Eminently fulfills its aim
Simple Layout and really a fantastic effort. Only feedback is Fonts could have been little bigger. Cross referencing Ramanuja's interpretation where applicable was really unexpectedly handy and fabulous. This book is a must for any begining student of bagavat gita.

Great for Students
I am Hindu, and my mother is very religious. That being said, we have many copies of The Gita at home. However, I bought this one because I needed a copy to study with. The English translation and the sanksrit word for word translation are great. I find this extremely helpful.

A lot of my friends who take religious study classes find this book extremely helpful as well, for the same reasons.

Although there isn't any one true translation out there, this version of The Gita, in my opinion, is wonderful for those who are not versed in Sanskrit, and seek a better understanding of the Slokhas.

A unique and indispensable bilingual edition.
I long ago lost count of the different editions of the Bhagavad Gita that I have, but it must certainly be over twenty. Of them I keep two constantly by my side, one of which is that by Winthrop Sargeant. For lovers of the Gita who, even though they may be innocent of Sanskrit, would like to approach the text in its original language, a language of great force and beauty, there could be no finer edition.

Each page is devoted to a single verse of the Gita and gives, in the left column, line by line - the Sanskrit text in Devanagari letters, its transliteration, and a word by word literal translation. Then follows a prose translation of the entire verse with, at the bottom of the page, occasional light annotations.

In the right column we are given Sargeant's incredibly useful grammatical analysis of every single word. This analysis, which also gives relevant English synonyms, is evidently a labor of love which involved Sargeant in an enormous amount of work. In the many bilingual editions I have examined, I've never seen anything that even approached it, and we should all be intensely grateful to Mr Sargeant for having, out of the goodness of his heart, provided us with such an invaluable tool.

If this book has a weakness, it is perhaps that the Devanagari script is printed in far too tiny a font; but, since it is immediately followed by transliteration into the Roman alphabet, no great harm is done. Also, since Sargeant's edition has a linguistic orientation, one will have to look elsewhere for a 'philosophic' commentary.

Readers who may be new to Sanskrit, and who would like to get a bit of grounding in the language before approaching the Bhagavad Gita, might take a look at Thomas Egenes, 'Introduction to Sanskrit' (1989). There are many primers of Sanskrit on the market, but this is undoubtedly the best as not (like that, for example, of Michael Coulson) overloading the beginner with too much detail. It also has the additional merit of printing the Devanagari letters in a large clear font, something that will be appreciated by anyone who has ever attempted to learn this difficult script.

Those who may already be comfortable with Devanagari, and who are looking for a bilingual edition of the Bhagavad Gita which, besides giving a word by word transliteration and translation, also gives a prose translation and full commentary, might look at the edition by Swami Gambhirananda with the commentary of Sankaracarya (1995). This is the second edition that I keep constantly by my side, since the two serve to complement each other beautifully.

Great insigh! The role of executives in alliance management
There are so many literatures about strategic alliance for practitioner and academics. But few book are really useful for us. My message is just BUY IT. This is nothing but Great! You know what? This research was completed in 1995 and 5year has passed ...then still shining and definitely the mile stone of strategic alliance and cooperative strategy field, I believe. They begin with defining the notion of new types of alliances form 90s and make it clear how drastically the competitive situation changed and what the source of competitive advantage is. That's the entrepreneurial role of top managemant and alliance manager. Competitive advantage of alliancing corporation doesn't come from poor analysis of resources, invisible assets or core competence. The point is relationship between partners. And the greatest point of this book is not only pointing out the importance of "relationship management" of alliance but also ...wow that's enough.. Just BUY IT!

Please read this book if you're serious about joint ventures
This is the best book I know of for understanding how to create and manage a successful strategic alliance.
There is so much redundant business literature out there on this subject that it is such a relief to finally have one good source.
The great thing about this book was that it forced me to think about how competitive strategy and analysis should be the driver of any well conceived strategic alliance.
I cannot think of another book that has so skillfully integrated these two highly related disciplines in such a practical way.

If anyone knows of anyother books or articles that these authors have written on this subject can you please let me know via email?

First and the Best of its kind in English !
This is my third book by the author - a reputed scholar in the thiestic vaisnavism of Ramanujacharya. A very schlarly work, like in his other works, he has never tried to put his personal opinions in to the work. His other work, Vaisnavism should be read along with this work, to complete.

Truly a fine work on a profound subject!

now in VB.NET - and for version 1
I reviewed the orginal version of this book which was in C#. I've been lucky enought ot get my hands on the new VB.NET edition and it is even better than the original. I am more used to VB as it is, and I spent quite a lot of time translating some of the code snippets in the original, but now I don't have to! The book has changed a bit, it looks better than the first edition, and it is now completely 1.0 compliant. I've used the first book a lot, it's told me more or less everything I've needed to know. If you need to know about web services and you prefer VB then this is the only book you'll need!

Wha?
Lot's of good recommedations, but not focused enough. Maybe it's because .NET security is still a hodege-pod of techniques that has no roadmap to follow. Geez...I still don't know what technique(s) to use for a particular situation. I can figure it out, but if I have to do that, what's the sense of buying the book?

Good, no-nonsense stuff
I'm enjoying this book. The authors break things down thoroughly, providing numerous approaches to a particular task, for example, authentication. They provide concepts first and then apply it using differnt methods, for example, authenticating a user from credentials stored in XML file, SQL db, etc.

Nothing seems to be skipped in this book regarding the topics they cover. It leaves little if nothing to be desired.

Well done Wrox!

essential
I m surprised at the book not being reviewed enough. It s an absolute essential, very well written and real-world wise. I think most people go for language books, ignoring such importand matters as security. How are they planning to deploy their web apps, I wonder.

One of the first things to learn from the book is that security is not only an administrator's task but half the job needs to be done by the developer. And that 's where this book comes in. I feel much more confident after reading it, all my question are answered.

A bravo! to WROX for doing it again.
