Awesome!
It's rare for me to find a book I can't put down. I'm very good at skimming to get the gist of a book but I was only a few pages into Great Wings when I realized I didn't want to miss one word. By the time I was less than half way through I ordered 5 more copies for gifts. Great wings is deeply touching and insightful...a book you will want to share with someone you love. Don't miss this one. It will lift your spirits and touch your heart.

A RECOVERY METAPHOR!
I've been around program long enough to recognize what this really is. If you are in a 12 step group you should give this to your sponsor. It will touch his heart.

WHAT A WONDERFUL STORY!
I was enthralled, transformed and left crying. I don't like to write reviews, but this book deserves a lot of attention. Buy two copies and pass them on to friends. It is particulary suited for prayer groups.

An inspirational story about the power of dreams.
This is one of the best children's books that I have read in quite some time. I just could not put it down until I had read all of it. It inspires one to dream and reach for the heavens. "Tia" should be read by all children and their parents.

A great book children and their families can read together.
I am in the first grade and I love Tia. She is brave little mouse with a big big dream. Tia has a very nice family and lot's of friends who help her. I took Tia to school and my teacher read it to my class and everyone loved it too. And my cousins loved it and took it to school too.

Inspirational for Adults & Children
Tia's story is a reminder of what every parent hopes to instill in their child as they face the many challenges of life. Tia's adventure is full of trials and tribulations that ends with the greatest reward of all- the fulfillment of a dream. This is one book that every parent should have on their child's book shelf.

Cataldo Uncorked: All You Really Need to Know About Wine to be "Pretentious" as well as "Obnoxious" and More ... France-Italy
Published in Paperback by The Wine Book, Inc. (November, 2002)
Author: Angelo J. Cataldo
Amazon base price: $14.95

very informative wine book
This wine book has assisted me in selecting the correct wine to accompany my cuisine. Consequently I do not have to rely upon a waiter to select the appropriate wine. Most importantly I am now able to impress my fiance who is a gourmet chef as well as a wine expert.

no embarassing moments
Recently, I was entertaining out of town guests who thought that they were very knowledgable about wine. Fortuantly. I had recently purchased this book. Because the book slips easily into your pocket I was able to excuse myself and retreat to the men's room where I quickly scanned the table of contents for the appropriate chapter, which provided me with the information to sound like a real wine expert by the time I got back to the table. What a lifesaver!!!

An enlightening wine book.
I have visited numerous book stores in an attempt to find a wine book that is easy to read and would provide me with the knowledge that I felt I needed to sound like a wine expert. I found it in Cataldo Uncorked: All You Really Need to Know About Wine to be "Pretentious" as well as "Obnoxious" and More.
I am now equally comfortable when ordering a bottle of wine in a restaurant or purchasing a bottle in a wine store. Also I can now describe the wine in terms that get the attention of people who are wine-savvy.

Super Story
Everyone has dreams. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have your dreams come true? Join Jamie, Angelo and Ben in this wonderfully creative and magical story of a teenager who receives the gift of realizing his dream. It's one of those books you just can't put down!

Everyday Inspiration
Fagan revisits the angst and insecurity of adolescence, yet subtley and powerfully reminds even his oldest readers about the beauty and magic of everyday life. Angelo is wonderfully orchestrated; it plays on the cords of emotion with refreshing characterizations, lyrical prose, and believable dialogue. Jamie Auger is a dynamic protagonist whose voice touches all ages. As an English teacher, I'd strongly recommend Angelo to adults and teens alike.

Moving...
Perfect book for a long weekend. Fagan tells a great story and makes you believe the unbelievable. Can't wait for the next one...

