Electrifying
You know you've read a GREAT book when almost 7 years later, you remember the whole thing and where you were when you read it.
Green days is the book, not just for Caribbean born folks ( I am one!) but for any one who have love and lost and loved again. It desires to be bought.

A MUST READ!
The characters were very universal. Even though I am a trinidadian woman and can relate to the story better than most, it is still a book that every one should read. The main character was the type of young man that you just wanted something good to happen for him. He possessed alot of the characteristics of human nature. He wants a young woman, then he doesn't want her then he does again, then you're not sure what he wants. Life is like that. This story is the perfect theme of innocence to experience.

The best Book I have ever read!
I just love Green Days By The River. All my friends at school love the book also we read it in Literature class. and in our end of year we get a Test on this Book and others. I love the book I am only just so sorry that shell could not have married Joan.In english Class I got an assignment to write on wheter Mr.Gidharee was trying to lure Shell into a trap. What do you think if you figure something please e-mail me at nhs@cwjamaica.com please! It is to be brought in tommorrow morning. And tell me your reviews also.

Wonderful Reference Tool
This book is a great reference book to get the basic idea of an important person, place, or philosophy. It really is a book of global culture. It has many important western references as well as non-western or non eurocentric references. I like to just open the book for a few minutes whenever I am sitting near the bookshelf and learn something new. Each entry is about a half a page on average. Some are less some are more. There is really so much to learn about the world that our western education dosn't teach us. For example you can get a consice description of the French Revolution, or learn about Kuukai (774-835), a Japanese religious leader, or read about Macumba, an Afro-Brazilian religion. It's all here.

For those of us that didn't pay attention in History Class
This is my first time recommending a book and I couldn't have chose a better reference tool! As an American living in Europe, having never been intrigued by history, I often refer to this book during or after discussions as a fact checker. Highly recommended!

informative, rewarding, educational, historical accounts
I read this book this summer and the insight I gained cannot be paralleled. This book gives detailed accounts of people, places, and events of major influence in our time and in history. No one should be allowed to call himself/herself "educated" until she/he has read this book. What a wonderful resource!

The best children's book!
This is a very, very good book for children. I just startedreading it this morning (Have not yet finished.), but already it issooooo good! I love this book and think you will too!

An intersting book for kids under 11
It's summer in Oakdale and Sam, David, Joe, and of course, Wishbone are all talking about their plans for the summer. Sam's dad gets a call from his friend -Tom- at his new pizza place. It turns out that Tom just bought an old summer camp and wanted to know if Sam's dad knew anyone who could be a counselor there because he was three short. Next thing ya know Joe, David, and Sam are in the car on their way to camp Ka Nowato. They step out of the and onto what seem like the deserted grounds of Camp Ka Nowato. Around the corner a boy and a girl walk around the corner. Their names are Rebbeca and Jeremy. Soon after two blue school buses drive into the parking lot. Tom is driving one of these buses. When Wishbone is invited to stay at Camp Ka Nowato. He gladly excepts and is deemed camp guard dog. His job is not an easy one and it doesn't get any easier when some spooky things start happening at Camp Ka Nowato. Is it really the ghost of Ka Nowato, the guardian of the Chitowa sacred burial ground or is it just some pranksters? find out when you read this great, lightly spooky, quite mysterious, interestin and absorbing book.

I enjoyed this can't put down Wishbone Super mystery book.
The Ghost of Camp Ka Nowato

The story takes place in early summer, mostly at Camp Ka Nowato, in the woods near a lake. Joe, Sam and David (from the Wishbone T.V. series) are counsellors at the camp. Someone starts playing pranks and it's up to them and Wishbone, the guard dog, to find out who is playing the pranks. I enjoyed reading the book. I was curious to see what would happen next. I recommend it for kids who like to read chapter books. This Super Mystery has longer chapters than the Wishbone Mysteries Books, but it is no harder to read.

