Very enjoyable, especially for the amateur tree fan
If you enjoy tree guides, you'll find this satisfying. While not the most complete guide available, the illustration are great, as is usually the case in Eyewitness guides. If you are interested in trees as a beginner or hobbyist this book is great for helping to actually recognize the trees included and getting a little interesting information on each one. I also own the Eyewitness guide to herbs and have used both these books a lot, mostly for browsing through in my spare time.

Best tree book ever
This book is great now you can take a leaf and with this book get family, botanical and common names. My landscaping class used it more than anything else. Best money I ever spent. The Identification key in the front of the book is a great time saver when trying to find what tree you are looking at.

All about trees
I LOVE THIS BOOK! I am a horticulture student and I got this book to help me with tree ID. If I wasn't a student, this book would still be WONDERFUL. It is easy to follow- any one who wants to identify trees could use this book. It has become my favorite book! I was able to identify every tree I came across on mt vacation in the San Juans.

Introductory algebra, programmed
This is an excellent book both for those who need to learn the basics of pre-algebra concepts and for those well into algebra functions.

This book offers a 1-2-3, a-b-c step-by-step approach to learning complex algebraic problems. Excellent for self-study or to assist you in understanding most text book jargon.

Highly recommend.

Erotic Fiction at its best
A great view of the leather family, mentoring, and passing on the baton. While the BDSM aspect is a great bonus, the family bond is even more heartwarming.

Essential for all die-hard fans of the afternoon serial.
A beautifully illustrated book with plenty of information on the history of soaps, this book may be as interesting to sociologists as it is to soap fans. Most noteworthy, is the way it differentiates the soaps from one another in terms of issues that each tackles and why. It is interesting to trace how soaps such as "Painted Dreams" began on radio and what appealed (and didn't) to various audiences throughout the decades. Eg: Isn't it hard to believe that "Guiding Light" (On Cable In Sydney) was orginally a 15 minute radio serial about four ministers? Many soaps mentioned in the book will probably be unknown to younger Sydney audiences such as "Search For Tommorrow" and "As The World Turns" which haven't been on the air for years (decades?) but there is good coverage on todays lineup as well. If you like this book you may want to check out A book by Jean Rouverol called"Writing For The Soaps" (1984) and "Soapbox" (1990) Hopefully a television special of a similar nature to this book could be done because the archive material itself would be priceless viewing.

an unforgettable account of Vietnam
This book was a tragic, candid look at the lives of everyday soldiers caught up in a hellish conflict. This reality is so unimaginable for my generation today, yet these men confronted it with honor and dignity. The author's affection and admiration for his companions makes his memoir both powerful and moving.

I'll never smile again
An incredibly detailed, truthful, moving, and painful personal account of war as experienced by a front line soldier in the Vietnam War.
This book was obviously written from extensive notes taken by the author when he had the time in the field to write down his feelings and experiences. For reasons of his own, the book was not published until after his death in April 1994.
This book will have immense meaning to anyone who has experienced the hell of war, as well as, anyone who wishes to understand the sacrifices our fighting men and women in battle must endure. President Bush and his top advisors should read this book before they send our treasured youth to fight another war. If those in positions of highest political authority, after reading Sgt. Peterson's war memoir, still decide we must go to war then they will understand we must fight the war to the finish with the best military tactics and strategies available not hindered and defined by vague political considerations.
I recommend this book to all. I sincerely thank Mr. and Mrs. Peterson for their service to our country.

why was this not a bestseller?
one of the best memoirs i have read on the vietnam war.
maybe even one of the best books i have ever read.
peterson's daily account of his vietnam experience is meticulously described, providing a view of his metamorphosis from an average midwestern farm boy to combat-weary grunt that is brilliant. reads more like a novel in the sense that the character in the first few chapters could not even fathom the feelings, thoughts, and experiences of the character at the end.
also provides compelling illustrations of the frustrations and inner conflicts felt by an average american required to follow orders which he is morally opposed to and intuitively wary of.
the book grows darker by the page and the reader is drawn into his sense of impending doom and constant fear.
i highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the vietnam war.

Just fine
I gotta buy this book for my class. I have some troubles with the topics inside. I agree that this is a good book but I gotta read from other sources to get more details. The author didn't make clear in many points. However, he covered all of the important topics. If you have some economic background, it would be your wonderful book, but for me it's not.

Good but poorly design
It is a good book. The author ,however, put "Figures and Graph" on the next page so that you have to turn pages back and forth most of the time to make senses. That will slow down your reading. Other than that you will enjoy reading the book.

A very helpfull book
Macroeconomics makes it easier to understand the very complex fundamentals of macroeconomics. It not only describes the different economic principles but also explaines them and examples are used frequently. Most chapters have at least a case study that shows how the ideas of the chapter can be applied to real-world episodes. The book consist of seven parts which cover different areas. The book provides information about unified development of core business cycle theory; new perspective on inflation, unemployment, growth and productivity and much more. What makes this book unique is that not only it deliver theories and concepts but also possible explanations to the central macroeconomic puzzles. I realy recomend this book.

There are many other php books
I own and constantly refer to this book and am constantly disappointed. The PHP Developer's Cookbook (nearly identical cover) is a handy book, but don't waste your money on this one. If you need a good basic introductory text on PHP look to the 56 other PHP titles Amazon stocks. The examples in this one are unclear, the treatment of most topics is incomplete. While the introductory chapters provide an interesting overview of PHP's functionality, it cannot be depended on as a faithful reference for day-to-day use.

Just compare its treatment of classes or data types to that in other texts. Or give a careful read to functions that require careful documentation-like formatting of dates. The book just leaves you confused or in the dark. The book doesn't even do a decent job of summarizing the online docs. I wish I had been more careful.

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced developer this is just not the title you want.

Average
Nothing too spectacular here. Basically it is the manual from PHP.net reworded a bit and put in a book. What really disappointed me was that I could find no reference at all to the manual on PHP.net. I really thought they should have included some type of mention in the Acknowledgements section.

On to the book. They do provide a brief introduction to PHP. It is exactly that, brief. It is not meant to be exhaustive as this book is a reference book, not a tutorial.

Before I got this book, I exclusively used the PHP.net manual to look up functions and such. When I got this book, I really didn't think it would be of any use. I have found, however, that by keeping it right there on the desk I do look things up in it. Sometimes it just feels better to look something up in a good old paper book. It is also nice to be able to have the page open and glance back at your code to compare syntax.

Would I recommend this book? It all depends what you plan to use it for. The manual will definitely suffice and will be more current. But, if you are just itching to get a PHP reference manual in a hard copy, this is your choice.

Excellent reference
I'm only giving this four stars because the information is freely available elsewhere. Nonetheless, this book is a wonderful reference to have on hand. It's the only PHP book (and I have plenty) that consistently sits on my desk. I find it to be a valuable reference tool for quick lookups, and for finding functions that I'm not sure how to spell.

It's a dictionary--not a tutorial. It doesn't teach you how to write your code (when was the last time you used a regular dictionary to come up with structure and form for a poem? You don't. You use it to look up words.) If you're looking for tutorials, you'd be better off looking elsewhere. If you use PHP day in day out, you might find having a paper reference on your desk to be helpful. Sometimes you just don't want to have to call up another web browser to search php.net, or wait until your DSL provider decides to spring back to life and allow you to search the net for a bit of syntax that has slipped your mind. The price is right, and it's a good reference book to have in addition to a book of tutorials or other learning material.