Flip's Fantastic Journal
Meet Flip. Mrs. Flea Collar, Flips teacher, recommends that he writes in his journal everyday. But Flip remembers his teacher saying he can write fiction or non-fiction. So Flip and his sisters markers are going wild. Flips make believe day is full of fun and excitement. This will make writing one of your hobbies. The exciting part is I have the book myself and I got the book signed by the author.

my kids loved the story!!!!!!!!!!
This book is great for kids that are introduced to journaling in school. what a wonderfully creative story! Children realize they can have fun with the written word. My daughter struggled with written assignments from school. This book gave her a great message that writing is fun and that every day events can turn exciting. I recommend this for any 1st grader.

The "I don't know what to write about" journal.
Many reluctant writers realize that they really do have things to write in their journals after they read Flip's Fantastic Journal and Flip discovers that he can use his imagination to create stories.

Flip is a very likeable character with a big problem...his teacher wants him to write in his journal EVERYDAY and he doesn't know what to write. The book's format of going from black and white when Flip could not write to a color format when his ideas begin to flow nicely illustrates how the light comes on once you get ideas.

As a teacher I found students nodding their heads in agreement as I read this story to them. Children really relate to Flip's frustrations. Flip's Fantastic Journal is a great book to use with all children, but especially with students who are reluctant writers.

Odysseus: The International Gay Travel Planner

Odysseus International Gay Travel Planner 16th edition
The new 16th edition of Odysseus International Gay Travel Guide is filled with great vacation ideas for gay travelers in the USA and some 120 countries worldwide. The guide is up-to-date, reliable with accurate descriptions, photo and contact information. It is very easy to make international travel plans with Odysseus. I cannot imagine getting my travel plans right without it.

Book Description
Odysseus is a wonderful guide for gay men who plan to travel abroad. The book lists select accommodations, bars, restaurants, saunas, sex shops, and other businesses and places of interest (including some public cruising areas), and there are handy maps for many major cities (like Amsterdam, Florence, and Sydney) and gay resort areas (like South Beach and Provincetown). Additionally, Odysseus is an excellent source to find "facts in brief" about foreign destinations, including each country's official language, population, unit of currency and exchange rate, telephone codes, and laws and attitudes regarding homosexuality. There are several useful indexes, including a listing of gay travel agents and of local gay publications from around the world. The book features a good amount of advertising for gay hotels and other businesses, and there is a smattering of hunk photos interspersed among the listings. Odysseus Enterprises, the publisher, also operates a worldwide reservations systems and can handle travel arrangements to many of the places in the book.

Odysseus 98/99 review
"...The Odysseus guide is easy to read, maps are simply drawn giving access to the data, and country descriptions are concise and informative. In fact the whole construction of Odysseus is a well packaged and manageable guide book..." Our World Magazine NOV.'98

Inspiration for Student Leaders
A fun collection of stories and anecdotes that any student leader, be it Resident Assistant, Student Ambassador, Orientation Leader, Club President or member, can relate to.

If you are a family member, friend, or mentor of an involved College or University student, this book is a must! Reading it yourself will give you insight into what your student is experiencing, but giving it as a gift can do so much to support and validate your student's leadership experiences.

Keep an eye out for more books in this series! They are sure to be meaningful!

Long on wisdom, short in length!
Inspiration for Student Leaders is a concise, intelligent read, ideal for both students and professional staff who work with student leaders. Stories, poems, quick quotes and other works combine to make this publication live up to its goal of inspiring student leaders. Student Activities professional should give this book to incoming student leaders to help them broaden their perspectives on leadership. Established student leaders whose energy may be waning, can draw encouragement from the passages written by other students. This book should be on the resource shelf in every Student Union in America.

Maybe the most inspirational book EVER for student leaders
This is simply the best book anywhere for campus leaders.

I admit that I'm one of the co-authors. But keep this in mind-- as editor of Student Leader magazine, I don't lend my name and reputation to just any project.

I was, and am, proud to be associated with this uplifting and inpsiriational book. It's written similiar in style to the Chicken Soup series, including lots of heartwarming stories written by campus leaders themselves nationwide.

This book is perfect for leadership retreats, workshops, and seminars. It would be the perfect addition to any leadership classes as well.