Gun Laws of America: Every Federal Gun Law on the Books: With Plain English Summaries (3rd Edition)

Gun Owner's Common Sense
As a state certified Concealed Handgun Instructor in Texas, I am most indebted to Mr. Korwin and his research staff for the very thorough presentation of Texas and U.S. Federal legislation. Not only are the statutes presented in an orderly manner, there are ancillary laws that are thoroughly discussed -- both are presented in legalese and in layman's terms so that the unannoited may understand fully what is being laid out in the law.

I require that all my clients purchase his Texas Law book when they sign up for my course. It has proven to be immeasurably necessary to gaining a more complete understanding between what the written law states and what the courts choose to interpret from that law.

Mr. Korwin's book on Gun Laws of America will help you keep out of harms way from laws in states that do not have certification courses such as those available in Texas. Be very aware of Federal legislations that can destroy your freedom if you do not know of them. My best to all of you that wish to protect yourself and at the same time do not want to become an unwitting criminal in doing so. These books by Mr. Korwin, and those he recommends, are a must for gun owners across America. Add them to your personal library and knowledge base if you wish to become an informed and sanely secure gun owner.

Most comprehensive book on US gun laws ever written
Every federal gun law in America word - for - word, with that unique "gist" that only Korwin can do. A must for any person interested in the subject and an excellent compliment to his position paper

All the federal gun statutes, with plain English translation
Have you ever wondered exactly what the Brady Bill does? Or how the Clinton gun ban law defines "assault weapon"? Answers to these questions, and many, many others can be found in a fine new book Gun Laws of America. Written by Alan Korwin and Michael P. Anthony, Gun Laws of America is a citizens' legal guide to every federal gun control law on the books today. Even gun law experts will be impressed with the breadth and scope of this book, which includes the first federal gun control which is still on the books (a 1894 statute authorizing the forfeiture of firearms used for illegal hunting in Yellowstone National Park). And then there's the first real "gun control" statute within the modern meaning of gun control: a 1927 statute outlawing mail-order handgun sales. The authors do more than just provide the full text of every federal gun control statute. At the beginning of each statute, they also provide a plain-English summary of the statute, so that a non-lawyer can get the gist of it. In addition to the well-known gun control laws, the authors also supply information about the huge variety of less-known laws. For example, did you know that if you use food stamps to buy firearms or ammunition, you will be permanently disqualified from the food stamp program? I had never realized that a legal resident alien who violates any firearm statute (including the most trivial municipal ordinance) can be deported for the violation. Handloaders and other folks who purchase gunpowder will be interested in federal statutes involving explosives. Did you know that the Secretary of the Treasury (who oversees the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) has the authority to enter onto and investigate any site where an explosion has occurred? Persons concerned about local control of the schools will be surprised to find a federal law requiring that public schools expel any student who brings a gun onto school property. And of course there is the heart of the federal gun control laws: sections 921 through 930 of volume 18 of the United States Code. This law came into being as the Gun Control Act of 1968. It outlaws all interstate firearms sales, with a few exceptions. Having been modified by the Firearms Owners Protection Act (1986), the Brady Act (1993), and the Clinton Crime Bill (1994), the federal gun statutes are now quite complex, with cross-references piling up one on the other. Gun Laws takes you through these laws step-by-step, so that you can see precisely what the federal government outlaws, and what it doesn't. You will also find little-known provisions that may be quite important to you. For example, as the result of an NRA amendment to the Brady Act, airlines which ship your firearms in checked baggage have to put the "firearm tag" on the inside of the case, so as not to make the case a target for theft. The other major part of the federal gun control system is the National Firearms Act of 1934, which requires a special tax stamp to possess machine guns, short shotguns, and short rifles, and which also sets up a federal excise tax system for firearms manufacturers. One particularly interesting part of the book traces the rise in the volume of federal gun control laws. Before the Roosevelt Administration, there were hardly any such laws. Since the 1960s, huge numbers of gun laws have been enacted every decade by Congress. Review by Dave Kopel, Independence Institute, http://i2i.org.

