favorit of fireman books
This book is great for reading to Toddlers, and self reading elementary school students up to at least 9 years old. Longer than you think it would be, it gives you an example of the daily routine of a fireman. Lots of fun and educational too. The fireman is full of personality due to great writing and wonderful detailed illustrations!

Great, exciting, educatinal read
I agree with the other reviews. My 2 year old will be getting many years enjoyment out of this book. I especially like it because it keeps his rapt interest for much longer than most 'pre-school' aged books, but is simple enough for a toddler. But my absolute favorite part, is the fact that Our Hero, Fireman Frank, has lunch and a nap as part of the book. With an active toddler, you need all the reinforcement you can get for those sticky areas!! :-) Great role model!

Simply The Best
I am an art teacher and the father of a four year old little boy who has fallen in love with this book. Not just because it is about big fire trucks, but because it is a wonderfully illustrated synopsis of an admirable man doing his job well along with a team of firefighters that represent other cultures and genders without making it seem forced (unlike public education). This is one of the finest children's books we have purchased and it is because of the wonderful detail of the illustrations and how they compliment the writing. This book could stand on it's own without the writing (Good Dog Carl) just because of the illustrations, but it is wonderful to see art and text compliment each other so well n children's books. Buy this book now if your boy (or girl) loves trucks, pictures, and a story that weaves the two together in a magical way. You'll see!

educational and fun!
This book was great fun, and educational too. Very nice illustrations on every page, and nice ones too. Book tries to tell what a Pirates life was like, at least the best way you can describe it to an elementary school student. That is the age this book fits best. Has a neat replica of the "pirates Code of Conduct", which really is the warped honor among thieves rules they went by. Examples of real pirate flags. Briefly touches on few famous real pirates too.

If yopu like this one, check the other great book "Cowboys" from this series/publisher. It is even better than this one!

My 6 year old son absolutely loves this book!
The book talks about actual pirates and their adventures. My 6 year old son absolutely loves it.

A Great Pirate Book
I am the mother of two boys ages 3 and 4. They love this book. The story and pictures keep their attention and this is the first book they often ask for. An easy read as a parent. An excellent buy.

Great book for toddlers
My 2 year old immediately loved this book. We take it to the bathroom and he looks at it while I brush his teeth and he practices on the pop up pictures. He shows everyone who comes to the house this book and talks about the pop up animals and how to brush. I highly recommend this book to any parent having problems getting their small kids used to brushing and flossing.

proud of her teeth and smile
This is one of my daughter's favorite books. We started reading the book with her, after we started brushing her teeth. She loves to brush the animals teeth, will use the lion's brush to brush mommy's or daddy's teeth and her own, and proudly shows her own teeth and smile in the mirror on the last page.

It would be great if each child who is starting brushing his/her teeth could have this book for him/herself!

The best brushing motivator ever - encourages imitation!
The age range for this book should be changed to ages 2 and up. My daughter loves to brush like a hippo and floss like a shark. This is the best book on teeth brushing I've ever seen. This is a great book to give as a gift to every toddler you know.

Fun, Even For Adults!
My wife bought this book in 1998 when our daughter was born. Our daughter is now 4 yrs old and STILL loves the book. We now also have a 16 month old who is well underway to making this book her favorite. We read it to her at least 3 times before bedtime. My wife doesn't mind because she gets a kick out of the pop-ups. She's even gone through the book without our kids around. Great book for ALL ages.

Great Bedtime book for Toddlers
My two year old son loves this book. The pop ups are really unique and I think the illustrations are really warming and friendly for toddlers. The book walks my son through all the things children do to get ready for bed and helps to lovingly reinforce the routine. An added bonus is that my son now knows what a Llama is--not many books feature Llamas. The best part is the end which again reinforces that all bedtime routines come to an end and the child helps to put the animals to bed by singing a lullabye. Great book. I would highly recommend it for your child or as a gift for a boy or girl.

The Tiff (Reboot)
This book is based on the episode "The Tiff" from the former TV series "Reboot". This particular episode falls in Mainframe, Bob, Dot, and Enzo's home. Bob thinks Dot is way to organized and plans way too much, Dot thinks Bob shouldn't take so many chances or live life on the edge. When they are trapped in a game cube together, they must put aside their differences and team up together to beat the user... while little Enzo waits on the side lines hoping they can come through. I love this TV series and the books, even now when it has gone off the air. I hope someone will come to their senses soon and put it back on air... soon.

A Winner!
Our 28 month old loves this book! We initially borrowed a copy from her local ECFE class, and we're making tremendous potty progress now. The only problem was we had to give the book back and she was so upset when it was gone I had to get online right away and order a copy.

Easy to turn one page at a time!
My son loves this book, and so do I! It is so good for teaching colors and the rhymes are so cute! The flaps are especially good for teaching how to turn one page at a time.

A fun book
My daughter has been reading this book since about 6 months ... the tabs on the pages make the pages easy to turn for little hands and she loves the bright colourful illustrations. She is now 2 and still loves it and loves counting along with me as I read it over and over (and over and over) again. It's a permanent fixture in our car so there is always something to read on a car trip. A must have for Little People fans!

Spaldeen 101
It's hard to fault a book that includes a spaldeen with it. Yes, a spaldeen--that's the canonically correct term for the pink rubber ball that is supplied with and described by this book. Obviously, the publisher wanted to avoid the sticky situation of the ball's true name, a corruption of the manufacturer's name, Spalding. No self-respecting New York kid would ever call it a pinky ball.

Despite the book's heavy dose of political correctness and Y2K-esque paranoia (basically, it advises kids not to do anything dangerous, which seems to extend to bouncing the ball near a street), this is a great little tome. There's lots of games described for kids to learn, and even a brief history of the ball--the spaldeen is correctly presented as the ultimate evolution of ball technology, which started with ancient Egyptians kid playing with mud they'd roll up into balls.

The Best Moments of My Childhood
Hold this book in your hand and, if you're like me, it will evoke some pretty powerful memories of childhood. Not only is it chock-full of the games we Brooklyn girls used to play with our beloved Spaldeens (as well as the ones we were only allowed to watch the boys play) but it also comes with a real live Spaldeen (okay, so it's called a Pinky Ball). There are games I remember playing, like "A, My Name is Alice" and "Hit the Penny," games I don't remember, like "Four Square," and lots of games I knew by other names - regional variants, I guess. Anastasio has done a wonderful job of digging up a zillion games, as well as history, special Spaldeen techniques, and safety tips for the modern world, which is less inclined to make way for kids playing in the street. A comprehensive, well-written treat to read!

Count to 12 with Sesame Street
A must for a counting book esp. if your child likes Sesame Street. It is an older book so the new characters like Elmo don't show up. However, you see the Count and Big Bird a lot, also, Grover, Oscar, Kermit, Tully, Cookie Monster. Very little of the books scenes are actually on Sesame Street. You see a merry go round, a farm, a train, cars while you are looking for Big Bird who is semi-hidden in many of the pictures. Its simple and fun and counting books esp. this one had my son counting to 12 at two years old.
