Excellent text for Criminal Justice majors
I am a college professor who just finished teaching ORGANIZED CRIME to twenty college juniors and seniors. I selected Abadinsky's book as the text because it is carefully and thoughtfully "choreographed." The information provided flows in a sensible and clearly written design. Some texts appear to be designed for Rhodes Scholars and are virtually impossible to read. This is not the case with this great book! I recommend it to teachers and those who have in interest in this fascinating subject.

Organized Crime's concept, empircial evidence and current LE
If you (the reader, the researcher) is interested in Organized Crime, I strongly recommend this book (Howard Abadinsky's Organized Crime, 6th Ed.) This book is the only detailed book I have come across in studying Organized Crime. I am currently a criminal justice graduate student attending the University of Central Florida. RSB

A classic work by a leading expert in the field
In this revised edition of the classic text on organized crime Abadinsky provides a comprehensive overview of organized crime groups, traditions, operations and the impact on American society.

Ecclesiastes 2:1
In addition to having read this book, I have had the priviledge of being one of Dr. Abadinski's students.
Abadinski is not a professor that reads directly from the book, in fact he seldom opens it. As he talks on, you can almost follow word for word what is written in the book.

The book gives an excellent overview of the Judicial system. It covers the history of law and courts, gives a great description of types of legal systems in America and Europe, and has a great chapter on law schools. Some of Abadinski's experiences in the New York and Illinois court systems are apparent including the selection of judges in New York and his own dealing with the ACLU when he tried to publish a paper about the NY probation/parole department that would have resulted in an unfair termination.

I think that this is an excellent book for any criminal justice student, or anyone interested in the justice system in general. I entered his class as someone interested in attending a local law school in hopes of becomming a public defender. Afterwords, however, I have learned how utterly useless the justice system is. The figures show how less than %3 of cases ever go to trial.

Dr. Abadinski holds his Ph.D. from New York university as well as an MSW from Fordham university. He is a former parole officer.

SPLICES, ANTECEDENTS ETC.
THE BLAIR HANDBOOK IS MUST HAVE FOR WRITING PERFECT ENGLISH. NO HOUSE, LIBRARY, OR EVEN STUDENT SHOULD BE WITHOUT THIS TEXT. EVER WONDER WHY IT IS THAT 'THE ROAD WINDS AROUND THE MOUNTAIN.' INSTEAD OF 'THE ROADS WINDS AROUND THE MOUNTAIN'? WELL NOW YOU CAN FIND OUT, NOT JUST BECAUSE IT DOESN'T SOUND RIGHT, BUT THE REASON IT ISN'T CORRECT. THERE ARE MANY THINGS THAT YOU WILL WRIET AND THEN SECOND GUESS THEM, AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THEY ARE CORRECT. WITH THIS BOOK YOU CAN FIND OUT WHAT IS CORRECT AND BRING YOUR WRITING UP TO A HIGHER LEVEL. USE THE TIPS AND LESSONS TO WRITE IMPRESSIVE RESUMES, PAPERS, THESES ETC. A MUST FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN WRITING EXCEPTIONALLY WELL.

A Student's Book
This book is perfect for any student of writing, wether enrolled in a university or not. It guides the reader through every stage of the writing process: planning, drafting, researching, revising, editing. Each stage is examined very carefully; the book covers any and all aspects that are needed to get on board and start writing.

The unique features of this book are (1) helpful ESL boxes that offer important tips for international students, or for those that help international students, (2) Questions for analysis and useful assignments, both for individuals and groups, (3) a clear, exciting format that makes for easy, captivating reading, and (4) practical charts and helps for easy reference. The book can be read like a novel or used as a reference tool. The only problem is that, because of the size of the book, the softcover does not wear well. I would recommend buying hardcover.

I have always avoided writing; it never quite turns out the way I want. But this handbook, with its clear explanations and user-friendly tone, has inspired me to simply write, not letting burdens of worry slow me down. I have been encouraged to have fun exploring new ways of putting my fingers to the keyboard. This book is for anyone who is not a writer, or is, but wants to be one.