A Mighty Visual Message From God Through The Holy Spirit.
My name is Chris and I too beleive in Jesus and also in his death burial and resurrection, there's no doubt that Jesus Christ the king lives, and is on his way for his children, as another review writter stated, The title is what caught my attention and also the front book cover, The Dove and the Light, that the author of this book beleives and has stated to be the Glory of Jesus Christ, is awesome, the Lastdayapostle.com web site is also one of a kind, Its free, and its cotents dive deep into the truths of Jesus Christ and his apostles, the author is for sure chosen and sent of God to the Lost World. He states nothing with out scripture referrence to go to and read, to further prove that whats writen within the pages of In Search of the father the Son and the Holy Spirit is with out a single doubt true. Now at first I had no idea that the book came with a secret pass word that opened the actual footage, filmed by the author by the saint Johns River in Florida, the footage is awesome and if I had just heard about the authors experience and the visitation I would tend to be doubtfull and with certain unbeleif but its all there and God seems to make sure its proven , by certain events that took place during this mighty visitation of Gods own Spirit the Holy Ghost, theres no doubt that this awesome sign in the heavens which was filmed by the author has got to be the most beautiful thing my eyes have ever seen, I truly recomend this book to all and the footage well if you miss out on seeing what our God has come forth and done, then truly you would be in great loss.

The words of Anthony Michael Careccia are a must read!
In my opinion this piece will turn all non beleavers to worship. You will find the truth you've been looking for in these pages. Not only uplifting but makes you feel more than safe in the reckless world we live in. Yes our lord is watching and among us. You will find in these pages the answer you have been in search of....faith.

The most awesome apparicion of the Holy Spirit ever seen.
Well as I have stated ..., this book is one of a kind, the title caught my eye, the reson being that mankind has always been searching for the God of the Hebrews.and truthfully very few have actually found him and have been visited by Him. At first I dint realize what all came with this book, its has its own web site and a secret pass word that unlocked the most awesome video footage I have ever seen in my life. This athor has with out a single doubt acomplished what few could ever acomplish and that is to find God, and be visited by him, the footage is real of that I am certain, the book powerfull and anointed I experienced several felings and one was that I could feel the God of the Hebrews as I was reading this book and also the athor speaks the truth and does not beat around the bush so to speak he backs up everything he has written within the pages of this book with the word of God. I am well pleased, in my decision to purchase this book...

Get all 3 great books for the price of one!
It has been said that 'Jurassic Park' is one of Crichton's best books (if not THE best) and I agree. An absolutely amazing work of original fiction which is written to near perfection. The movie was ripped to shreds by many fans of the novel for having 1-dimensional characters, but you cannot say that about the novel. Crichton breathes life into these people, especially Ian Malcom, easily his greatest creation (and Jeff Goldblum was perfectly cast in the movies I might add).

The idea of resurrecting extinct animals wasn't originated by Crichton, but he is the guy who took the idea and ran with it to the publisher first. I just cannot think of a more compelling idea for a fictional story which bases its original theory on literal facts. The idea of visiting living dinosaurs is facinating beyond words, but Ian Malcom said it best about the process of bringing to life animals that have been dead for millions of years when he said, "You were so interested in discovering whether or not you COULD clone dinosaurs that you never stopped to think if you SHOULD." Quite possibly one of the most entertaining adventure/thrillers ever published.

'The Lost World' in many ways was set up to fail by many even before they read it. How do you top 'Jurassic Park'? Since the total originality of the first book is gone, that takes away a little of the enjoyment, but I believe that Crichton sacrificed nothing with this sequel. Staying true to his original story he wrote a sequel to his book rather than the movie version, making this that much more compelling and entertaining. Never for a minute think that 'The Lost World' isn't as fun in almost every way as the original, because it IS. It is also SO different than the very poor movie that shared the same name. Actually they only shared about 5-10% of the same storyline, enough of a difference to wonder why they didn't come out with a novelized version of the movie. While not his best novel, I found it as exciting as the original and chock full of everything that makes a thriller worthwhile to read in the first place.

