Fraud: Bringing Light to the Dark Side of Business
This introductory text rather thoroughly covers the basics of fraud symptoms, control factors, detection methods, investigations, and prevention. It's quite easy to read, with short, interesting case studies. By reading this book, I not only learned a lot, but also had a clearer appreciation for the entire scope of the subject(s), thereby permitting me to discern which areas I should consider for additional education and training. The authors did a splendid job of writing "to instruct the reader" as opposed to simply presenting their acquired knowledge of the subject.

The BEST book about fraud ever written!
This the the most descriptive book about fraud ever written...hands down! Dr. Albrecht brings out everything a forensic accountant should know. If you have ever wanted to get an idea about how a forensic accountant thinks, then this is the book for you!

Excellent and Informative research book
Very well written and highly informative book on the white collar crime issue of Fraud. Dr. Albrecht has outdone himself with this extremely useful and easily understood literary work. As a fellow researcher in the white collar crime realm, I feel that this book will be an excellent reference and referal for me when I am conducting my empirical research. I feel that his in depth but easily understandable definitions of the various kinds of fraud are a useful tool for the reader who is essentially uniformed about the global growing concern of fraud. I strongly believe that his sections on the pressures involving white collar crime are quite true and accurate. This book should also be used as a tool for professional law enforcement, accountants, and attorneys to expand their knowledge of the many faces of fraud.

Short and concise on a variety of topics
This is filled with short, magazine column sized topics that cover issues that a peace officer routinely comes across with on the street.

The author obviously knows what he's talking about and shares lots of this information with the reader. Some of the topics include dog attacks, freeway stops, and drugs. The whole thing is infused with LOTS of officer safety concerns and things to consider when working.

Each topic/chapter is like spending a 20 minutes in 7-11 with one of your best officers. It's ideal if you have a short attention span...

A good book for beginners
This is a good book for those who have less than five years experience on a police department. Most of the material is explained fairly well and is easy to understand. I would like to see the author write a more advanced book, it appears he has the experience and ability.

Recommended for new police officers or those who need to refresh themselves on good tactics.

Great for a rookie or the "I think i know it all vet".
SURVIVING STREET PATROL IS A GREAT BOOK. IT'S UP TO DATE, AN EASY READ AND FULL OF VALUABLE INFO THAT WILL KEEP YOU ON YOUR TOES AND OUT OF A PINE BOX. I HAVE BEEN ON THE JOB FOR SIX YEARS AND, AFTER READING THIS BOOK,I REALIZED I HAVE BECOME TOO COMPLACENT. ACCORDING TO THE BOOK,MOST OFFICERS WHO ARE KILLED ON THE JOB HAVE FIVE PLUS YEARS OF EXPERIENCE. DON'T LET IT BE YOU! BUY THIS BOOK AND REFRESH YOUR, "I KNOW EVERYTHING" MIND AND STAY SAFE.

Practical, real, rapid fire info for working on the street
Having read the author's prior work of similar format and content ("Street Work"), I was a little worried it might simply be a re-hash of the same material. However, the previous book was so good, I felt that the new one was worth a look. It is, in fact, new and updated material. All of it is relevant to actually working on the street.

For those not currently working in law enforcement, or interested in it as a future career, you might also find it worthwhile. While the main purpose of the book is not to illustrate "what it's like to be a cop", you can find it if you read between the lines. Lots of the topics provide insight as to _why_ law enforcement officers do certain things when on the street.

The format, which works very well, is about 60 self-contained topics (magazine column size). Each is to the point and full of information that makes it clear the author has "been there, done that".

If I had to pick 5 or 6 books for new peace officers to read, this would be on the list. It is excellent for both training as well as review for experienced officers. It is filled with lots of stuff that many of us remember when we get reminded...

I hope Mr. Albrecht has more of these up his sleeve...

The Paralegal's Desk Reference
This reference guide is very helpful to a new Paralegal. It outlines, how to gather information, interviewing techniques, working with other professionals, working a case, finding witnesses, defendants, and how the job will expand for today's work environment. At the end of this book, there is a guide to paralegal training courses put together by the American Bar Association. All in all, a great reference tool.

management accouting for steve albrecht, et al
this text hasn't included solutions manual that's big trouble for student

Missing major material
This book was required for my accounting class. It seems the have the holes of Swiss cheese though. While it probably covers the basics of Financial Accounting as well as any other book, it lacks some things that I thought would be entirely useful. For example only the odd exercises have the solutions in the back. Maybe it's just me, but I expect all since I'm in college. Furthermore, despite the copyright date of 2002, this edition contains a lot of old material. It lists Market Capitalization information about Microsoft from the spring and summer of 2000, the peak in stock prices. Also in the first chapter it speaks of accounting ethics and references a speech made in 1998 by the chairman of the SEC. It makes no mention to the scandals of Enron, WorldCom etc. (Enron declared bankruptcy on Dec. 2, 2001.) This edition appears to be just a desire by the authors to put out a new edition to limit the used book trade of the 7th edition and make more money for the authors.
If you can avoid it, do not buy this edition new.

Super Service
Very fast delivery. Book was in brand-new shape.
