A refreshing look at what Jesus really taught ...
It's not about defining Jesus' laws ... it's about Jesus' laws defining his followers. People who want to know what Jesus' teachings really mean in today's terms could not do better than to latch onto this little guide. Most people have heard of the Beatitudes ... But who remembers exactly what these eight "Spiritual Laws" are ... And how can we relate to their ancient wisdom as seekers in this new millennium?

Popular inspirational author Isabel Anders (Soul Moments; Easter ABCs; Simple Blessings for Sacred Moments), succeeds admirably at both meaning and application in her treatment of these spiritual laws. She also includes many compelling anecdotes that help define the merciful, the peacemaker, the beloved of God ...

Jesus' Spiritual Laws is a sort of Jesus' Little Law Book for our decade. Within its eight highly readable chapters is packed a credible, compelling, and historically anchored view.

A significant, reader-friendly book that penetrates beneath the surface of Jesus' moral instruction, to the heart of the good life, as Christ's intent for those willing to take the way less traveled.

Dr. John M. Eades, author of The 7th Floor Ain't Too High for Angels to Fly and Miracle on Boswell Road, says of Anders' book:

Isabel Anders brings us a special blessing with her insights into the Beatitudes. She leaves us with practical applications instead of vague platitudes, and shows us how to use the Beatitudes in our daily lives as we grow as Christians. A must read for Christians seeking depth and practical, real-life use of Christ's words. -John M. Eades, Ph.D.

The Lord's Prayer expands out into the universe ...
Earth-bound readers, prepare for a journey through time, space, the wisdom of prophets and psalmists that will open your minds to new understanding of Jesus' most important prayer. This book speaks to all who are seeking a correlation between science and Scripture, each supporting the other in extraordinary ways.

I read this book wondering what else could be said on the subject and was pleasantly surprised.

Quote from The Tullahoma, Tenn., News, Sept. 19, 1999
A full-length science-fiction work with a Christian attitude, aimed at young adults aged 11 through 17. ... "Is there more to life--not just in space, but on Earth--than meets the eye? And what of that mysterious power [Meena] is gradually discovering--called love?" ... The book affirms that "Even a child who takes up a prophetic task can save the world."

Delightful, useful, encouraging, uplifting and practical
Ander's book entitled "Simple Blessings" has been wonderfully useful and encouraging both as a daily devotional book and as one that I carry with me to use with church groups, seminars, retreats, and multicultural occassions for giving blessings. It's a must-have for clergy, leaders who are providing spiritual nurturance to groups and individuals, laity of all denominations, and those of us on the 'seeker' path. A superb collectible to keep close by!

From a seeker on the spiritual journey ...
Wisdom for today's weary soul!

I read this during a particulary rough week of illness and stress and found that my spirit was nurtured and my body felt peaceful. Isabel Anders has a knack for reaching deep into the hidden places and filling them with blessings. I recommend this one!

Behind the Stats : Tennessee's Coaching Legends

Flatt is flat
Flatt personifies all that is corrupt and wrong in athletics. The really sad part of this is that he was only a HIGH SCHOOL coach! Carlton Flatt, simply put, is a cartoon character.

Carlton Flatt was good for football
With all of the talk about Carlton Flatt, I felt I needed to read the book. Since reading it, I have a better understanding of Flatt and his program. I was never a fan of his until reading this book. He has definitely been mistaken. By the way, he even admits that he "recruited" players at Brentwood Academy. But then again, what private school doesn't! By the way, the rest of the book was very interesting, also, including the chapter on former Tennessee State track coach, Ed Temple.

A Note From the Author
As an author, I couldn't be happier with the previous notes about Carlton Flatt. I'm from the school of any publicity is good publicity. However, I'm going to step out on a limb and say that not everyone who chimed in has read "Behind the Stats." If you had read the book, you would know that there are eight other coaches included. Pat Summitt, Ed Temple, Rick Byrd and Ken Dugan come to mind immediately as people who personify the word coach.

Yes, there is a chapter on Coach Flatt; a fair chapter on Coach Flatt. Even though I don't necessarily agree with everything that he has done in his career, one thing Flatt did was bring players to the spotlight who might not have been there otherwise. Several of his players went on to earn a scholarship to play in college. Some may have played in college without attending Brentwood Academy, but many might not have gotten that opportunity. Now, if you feel that high school football state titles are more important than a player receiving a chance to go to college, then so be it. Personally, I respect any high school coach who can help his/her student-athletes reach college.

But again, remember there are other great coaches in this book. As it says above, there are a ton of legendary coaches in the state of Tennessee, but these are nine (eight if Flatt's not your favorite) perfect examples.