I had heard for years that 'The Andromeda Strain' was Crichtons best novel...and this is one area where I disagree. Although being a fun and very good book, it is easy to see how far he has come as an author when you read it. It is very possible that this book inspired a rash of movies which imitated the main plotline of a disease or alien being brought back to earth unknowingly, but one of Crichtons best novels? I don't think so. Still it IS a must read for every fan.

Jurassic Park
Jurassic Park is an outstanding book. This is the second time I have read it and it got better. It is interesting becuase companies will probably be able to clone dinosuars like that soon. The book really kept me interested, it really didn't have a low spot. The book kinda tests your ability to understand fiction. At times you have to use a lot of imagination, but even with that it is a real good book.

Absolutely great!
All three of these books are absolute winners, and being able to read them without lifting a finger is a plus on its own! Full of action and adventure, all thee titles are sure to keep you o the edge of your seat. You'll never want to stop listening!

Barchester Towers

Average review score:

Immortal Trollope
Despite the criticisms levelled at Trollope for his "authorial intrusions" (see Henry James for example) this novel is always a pleasure to read. The characters take precedence over the plot, as in any Trollopian fiction and this is what makes a novel like BARCHESTER more palatable to the modern reader, as compared to any of Dickens's. Some readers may find the ecclesiastical terms confusing at first but with a little help (see the Penguin introduction for example), all becomes clear. What is important, however, is the interaction between the all-too-human characters and in this novel there are plenty of situations to keep you, the reader, amused.

Do yourself a favour and take a trip back into Nineteenth century where technology is just a blink in everyone's eye. What you will discover, however, is that human beings have not really changed, just the conventions have.

The great Victorian comic novel?
"Barchester Towers" has proven to be the most popular novel Anthony Trollope ever wrote-despite the fact that most critics would rank higher his later work such as "The Last Chronicle of Barset","He Knew He Was Right" and "The Way We Live Now".While containing much satire those great novels are very powerful and disturbing, and have little of the genial good humor that pervades "Barchester Towers".Indeed after "Barchester Towers",Trollope would never write anything so funny again-as if comedy was something to be eschewed. That is too bad, because the book along with its predecessor "The Warden" are the closest a Victorian novelist ever came to approximating Jane Austen."Barchester Towers" presents many unforgettable characters caught in a storm of religious controversy, political and social power struggles and romantic and sexual imbroglios. All of this done with a light but deft hand that blends realism, idealism and some irresistible comedy. It has one of the greatest endings in all of literature-a long, elaborate party at a country manor(which transpires for about a hundred pages)where all of the plot's threads are inwoven and all of the character's intrigues come to fruition."Barchester Towers" has none of the faults common to Trollope's later works -(such as repetiveness)it is enjoyable from beginning to end.Henry James(one of our best novelists, but not one of our best critics) believed that Trollope peaked with "The Warden"and that the subsequent work showed a falling off as well as proof that Trollope was no more than a second rate Thackeray. For the last fifty years critics have been trying to undo the damage that was done to Trollope's critical reputation."Barchester Towers"proves not only to be a first rate novel but probably the most humorous Victorian novel ever written.

A great volume in a great series of novels
This is the second of the six Barsetshire novels, and the first great novel in that series. THE WARDEN, while pleasant, primarily serves as a prequel to this novel. To be honest, if Trollope had not gone on to write BARCHESTER TOWERS, there would not be any real reason to read THE WARDEN. But because it introduces us to characters and situations that are crucial to BARCHESTER TOWERS, one really ought to have read THE WARDEN before reading this novel.

