for Fans
I'm somewhat of a new Doors fan, particularly of Jim Morrison. The hair and the pout drew me in first, then the music followed. When I found this book, I knew I had to own it. I was not at all disappointed. Sugerman has done a fantastic job of compiling the hundereds of pictures and newspaper/magazine articles from over the years into this informative collection. The progression over the years of Morrison's rise to fame and eventual downfall into drugs and self-desctruction is adeptly demonstrated. A must-have for any Doors fan.

It'll Make You Laugh, It'll Make You Cry
Although it's not a literary masterpiece, RANDOM ACTS OF BADNESS is an enjoyable read. It's too bad that this book cannot be required reading for all young people, especially those who may consider venturing into drug experimentation. It is truly amazing that Danny Bonaduce is alive today! He tells his story without making any excuses nor blaming others. After reading this, I respect the guy and admire his strength and more-recent altruism. If nothing else, you'll believe in fate; Danny's marriage is a prime example.

One of the most entertaining books to date.
I'm not going to lie, I don't read very often (for pleasure.) When I saw that Danny Bonaduce had come out with a "Tell All" book I had to read it. It was laugh out loud funny! I love this guy! It is an over 400 pages long of just plain DANNY being himself! If you think you heard it all about him, you probly have. It is just more entertaining hearing it from himself. This also a story of a changed man who got married and grew the hell up.

I even found out by reading chapter 33. "Detroit: Oh, Yea! I was there for a While," that he lived a mile from my house where I lived all my life. He talks about living in Bloomfield Hills. I didn't know this when I bumped into him in Los Angeles a few months prior. I would have said "Hey neighbor!" No, but if I do bump into him again, it will be tempting. I found out that Danny bad mouthed Detroit whenever he got the chance on his radio show. I just want to say I fully agree with you Danny, I hate this fricken city too. The only good thing is Eminem and the auto industry. Oh, and lets not forget your radio show when it were broadcast here.

Keep doing what you do. Everyone who read this book (look at the great comments) appreciates you. You make "The Other Half" a great series. It is worth it to get up at 11:00AM, when I don't have to just to watch it.

A Partridge in a Hit Book
Danny's done it again. Actor, disc jockey TV host and now author.
Random Acts of Badness is not just another troubled child star bio. It's a funny, outrageous and touching book about survival told as only Danny could tell it. You may have heard some of these stories before...Danny's never been shy about sharing his life...but don't let that keep you from this truly enjoyable read.

Skip Barbers Drive Faster
I race in AutoX and roadracing, and recently became an instructor in a racing license course. I bought and read several books about the subject of auto racing. The 'Drive Faster' book is absolutely excellent and definitely the most thorough read available on how to drive a racecar. It has the background, the theoretic part, the science part, the diagrams and is full of useful and detailed pictures. It's nicely laid out and written in a no-nonsense language. Every chapter is finished with a good conclusions part. As a bonus, there are separate pieces of useful and funny 'war story' experiences of several successful drivers, related to the subject of the chapter.

Drive Faster covers the subject of race driving from the ground up. I would say it's a big mistake not to buy this book if you race cars. I've gone back to read and re-read chapters in this book and everytime I start to think and find something to apply on the track. Best and funniest result was finding 0.5 sec in an AutoX by saying loud to myself "feeding, feeding" like Danny Sullivan suggests in one of his war stories... Best money/performance spent on the car so far. If this sounds like a commercial, so be it. The bottom line is that, unless you're Michael Schumacher, it makes an enourmous amount of sense to spend $100 on a couple on books to unlock driver performance rather than buying that nice anodized alloy performance item to gain laptime... Top marks!

The Perfection of a Genre
The term Ruthian, in honor of Babe Ruth, is a metaphor frequently used in sports to describe an accomplishment that doesn't merely break a record but so far exceeds anything that occurred previously that it deserves this ultimate superlative. On the subject of learning how to drive a race car, Carl Lopez' book, "Going Faster" is Ruthian. A road-racing fan for many years, I had always wanted to take up amateur, SCCA racing but had difficulty developing a budget for it. Now that I can afford it, I wanted to find a way to make up for lost time in learning driving techniques. Although a lot of progressive, in-car experience is a necessity, Going Faster prepares you for learning by its incredible detail and brilliant illustrations, presented in down to earth fashion, used to describe virtually every aspect of the interaction of vehicle dynamics, race course variation, and proper driver reaction. If you have a library of other books on the subject, donate them to a thrift store and buy this book. Even if you never race, reading a book that covers a subject brilliantly is a pleasure.

Everything under 1 roof
I read "Going Faster" from cover to cover before participating in a 3 day Skip Barber Racing School program at Laguna Seca Raceway (Monterey, CA). This book is not only one of the most informative accounts on the techniques of both fast driving and competition racing, but is an enjoyable read as well. The content has it all, from basic car control, to much more complex technical information regarding car setup, and physics of a race car. I found this book to be both informative AND inspiring, which speaks volumes in itself. Regardless of whether you are an armchair racer, gamer, autocrosser, club racer, or pro, this book offers something for everyone. I have also read many of the other standards on auto racing (Bob Bondurant's guide to high performance racing, and Carrol Smith's "Drive to Win"), and "Going Faster" offers the best of both worlds. If I had to choose one "Bible of Racing," this would most certainly be it! Worth Every Penny!

Best Delphi book I have seen!
Delphi Component Design, is by far the best Delphi book, I have seen. I have all of the Borland Press Books, as well as several(10+) other Delphi books. All of these books have there strong points but nothing compares to this Book! It covers RTTI, and Code Optimization better than any other book. One to remember
"A Stone for Dany Fisher" was the first Non-kid book I ever read. My father gave it to me when I was 16. That was 22 years ago and I just found the book. I can't wait to read it again! It has a plot to keep you interested and far from bored. It's spicy and bold, but told of important life lessons. It is defenitely one to read.

PLEASE SELL ME YOUR COPY!
I have raved, and raved about this book, and found that I want to read it yet once again. The problem is, it's out of print. Would someone out there be willing to sell me your copy? If so please contact me at: drbilllambert@uswest.net in Phx. Az. Thanks so much..:-)

my all time favorite book
It is strange when I say this because I read alot. I read classics like war and peace, les miserables, moby dick and such but when friends ask me what is my favorite i tell them A stone for Danny Fisher.
First of all harold robbins wrote trash novels. his first 3 were classics.Comprared to what he wrote later on. When he died the new york times said in his obiturary that A stone for Danny Fisher deserves a paragraph in this mans life in literary history.
As a kid i related to the charaters and i felt for them i never did that when i read as a kid. i even tear up when i read the epilouge because he hits it dead on . for i am a man of ordinary hopes and ordinary dreams, i too cursed at the umpire for a bad call , im the guy on the boat with george washington, im the guy smoking the ciggarette at the subway platform. no songs will be written about me.
That is what life is all about in my view and he harold robbins nailed it.
i even buy this book used to send to friends so they could read it.
well whoever reads it enjoy.
