The African American Woman's Health Book provides an excellent guide to the prevention and cure of illness, examining the factors which predispose black women to hypertension and including chapters on sickle cell anemia and other conditions which especially affect Afro-American women. An excellent, specific source guide results.

HOW DO I FIND OUT THE QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALREADY WRITTEN REVIEWS ON THIS BOOK?

Indeed this absurd book must remain out of circulation. Regrettably my college library bought a copy trusting the title. I am gravely disappointed that anyone would publish this useless health title.

At last! "An authoritative survey of health issues confronting African Americans." Or is it? Dr. Alcena has simply published his medical school notes. The entire book contains only a very few words specifically about African American health issues, but the misleading title guarantees that a number of people will buy it.

Dr. Alcena, a lab technician who in late life squeaked through the Yeshiva Med. School, is a ruthless self-promoter. Don't waste your money buying some anonymous Medical School professors' words with Dr. Alcena's name on the cover. (lashley@london.com)