Trollope presents a dilemma for most readers. On the one hand, he wrote an enormous number of very good novels. On the other hand, he wrote no masterpieces. None of Trollope's books can stand comparison with the best work of Jane Austen, Flaubert, Dickens, George Eliot, Tolstoy, or Dostoevsky. On the other hand, none of those writers wrote anywhere near as many excellent as Trollope did. He may not have been a very great writer, but he was a very good one, and perhaps the most prolific good novelist who ever lived. Conservatively assessing his output, Trollope wrote at least 20 good novels. Trollope may not have been a genius, but he did possess a genius for consistency.

So, what to read? Trollope's wrote two very good series, two other novels that could be considered minor classics, and several other first rate novels. I recommend to friends that they try the Barsetshire novels, and then, if they find themselves hooked, to go on to read the Political series of novels (sometimes called the Palliser novels, which I feel uncomfortable with, since it exaggerates the role of that family in most of the novels). The two "minor classics" are THE WAY WE LIVE NOW and HE KNEW HE WAS RIGHT. The former is a marvelous portrait of Victorian social life, and the latter is perhaps the finest study of human jealousy since Shakespeare's OTHELLO. BARSETSHIRE TOWERS is, therefore, coupled with THE WARDEN, a magnificent place, and perhaps the best place to enter Trollope's world.

There are many, many reasons to read Trollope. He probably is the great spokesperson for the Victorian Mind. Like most Victorians, he is a bit parochial, with no interest in Europe, and very little interest in the rest of the world. Despite THE AMERICAN SENATOR, he has few American's or colonials in his novels, and close to no foreigners of any type. He is politically liberal in a conservative way, and is focussed almost exclusively on the upper middle class and gentry. He writes a good deal about young men and women needing and hoping to marry, but with a far more complex approach than we find in Jane Austen. His characters are often compelling, with very human problems, subject to morally complex situations that we would not find unfamiliar. Trollope is especially good with female characters, and in his sympathy for and liking of very independent, strong females he is somewhat an exception of the Victorian stereotype.

Anyone wanting to read Trollope, and I heartily believe that anyone who loves Dickens, Austen, Eliot, Hardy, and Thackery will want to, could find no better place to start than with reading the first two books in the Barsetshire Chronicles, beginning first with the rather short THE WARDEN and then progressing to this very, very fun and enjoyable novel.

There is another dimension.
"As Chairman of the Bethel Institute, I recommend The Platinum Rule by Dr. Tony Alessandra, my clients all find it to be most useful. However, there is another dimension I'd like to suggest. I have six adult children and each is married. I have given the book to each one as a guide to a happier marriage. Tony has given us a tool to build relationships, understand ourselves, our partners and our children. Our most important and endearing relationships are at home. It seems appropriate to have a book of this magnitude to guide us in our efforts to achieve a happier personal life." Sheila Murrary Bethel, Chairman, Bethel Institute, Author: Making A Difference, 12 Qualities That Make You A Leader

One of the best systems for improving communication
The Platinum rule presents an easy to learn and apply system of personality typing based on an individual's social style and interpersonal interaction. This differs from many other systems of personality typing in that it is based primarily on a person's observable behavior and style, rather than on their deeper inner motivations, functions, attitudes, etc. It's a great tool to use in any relationship, business or personal. I use it often and train my staff in the system. It really works and is extremely effective!

Tony Alessandra's work is a more updated, refined, expanded and user friendly version of the work on social styles by David Merrill. A good companion book with more analytical and theoretical information on this work (for all you Thinker types) is Merrill and Reid's "Personal Styles and Effective Performance".