If you're the parent, friend, or relative of a student government leader, resident assistant, Greek leader, or other campus leader, this book would be the perfect easy gift!

Made me nostalgic for the towers.
Beautifully done. This book has a unique, high-quality collection of photos of the trade center and a well-written introduction about the architecture of the towers and its meaning, as well as the changing public attitudes toward the towers over the years. Recommended.

A remarkable building remembered
I always had a dream to go up in the world trade center. This dream was violently and ruthlesly shattered on the day of 9/11. Now this book in question, i.e., The World Trade Center Remembered by Sonja Bullaty (Photographer), et al is a fitting tribute to one of the marvels of modern architecture. Highly Recommended.

Healing
I feel these books of stories and photos of the people who experienced this tragedy first hand is important for all of us.
The people who lived through it get to see what the rest of the world saw. A look of what they went through which can help them validate the emotions they are feeling.
The folks that witnessed it from a distance get a closer look of what our fellow americans went through.
All of it is a healing process that we need and looking at it through pictures or written stories of our friends will help us understand our human bond living in this beautiful country.

Going In The Right Direction
Yet another book in colored pencil technique for anyone interested in drawing but its chief attribute is the variety of art styles shown by all the different artists' work. There is still a tendency for only photo realists to work in colored pencil and it is increasingly important that those of us who use this medium see work which pushes the envelope against photo realism rendered in it. A nice companion volume for "Drawing On The Right Side Of the Brain" after you are finished with that book.

The best 'First Book' for colored pencil ... excellent!
I picked this up after going thru all of B. Borgenson's books and the 'Colored Pencil Solution Book'. For a beginner, it is perfect. There are many graduated actual exercises for different skill levels, instead of merely a picture and a section explaining how it was done (God, I hate when authors do that!). After a couple months of sketching, this book and then the 'Colored Pencil Solution Book' would give you enough to allow you to do just about anything. There wouldn't really be anything else to learn, only time taken to perfect the medium.

Highly Recommended!
Angelo's newest book excels in every way possible: instructive, beautiful, and enjoyable to read. Angelo is an excellent teacher. Example: each section has 3 sets of exercises, one for each level of artist (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). All exercises are open-ended and offer as many opportunities for learning as you are willing to pursue. I also have two of her videos ("Realistic Colored Pencil Textures" and "Drawing Your Loved Ones: Pets") which are excellent as well. I'm ordering her older book (Colored Pencil Basics) today!

So You Thought You Couldn't Draw
Published in Paperback by Discover Art (January, 1901)
Authors: Sandra McFall Angelo and Sandra McFall Angelo
Amazon base price: $22.95
Used price: $10.95
Average review score:

The real stuff.
Sandra Angelo has real knowledge and talent for teaching drawing.
I read the book through, and I'm on my 7th exercise drawing.
She knows how to teach the basics, one step at a time.
Drawing is not easy, you will have to work.

Step by step instuctions!
I bought this book and have now completed many of the first drawing exercises. The book starts at the basics with what supplies you need and then shows you how to use them. This book was just what I needed!

She shows you how to use grids, how to shade, how to do line drawings, how to add texture and more. But you start out with baby steps so you aren't overwhelmed and work your way up to the harder stuff. THere are many exercises and techniques to practice, she supplies the paper in the book and a sample to look at too.

The only thing about the book is she does really kind of push buying her supplies from her website, which is fine I guess. Especially if you don't know anything about which brands are quality and which are cheap, which I didn't.

I did actually just purchase some of her companion videos but haven't received them yet and I can't wait to get them.

What it says!!!
What better review can one give than to say this book delivers what it says. The methods are straight forward and simple and they do help those who can't draw a straight line. Most art books are written for a visual-learning person and a person who learned to draw as a kid--this book isn't! Although I often overanalyze things this books actually got me drawing in a painless way. I may not become a professional artist but I now have an enjoyable new skill.
