I'm not crazy afterall !!
At 47 years old I thought I was ready for the looney bin! Then I ran across this book and what relief I felt. After reading the first few pages of this book I realized I wasn't crazy I was just on an emotional roller coaster called severe PMS. Ms. Lush has given me insight into what I can do about my PMS. Thanks Ms. Lush, Your new friend from Florida!

Very insightful!
What an incredible book! I was able to understand more about my emotional ups and downs and the changes in a woman's body that can cause them. My husband also read the book and gained a new understanding of women. He recommends it to friends more than I do.

This book will change your life.
Amazing insight for women of all age

Rodale's Garden Answers
I love this book, it has become my gardening bible! If I have a question, it has the answer. It has made gardening organically much easier.
Last year was my first year to try to garden organically, and it didn't work out too well. But this year I actually know what I'm doing! I would definatly recommend it!

Fantastic book
I really loved this book because it focused on organic methods first. Also, it goes though plant by plant and lists growth conditions, problems and many options for cures. It also goes through soil and garden development.

The Hint book for Organic Gardening
Spend less time reading and more time gardening with this quick-reference guide. The book is broken into five sections: Getting Started, Growing Vegetables, Growing Fruits, Growing Herbs, and Controlling Pest and Diseases. Each section is loaded with tips. In the Getting started section, you will learn about preparing a site, buying the right plants, and how to making Compost Tea. The Vegetable section, not only gives you a detailed write-up on over 30 different vegetables, but tells how to get 100 pounds of tomatoes from one plant. For the do-it-yourself group, there are instructions on how to build a homemade tomato cage.

The book devotes 100 pages to growing fruits. Learn how to make an aphid trap out of a milk jug or how to propagate berry plants and fruit trees. There are detailed care and maintenance write-ups on 12 of the most common fruits & berries.

The Herb section talks about controlling invasive herbs, companion planting, and how to perform a technique called layering.

The Controlling Pest and Diseases section points out beneficial insects and plants. The book also explains organic tricks for solving insect, plant deficiency, and disease problems. I love the way the book uses home products to solve common gardening problems in an easy to read format. This is my favorite gardening book.

I used these books in bush Alaska.
The Success in Reading and Writing series are great books to utilize with children who are developing skills in reading, writing and study skills. Every child participates with success. I enjoy using their methods of presenting new skills, taking what the child knows and building a strong reading and writing foundation from there.

Helps give structure to literature-based reading program
I checked the ISBN - this is the book for Kindergarten.

As a new teacher, I have found this book to be quite helpful as an alternative or supplement to the basal. While our basal is literature-based, it's themes don't go along with normal themes I would be doing. Success is structured enough to provide guidance for a new or inexperienced teacher like me, but allows you the freedom to choose your own theme and literature selections. This program also provides opportunities for kids to be involved in the learning process so it is more fun and meaningful.

The program has 4 parts - Pictures & Words, Storytime, Writing, and Alphabet.

Pictures & Words - Very helpful in developing writing skills, while some teachers choose to leave it out due to lack of time. (I use Daily News.)

Storytime - Each day has a suggested book and discussion focus that may or may not go along with the theme or alphabet concept. (Each concept is developed for several days, and at least one book from those days relates to the concept. However, it is very easy to substitue your own selections, if you wish.)

Writing - 5 days - A theme is introduced on day 1, then days 2-4 the teacher meets with small groups to help w/ writing, then day 5 is a culminating activity of the theme.

Alphabet - Each letter is focused on for 3 days (upper & lowercase together), next is rhyming words, object labeling (deals w/ beginning consonants), then finally blends.

The book itself has a beginning section that thoroughly describes the program and how to do it, and the rest of the book has: Daily Lessons (clear layout, can be personalized by teacher); Lists of suggested pictures, themes, and books; and Alphabet module lessons.

I have found this textbook to be quite helpful in developing a reading program based on the children's interests and needs. Even if you have to use your school's basal program, this is a GREAT supplement, especially if you are lacking active participation of the students.

Combining Poetry and Nature
This is a beautifully illustrated book that teaches young children about nature through poetry. We had the feeling on every page as if we had entered the world where nature's creatures live. The beautiful and colorful illustrations really enhance the poetry, give the creatures life and spark the reader's imagination. I highly recommend this book for children (and adults) of all ages!

Planning made easy!!
This book was recommended by a friend who had just been to Paris. It has all the information you need, from how to get from the airport to your hotel (shuttle is best), to hotels (listed by location and price), to restaurants(by area, specialties and price). It explains the cuisine of the different regions of France and which restaurants to find them in. It also notes the ambience of many restaurants, ie French attitude, or catering to non-French speaking patrons. It explains the best ways of getting around Paris, the top ten sights, off the beaten path sights, shopping guides for everything from jewelry, to wine, to porcelain, to food etc. It has guides and maps for wonderful walking tours of the different arrondisements (areas/distrcits) that take you past historically, literary and architecturally significant places. It tells you about the tourist sights (Moulin Rouge) where Parisians rarely frequent, as well as the places Parisians love to go. It also has information on organized tours, tips on Museum passes and Metro passes and a decent regular sized folding map of Paris is included in the back. Additionaly, there is wonderful information on trips outside of Paris, such as Versailles and Chartre. This makes planning your trip fun and enjoyable. This book is well worth owning if you are going to Paris soon, and if not buy it anyway, planning ahead is always a good idea!

