From One Single Mother to Another (or simply Mom to Mom)
From One Single Mother to Another is written by Sandra P. Aldrich. In the short space of thirteen chapters she describes from the sudden death of her husband up to her children being grown the trials and joys of Christian single parenting. Her writing is down to earth and full of wit and wisom acquired only through experience. It is written one to one. It is written for the single parent, not for an organization. It's intent is to encourage single parents that the task is possible. One thing she taught her children that stood out to me, another single parent, is this: Single parent families are still a family. They are just smaller by the loss of a parent. She also states her pet peeve, that single parent families are "broken homes". She knows from experience that with God's help and lots of personal effort our homes are healed. As a single parent of many years I say a hearty Thank You! to Ms. Aldrich for her frank, compassionate, and sometimes humerous advice for single parents.

Wonderful collection of encouraging reflections on life
I first became familiar with the writings of Sandra Picklesimer Aldrich when I read her book "Bless Your Socks Off". What an upbeat and encouraging book that was! This dear lady lost her husband to brain cancer when her son and daughter were still quite young. I was amazed at how someone who has suffered such a loss can embrace life like she does and how she can really inspire others to look at life in a fresh new way.

This book is a collection of 101 short chapters, grouped by theme. Each chapter starts with a brief Scripture passage and ends with a few questions to ponder. Theses chapters are like potato chips - I dare you to read just one! Even though it would be fun to just keep reading a whole bunch of these stories at one time, I encourage you to take the time and savor each chapter. For there are profound things to think about in each one.

Sandra P. Aldrich (read the book to find out why she always includes her maiden name in her byline) is the type of woman that all younger women should have as a mentor. Two few young moms these days have a godly older women to turn to for encouragement and getting that all-important perspective of being able to look back and say what REALLY matters as we're raising small children.

Sandra's book will make you laugh, and cry and will hopefully help you to look at life with a fresh enthusiasm and grateful spirit. The author points us to Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith.

This book would make a WONDERFUL gift for women of all ages, but especially for young moms in the midst of raising their children.

Great help in restoring the fallen
I highly recommend this book, not only as an individual who has read it and found many helpful antidotes in ministry, but also as someone who has used it in order to restore others who have fallen. This book offers hope to those who have struggled with past issues and failures, and gives helpful, practical guidelines and theology to help return and person not only to active ministry, but also to active living. I am trying to locate another copy of this book, so that I can pass it on to a friend, because of the helpful content.

It's a must buy.

One of the best books on grief
Sandra pulls you in to her personal life and grief and showsyou not only how to survive it yourself, but how to help others aswell. It is heartwarming and honest. I've read the first version, "Living Through the Loss of Someone You Love" and this new version has all of the same poignant personal stories plus more insight and help on the grief process. Sandra offers up her own personal--and successful--experience in addition to the "self-help" format. As you're reading this book and wake up grief-stricken in the middle of the night and ask yourself, "Is this normal?" the answer you get is from someone who's been there--and who also shows she truly is an expert. Great to give to someone who is grieving when you just don't have the words yourself.

Very encouraging
In my preparation for a workshop I taught on women encouraging each other, I read this book.

The stories of average, every-day women accomplishing such amazing things in such seemingly simple ways was very uplifting! To be an effective encourager, one must first feel encouraged. And what a great book to lift the spirit. God loves working with the little things and something so small can be used for great things once God gets His hands on it! This book gives the 'proof in the pudding'.

I encouraged the women in my workshop to get this book, to have around if they just need to read something quick to get a boost. That we are instruments of the greatest musician and He can use us if we are willing!

Excellent work.

Great devotional help especially when feeling inadequate
Heartprints made me appreciate all the women in my life who have made a difference and gave me the courage to buy the book for one friend and share with her what a difference she makes on a daily basis. This book makes me want to give and do more even if I don't know the end results of my deeds.

A lovely book for night stand reading
I read a few sections of this book each night before bed, it was a terrific way to end the day, thinking about how I might affect someone for Christ the next morning. The stories are about real women with real issues and truly made me feel that if they can encourage someone, so can I.

Great, to-the-point resource
This is a great book for those who have little time to spend reading an entire book from cover to cover. You can read whatever you are interested in or what you need at that moment, due to it being divided by subject.

Most all of the chapters held great advice, lots of things I'll be trying. Some were a bit heavy, for example, death of a child, etc. But just about everything is covered.

From a biblical standpoint, it seemed to be pretty on target with God's teachings, and how to handle your children, regardless of age.

I would recommend this as a purchase (in paperback for cost savings) and a keeper!