The Platinum Rule is solid material and a great read!
Over the years there have been many books written to explore human personality, some by academics and some by laymen. This work stands out among them as a superior learning tool written by two academically trained experts who are also actual practitioners of their messages. It is solid material and a downright good read. Dr.s Tony Alessandra and Michael O¹Connor are the leading authorities alive today on the subject of Behavioral Styles. Alessandra is a professional speaker and trainer who has specialized in the application of behavioral science in the business world. As a former college professor he taught sales and marketing for several years. As an individual he has practiced what he preached. Alessandra spent several successful years in sales and sales management positions and now counts among his closest acquaintances the top thought leaders in the worldwide business community. His experience as a professional speaker to over two thousand audiences shows up in the book, it is very entertaining and motivational.Dr. O¹Connor is the brains behind many works on behavioral style, most notably the Performax materials published by Carlson Learning. His scientific mind and technical training make this a well structured and highly accessible work. The book offers readers immediate insight into their own relationships and their personal behavior patterns. Real world examples are peppered throughout and do a great job of keeping the reader engaged. Examples are well balanced among various life situations and industries. Business people will especially enjoy the practical and entertaining nature of the book. The Platinum Rule addresses a basic human truth: the fact that we are all alike in many ways and we are all different in other ways. If we will take the brief time necessary to notice our differences then we will instantly see how to better connect with each other. The book shows how to easily observe the four most common ³styles² of behavior. It goes on to show you exactly how to deal with each style. Readers will instantly know from their own experiences that the suggestions will work. Once you have read this book, solutions become obvious and tension between people disappears. This is one of the most practical and enjoyable books ever written on this topic.Respectfully submitted by:Jim Cathcart, author of The Acorn Principle, Know Yourself-Grow Yourself, and Relationship Selling. Basic Information for the Neophyte
This book is a good start for all new students of Afrocentric Studies. This give a basic overveiw of information that has been researched by master teachers such as Dr.John Clarke, Dr.Ben, Gerald Massey, John G.Jackson, G.M. James, and many others. I would highly recommend this book to the highschool student as well as the freshman of college. I would also recommend this book as a refresher for the advance student of African Studies. This book can be used much like a christain uses a bible concordence.

Great book
From the introduction of this book, you get the idea that Anthony Browder is very influence by the work done by John G. Jackson, John Henrik Clarke, and Yosef ben-Jochannan. These three men have done some of the most profound research and writing on early African history and the Nile Valley contribution to civilization. The writings of these men contain a lot of scholarship, which to many people may be very difficult to read and understand. This is why this book is so important. Anthony took what Jackson, Clarke, and Jochannan wrote about in their books and translated it so that the average person could read and understand.

The theme of this book is centered on early Africa, early Africa's stolen legacy and early Africa's contributions to civilization. It also puts an emphasis on how those early contributions was translated into today's American society. In chapters 1-3, Mr. Browder talks about the people of early African civilization. He tells where they came from, who they were, what they did, and when they existed. He puts a special emphasis on the many accomplishments of the early African people. In chapters 4-7, Mr. Browder talks about the stolen legacy of early African civilization. He shows how other civilization took what the early African contributed and made it its own. He goes to great links to show and prove that what the Europeans claim as theirs was actually African in origin and rightfully belong to the African. In addition, he explains how American society has adopted early African symbols into its government structure. The finally chapters 8-10 are designed to assist the African/African-American mind to cope with the information given in chapters 1-7. The last chapters all have to do with building pride and understanding where we still must go and what we still must be.

The period of this book stretches from about 4000BC into the present. The book is structured as to give a chronological development of early African history and its gives you a progressive pattern of how this history has contributed to civilization.

The first seven chapters of this book are excellent. I have read many books on the subject of early African history and its contribution to civilization. This book is the easiest to read and understand. I believe that my son when he reaches the age of 10 would be able to read and comprehend this book. The only weakness of this book is chapters 8-10. These chapters I feel are an extension of his earlier books The Browder File Vol. II and I. I feel as though these chapters have nothing to do with the basic theme of this book, which is centered on early African history and its contribution to civilization

Overall, I think that this is a very good book for young children or for adults who have an interest in learning about early African history.

Excellent
This book is excellent for learning about Kemetic (Egyptian) origins. Everything that Bro. Browder says in this book is backed up with hard evidence. This book should be required reading for all. It opens your mind up to things that I bet you never knew. Unfortunately, most people will not read this book for different reasons. It is up to those of us who do have this book to spread this important information.