God as Communion
This is another welcome addition to the growing corpus on "communion theology" in the English language. The provided sample pages can speak for themselves, so I won't write anything too detailed. I would, however, make a few recommendations for other similar books. Concerning "God talk" and the divine names, a defense of traditional naming can be found in "Speaking the Christian God", ed. by Kimel. Of course the works of both John Zizioulas and Elizabeth Fox are relelvant, especially Zizioulas' "Being as Communion". "God For Us" by Catherine LaCugna is very scholarly and relelvant in that it places the Trinitarian debate within the context of the personal relationships. In other words, like Zizioulas, LaCugna sees the Trinity as the Primal communion of love by which all things, especially human personhood, hold together and find their end (and beginning!). Please see some of my other reviews for similar books.

Ms. Bell covers the gambut of canoe camping, from planning, equipment selection, considerations concerning traveling with children, health & safety issues, and on and on. worth buying
Beautiful photographs, well laid out lists of ingredients, not a book for someone just starting out as cooking instructions are pretty terse.

A Collection of Only the Best!
"Good taste is one of those elusive qualities that most people find hard to define, even though they know it when they see it. In general, however, it denotes quality, simplicity, and ease. When applied to food, taste is also present when good ingredients are cooked in an honest way that highlights the essence of their taste, texture, and appearance." -Chuck Williams

Chuck Williams' philosophy is to celebrate the pleasure of cooking. He opened his first store in Sonoma, CA in 1956 and now more than 200 stores have opened in the United States. He has literally helped to revolutionize cooking in America.

My first introduction to a Williams-Sonoma store was when some friends bought me the cutest Les Garcons Dinnerware as a wedding present. French artist Guy Buffet is renowned for his whimsical impressionistic style and creates the porcelain plates, each with a different waiter. They are made exclusively for Williams-Sonoma and are a favorite collectible.

Later, while walking through Bellevue Square in Bellevue, WA I saw the plates there and then fell in love with cooking stores.

The Best of Taste is a 320 page compilation of the favorite recipes from the first year of Williams-Sonoma TASTE Magazine. Many of the world's greatest chefs have made a contribution to this cookbook. Marimar Torres, Joyce Goldstein, Nancy Silverton, Patricia Wells, Deborah Madison, Jean Georges Vongerichten to name a few.

Throughout this cookbook, you will find 250 beautiful, larger-than-life photographs. Fascinating pictures of a bakery in Paris or a honey farm in Manhattan. There are also photographs of the techniques in the recipes to illustrate the food preparation steps.

Each recipe has the most gorgeous picture and a full page with an easy to read ingredient list and numbered instructions.

The contents include (with recipe selections):

Introduction
Drinks - Guava Colada to Tropical Delights

Starters - Spicy Crab Cakes, Endive with Crab, Bacon wrapped dates, Balkan Meat-Stuffed Potato Pastries, the cutest Caviar Purses, Sizzling Shrimp with Garlic.

Soups & Stews - Gorgeous Avocado-Cucumber Soup, Spanish Garlic Soup, Beef and Onion Stew.

Salads - Marinated Zucchini and Goat's Cheese Salad, Apple, Celeriac and Chestnut Salad, Kidney Bean and Chicken Salad.

Entrees - Matambre, Stuffed Lamb with Eggplant and Feta, Veal Involtini with Grilled Anaheim Chiles, Fish Baked in Salt, braised Short Ribs with Bok Choy.

Sides - Green Garlic and Spinach Soufflé, Butternut Squash with Dates and Pistachios, Hot and Spicy Roasted Pears (from the cover), Stir-Fried Eggplant.

Desserts - Buzzy Bees (cookies), Chocolate Chunk Cherry Biscotti (talk about heavenly), Chocolate Rum Truffles, Nun's Breasts with Pumpkin Cream (a pillow of pumpkin pastry cream atop a crunchy cornmeal oatmeal cookie, showered with powdered sugar), Plum and Grape Cobbler, Cherry -Almond Cake, Orange Custard, Pomegranate Sorbet and a divine Chocolate Soufflé.

I feel a little heady just typing all those delicious dessert names.

A definite collectable you will actually want to cook from! Also perfect for coffee table reflection. Just as fun to read as to cook from. Your heart will beat a little faster while you read (or one could say: "devour with your eyes") this cookbook.

Truly an Exciting Cookbook filled with delicious recipes! If this book doesn't get you into the kitchen, nothing will!

great food book
easy-to-do menus, I've made about 40% of the menus in the book ... non-complicated and creative recipes, delightful!
