a great forgotten book
I stumbled on this book in my elementary school library when I was in 4th grade. The book was already out of print at the time, but I loved it.
It was one of the first books that actually caught my attention long enough for me to read it all the way through. Before this book I had regulated myself to the ranks of Sweet Valley Twins books, and the slightly higher quality Baby Sitters Club series. I might go so far as to credit this book as turning me into an avid reader that has resulted in my being an English major today.
This was just such a touching and magical story. I wish they would re-release it so that someday I can share it with my children.

AMAZING MEMORIES
My gosh! I also read this book as a child and it has stayed with me all these years. I am 36, and I've been looking for this book for years. I thought I had the name wrong, I have also thought maybe I dreamt it! I can't believe this book has astounded so many people, yet remains so elusive! Let's all write the Publisher and get this book back in the public again! Our children should be able to get the pleasure we've received from this book. They too would check it out again and again from the library! It feels good to finally find the author and verify the name of this book at least!

My All Time Favorite Book!
My school librarian recommended this book to me when I was in fifth grade, and like others have said, I checked it out over and over again. I just fell in love with it. It was so magical and mysterious and moving. I felt like I was transported every time I read it.
I'd been trying for years to find it so that I could finally have my own copy. I always checked any book store or website I found to see if they had it, but they never did. Then, this Christmas my aunt gave me the best present I've ever received--my very own copy of To Nowhere and Back! She was able to locate it through Amazon.[com.] I was so happy, I literally cried!
I just finished reading it again, and it was just as wonderful as I remembered. It was just as magical, and even better, this time it reminded me of how it felt to be ten years old. The twenty year search was definitely worth it!

Fabri's Insects is "fabrulous!"
This story is told from the point of view of Paul, Henri Fabri's son. Paul relates his boyhood experiences being involved with his father's lifework, the study of insects. This is a true "living" science book that will grab your children's interest. Each chapter focuses on one insect that Fabri and his children studied. The pencil drawings focus on the close family relations of this homeschooling family in the 1800's. The drawings also clearly illustrate the insects. This book may inspire the study of an insect and recording the findings in a nature notebook. I look forward to reading more books in this series.

A Must Read for Fans of Stonehenge and Time Travel
This tale is a must for those of you out there who have always been curious about - and fascinated by - the mystery intimated by the existence of standing stones. Jennifer, an American girl attending school in Scotland, meets up with Robert, a native Scottish boy at the Circle of Arden, a collection of standing stones much like its more famous sibling, Stonehenge. Although they are drawn to this site for very different reasons, the sudden rolling in of a thick mist one grey dawn changes their lives forever. When the mist finally disperses, they find themselves in the future, a world far more "primitive" in some respects than our own, but perhaps more advanced in terms of its values (this you'll have to judge for yourself, but the characters and the issues are well developed and you'll have a lot to think about). The very coastlines have changed and great cities have crumbled to dust. Robert is slightly more prepared for this strange world; he has heard tales in the village of the mists suddenly coming down into the valley, with people mysteriously disappearing every once in a great while. His own mother wandered in among the stones as a small child and was found many hours later, safe, but wrapped in a strange, soft grey cloth. Jennifer is quick-witted and athletic, traits that come in handy when facing the perils of this "brave new world." What must they accomplish there? How are they to return to their own time? The answer to these questions can only be found In the Circle of Time.

This was my favorite book from my childhood
I had to do a report on New Zealand in the 6th grade. So I read this book. It's a fiction story about the Maori ppl of ancient times. And a sad book too. One of the best books I've ever read. Good luck to you anybody who wants to buy it.

"Trading Places" during the Blitz.
It's the early years of WWII, and the Nazi war machine is about to unleash its fury on England. In order to protect their children from harm, thousands of Londoners are sending their children to the country or, if they can afford it, out of England entirely. Two orphan girls meet in a embarkation area. One girl is from an affluent family and is being sent to Canada; the other, who is from a working class background, is being sent to the country. They are both the same age, look similar to each other, and have no parents. The rich girl decides that she doesn't want to go to Canada, and strikes a deal with the poor girl to switch clothes, destinations, and identities for the duration of the war. Of course, neither of them know that the war will last for six years.

The rich girl assumes the life of her poorer counterpart, and discovers a world very different from that of her own upbringing. The war ends, and she is a completly different person than she was six years earlier. Will she ever be able to go back to her former life of privilege and wealth? And, more poignantly, will the girl who has assumed her identity for six years be willing to give back that life to her and return to the working class?

Memorable
I read this book when I was in grade school. That was about 20 years ago, and the story has stayed with me all this time. Two young girls from different backgrounds trade places during WWII, and the wartime adventures are just the beginning. The real lessons in friendship occur when it comes time to switch back to their original lives.

Searching for Shona is a great funfilled book.
My book is called Searching for Shona, and I loved it. I liked it because it was adventurous, and full of excitement. I would recommend this to anyone who likes books that are packed with action and excitement. This book taught me a lesson about friendship. It taught me that friends would actually change places in life to make themselves happy. I hope that you readers out there choose this book as your number 1 book.
