A fun book to share with your children!
Jack Prelutsky has a talent for writing silly little poems about everyday things, bringing delight to young and old alike! In this book, he gives poetic justice to Valentine's Day in the most lighthearted way. My sons, now teenagers, were all fortunate enough to be introduced to this book, Jack Prelutsky, and poetry in general, by their first-grade teacher. They spent many happy moments reading these poems depicting a child's view of Valentine's Day...and I enjoyed them as well! Put this one on your list!

A Valentines Day Book For Everyone!!
This is a great children's book. It is filled with Valentine's Day poems for kids of all ages. The poems are simple and easy to read, and theres pictures for each one, too. This book will surely bring happiness to your next Valentines Day.

A Memorable Read
I love this book. My mom used to read it to me when I was small, and it has always been one of my favorites. I lost my original book many years ago but now that I am an aunt I have searched high and low to relocate it as a gift for my nephew. The short stories in the book are touching as well as humorous and have a way of gripping readers both young and old!!

Young Children Love This Book
As a former marine science teacher, I read this book to every class of Kindergartners I ever had. The kids loved it! It remains one of my all-time favorites for children just learning to read.

A great book for a hermit crab thematic unit
This is a great book for a primary grade teacher to include in a theme about hermit crabs or sea animals. Other books that are particuarly good are Eric Carle's A House for Hermit Crab and Megan McDonald's Is This a House for Hermit Crab? Moving Day features many opposites with descriptive words that would be great in both language arts and science/math lessons. On several pages, the illustrations in Moving Day have tiny, humorous details that the kids will enjoy discovering. Moreover, the very large print lends itself well to shared reading (reading in which the teacher points to each word as it is being read aloud). A great book for a teacher's Ocean-theme collection!

My Two Year Old Loves It!
We got this book from the library, and I'm buying our own copy. My two year old loves this book, and just about knows it by heart. Of the hundred or so books he can choose from to be read each night, he has consistently chosen this one for two weeks. In two year old terms, that's forever!

Nice collection of poems
This collection of poems relate to bedtime and nighttime. While much shorter than Jack's better known collections ("New Kid on the Block", etc.), I believe the emotional range is broader in this book. This book includes wistful poems and cutesy-scary poems, that would feel out of place in Jack's funny poems compilations. Of course, there are many funny poems, but the real gems are the others.

High marks to Jack.

I Thnk This Book Is A Great One! I Really Reccomend It!
I think many kids of all ages will enjoy this book. Many of Jack Prelutsky's books tickle your funny bone!

Unique story that revolves around "the old folks"
This wonderful little story revolves around the elderly folks. Mrs. Gardenia, who just lost her husband, is "courted" by Mr. Bennett. He catches a hearty size fish in the pond and requestss her presence for dinner, and happily, he proceeds to cook the fish. Well, the fish slips away and makes the round suspiciously through the neighborhood.

Illustrations are full size, while the reading is light on each page. Its colorful drawings enhance the storyline. Excellent departure from the average children's story. This story teaches children that "love" exists throughout, even with the "old folks" .....MzRizz

Cute little story, about a father, his son, and a mother's day cake.
This children book, written by the Israeli author, Meir Shalev, is about a father and son who stays alot together, and oftten without the mother, beacuse of the mother's occupation as an air hostess. One day, The child had to bring a cake to the mother's day. and he knows about cakes what usually fathers know....Eventually, the cake won a great success in many other ways. The book is wonderfully illustrated by Yosi Abolafia, that his illustrations make a story by themselves.

A great book!
This is a great book because it tells about the life on a kibbutz. It tells a story of a girl named Aviva, she has a problem though she has a piano and doesn't know how to get it in her house.

A Child's Life Under Terrorist Threat
Aviva lives in a kibbutz in Israel. When her long awaited piano arrives, it is too large to fit in her house either through the door or the window. Aviva is late to school that day, distracted by the problem of the piano. Suddenly there's an air raid and the children wait in a shelter as rockets buzz overhead.

Chaikin was born in Jerusalem and now lives in New York City. This entertaining story is based on an actual event that happened when she was visiting a kibbutz family in Israel.

The story is charming, amusing and different from the usual children's tale. It shows good coming from bad and is an important vision of contemporary life in Israel; a testimony to the courage and composure of a people who live with the constant threat and actuality of terrorist attack.

Neat Story With Subtle Message About Appreciation
A fine book for 3-7 year-olds about a small boy Timothy, who wanted to give his mother a special birthday present. So, in the kitchen he begins creating a "birthday thing". That is to say, with the help of his older sister, brother, and dad, a bizzare oven-baked creation that would make lesser people laugh. His mother takes the high road, and is delighted with his creation, and makes wonderful use of it. Sort of a "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" story.

Very nice illustrations, and story length.

10 Uses for your Imagination
A boy lives on a farm and gathers 10 old pails to create something special. This is a simple tale about the lost art of using one's imagination and creativity for amusement. It is a modern day farm, yet not one television or video game is in sight. Nice illustrations accompany the easy to read text.
